Your brother owns Fish Rules!? If that is so, please thank him for me. That is the most useful apps i have on my phone, and to be honest, it has saved my hide more than once from receiving a citation when i have caught fish and i am not sure of the season/size/bag limit or correct way to measure a specific fish. Anyone out there who does any fishing should have this app! Love it!

I didn't & I was fortunate enough to get to Deer Hunt Scott Mountain Al. & I also become a Commercial Snapper boat Captain'. I held Snapper & King & I held but didn't use Tuna permits before I became Disabled but don't you give up. You can become Anything you want.

I just wanted to say your videos are perfect , i watch videos of you and your family and friends . and everyone that has not tried everglades seasonings y'all need to . i use it and we LOVE IT . i used the cactus dust on hot dogs on the grill and was blowed away the flavor is top shelf seasonings . the steaks i made i used the original everglades and cactus dust . i have had great steaks before without everglades . now with everglades it was THE BEST STEAK I EVER HAD . we love ya keep up the great catching clean and cook videos . thank you and God bless .

At least try to remove a hook. As an avid bass fisherman I do everything I can to remove the hook before I release. I hope others don't pick up on this habit.

If the fish has swallowed the hook deeply, it is better to leave the hook , specially if it is a smaller hook.
We fish mainly large mouth but we do fish salt water at times... Off shore fish are a lot different then fresh water fish and a lot of time swallow the hook (with live bait it happens most times even with a quick hook set) removing the hook if possible but a lot or times leaving the hook in place is less trauma for the fish then trying to remove a hook your likely not going to be able to.
If you use uncoated hooks they rust out VERY quickly. On a normal shank 5/0 hook that's uncoated if you put in salt water you will see the hook looses all integrity after about two days and by 3 to 4 days they are falling apart.
We cut off hooks when fishing goliath groupers all the time and a lot of time 30 mins later will catch the same fish again the hook isn't a issue to them.. And with in a week the fish will be hook free from the salt dissolving the hook and on the Goliaths we are using very heavy thick shanked hooks and even they dissolve very quickly... Light tackle fairly thin shanked hooks dissolve in no time... The fish is in more danger from trying to remove a deep hooked or gut hooked fish then it is by cutting the line off as close to the hook as you can and have a quick release.
Removal if possible and can be done quickly is the best of course however a lot of time when live baiting off shore it's not possible..
He isn't doing anything wrong unless the fish are not hooked deep and he's just cutting them off and that doesn't make sense..
Another thing is if he is using coated hooks then that is a stupid move as the hook will not rust out any time soon and is almost 100% gonna kill the fish if it's deep hooked as it takes months for coated hooks to dissolve.
Any legal fish that swallows my hook goes in the cooler for dinner.
Don't remove a hook buried so deeply in a fish's mouth. It's tissues are soft and and gills are nearby and more prone to damage. Better to leave the hook in and let it rust out.

Been following you for a bit. I loved the show until you started cutting off hooks inside fish with not a lot of effort to remove them?? Have you tried some long nose pliers? I carry curved artery forceps that work the best. Stick them on a lanyard around your neck. Here in Africa, most fishermen do this. I think I have only ever left 4 maybe 5 hooks in fish in 48 years of fishing. Just a suggestion. I know you are a God-fearing man and respect His creation...

Agreed, I am new to fishing all around, but it stood out to me as a much bigger deal that he led it on to be.
I mean, there is no way that these fish live un effected after being released with a metal hook in their systems. I imagine many of these fish he claims to love, end up starving to death after being released.
@@MrHolidayz I agree. I've been removing hooks out of fish since I was a kid. There hasn't been many if at all where I left a hook in a fish. Rob seems like the type of guy to rip out a hook completely tearing up the fish inside just to retrieve a hook then toss it back as "eh its just a fish" type attitude. I can't imagine its easy for a fish to swallow food with a piece of metal in its mouth all cause he can't use fish pliers. Its basic stuff

I see alot of youtubers not going through much effort to remove hooks. They need an arc dehooker and some other forms of hook removal tools.

Hey man thank you for bringing Dubois park back into my life!! It has been with me since I was a wee little one I'm 29 now and have missed this beautiful park!! Just a hint the grouper fishing off of the jetty on the inside is amazing!! I landing one off "the fighting chair" at 80lbs one morning at 0300 last fish I ever caught there. Joseph Alvino yes you are correct, high carbon steel dissolves very rapidly, thats the way it’s designed, many hooks used to be made of stainless steel....which is no good.

Gene Sigler the hook will just tust away in less then a week and if it was deeply in the fish you’ll give the fish more trauma and will die later on..... if u have never salt water fished i suggest you should do some research before you talk!.

Love your videos: been watching for years. This one hit a cord: it would be nice to see a little more effort to remove the hooks from the catches that are not legal. You tossed two back with little to no effort: you simply cut the line. A pair of needle nose pliers have come in handy for me many times over
Letter of the law and not the spirit, that's what I despise about what the police state does to our morals. Slavery was legal. Cutting baby penises is legal. Slow killing but not eating a fish you caught because of the Man- legal. Meh.

Huntin Fishin they do not 'spit them out' dude what are you talking about? Infection sets in and it over for the fish. Hooks reed to be removed when releasing.
dude thats why almost all fishing hook manufacturers don't make then hooks out of stainless steel. Its so that they can rust out. Ive gone diving offshore and seen all sorts of fish with hooks in their mouths that have obviously been there for a long time. Fish are ALOT hardier than people think. Ive caught snook that when I fillet them and check their stomachs, there are hooks in their stomachs. Again, Fish are a lot hardier that you and most people think.
