These lovely places always make me 'homesick' even tho I do not have any particular connection to them....it's the greenery, the beautiful beaches, the emptyness that pulls me in - it's the connection with another time - when people had to find firewood, or dig up peat, make their own candles from fats, shear their own sheep, dig in the dirt for their food supply....all those old fashioned survival tasks we all 'know' in our bones from ages past ! And in terms of the ages it's not so long ago ! Beautiful - thank you !
Shetland and Orkney, the best view of the northern isless, best video and peaceful sounds with nature,,, Love it,,,,, Greetings from a new friend,, Always Best Wishes to you,,,You are most welcome dear friend,, Have a great day,,
Thanks for your comments Erika. It's always difficult to know how much to leave in and how much to omit. I guess you'll just have to visit for yourself and spend as much time as you like admiring the stunning scenery 😊Thank you for watching 🙏
Wow Such Beautiful place ❤️🤩 I would wanna live some day in the Scotland 🌺💓 a have 5% of Scottish blood line so I felt like I was at home 🏡 when I saw it this video made teary eyed 😢😢Thank you for posting this video watching from🇺🇲
Worked from February 1976 on 3 occasions till 1982 on Sulom , I have visited several times since then to Unst , last planned visit snookered by covid , age might be a factor now , but I was one o the workers who had the Shetland fever . Unst and the people in Unst are special as is the fishing and hospitality . Enjoyed the wee film which just popped up , seems like I still have the Shetland fever , I check the webcams site often .Biggest stepping stone in my life was seeking work in Shetland . Stay safe .
Thanks William for sharing your association with Shetland. It is indeed an enthralling place. We would love to return one day but would stay for more than a week. Thanks for watching 🙏
Great film Ian was in Unst for 2 weeks at a wedding , about 6 years ago , and then over to Skerries for a “hamefarin “ when the bride went back home , the whole 3 weeks were sunny every day , and good weather makes Shetland look spectacular . Hope to get back up to see my brother in law and his wife and all thier family , as long as our health holds we will be back . Thanks for your reply .
As someone with Orkney and Shetland DNA I found this very interesting. I shall have to try and get up there sooner rather than later! Preferably to see the Midnight sun.
Wonderful Ian. No wonder it got so many views! Those puffins.... and lovely to revisit Orkney, only been once but absolutely loved it. Especially the Italian chapel - that blew me away. Thanks for 17 minutes of splendour 😍 Sue
Thanks for watching. It was June when we were there so I hope the weather is kind to you next year. I'm sure you'll have a great time whatever the weather.
Brilliant. Thank you very much. But how does your dugge hold onto the chain? Seriously, I wish all those who infect the toob of yoo with carp would study how to do it properly. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and I'm happy you enjoyed it. Our trip was delayed a year due to Covid but it was well worth waiting for. I hope you have a great time 😎😊
Lovely video and I just love the dog! One tiny correction - when the Sandness caption appears, the view is actually looking south down Weisdale Voe. But superbly done, all round.
unbelievable landscapes and beauty of the northern nature. Intended with my gf to visit Orkney and Shetland this summer, but after February our plans goes wrong. Thank you for your highlights. Great job.
Caro Ian, é tutto favoloso e tu sei bravissimo nelle tue riprese... Ho rivisto con tanta gioia la mia dolce amica Meg.... Vi abbraccio tutti quanti, buona giornata
Very beautiful and seems to be not so overrun with tourists. We just came back from iceland and in parts it was barely bareable anymore. So beautiful if one can enjoy nature with a bit of lonelyness
This is a very beautiful place , but those small houses are built to flat , why not on a raised floor about 2 or 3 ft above the ground , thanks for sharing , watching from Trinidad in the Caribbean
How odd this flagged up today on my utube channel and on this very day last year2022 my mate n i were travelling out of aberdeen on motocycle trip ...we stayed in BRAE....visited all places in your vid near.. skaw a new space port was starting its construction wonder if its still going ahead brilliant place shetland and orkney born an live in northern england my ancestry dna results came recently and theres a trace back to shetland on my mothers side ..cheers dave
Ian, how many days did your trip last and how much do the ferries cost roughly. I would love to do this trip, but just thinking how long it would take and how much it would cost? Edit: stunning video btw.
Hi James. We spent a week in Shetland and a week in Orkney staying in self catering accommodation. I can't remember how much the ferries cost but check out Northlink Ferries for current prices. We took our car and I would say it's essential if you want to see as much as we did in two weeks. Thanks for watching 🙏
Such a delightful film - I so loved seeing places on Shetland that weren’t covered in the TV series. Would have loved to see something of Fair Isle - did you get there?
Thank you very much for watching and for commenting so kindly. We passed close to Fair Isle on the ferry to Orkney but we didn't visit. From what I've seen on film it looks an amazing place ☺
Didn't know it was even possible to be homesick in your own country! This was beautifully done and much appreciated - thank you!❤️🏴
Thank you Carol for your kind comments and thank you for watching 🙏

Looks absolutely stunning Ian and strengthens my resolve to visit! Looks like weather good generally too. I see you visited our PMs spiritual home?
We only had a couple of days of rain Steve which apparently was very unusual for the time of year. We'll defo be going back.
Beautiful. I love the music and the lack of interruption with annoying talk...
Happy you enjoyed it and thanks for watching ☺🙏
