No I am using my good brush for that, I am using these brushes for many years already, still good so the answer would be no, it's not hard on the brush :)
Oh no don't be afraid that's is what they are for :) only leaving them on a jar with water, or not washing the paints off when finished might ruin them. Also try to mix colours on your palette with some cheap brush. But otherwise always paint with your good brush 🙂
