    Very nice. I learned a small part of this tune about 35-40 years ago (I am 60). About 4 bars worth - LOL. This is a nice arrangement. I may give this a go and try to pick up where I left off so long ago. Thanks!

    I first heard this tune played by Charlie Byrd ... it has always been one of my favourites. I like your easy-going relaxed style ... this suits the melody perfectly! 😁

No it is not, Patreon continue to debit your account month after month irrespective of the fact they recognise you no longer support the artist you purchased the origin sheets from. When questioned about the ongoing debits to my account Patreon state you no longer support these artists, end of story. Hi, I can see the set up of your Quilter as this: gain:11, limiter:0, bass and mid: 12 o'clock, treble:0, reverb and master: +/- 10. In what number do you put the volume and tone of your guitar? Does your set up varies in a tube amp? Thank you. Your sound and playing are amazing!

    I want to learn the chord melody method of playing jazz standards on the guitar. What do you recommend is the best thing to focus on learning first? Followed by what? The name of the notes on the fret board or ? Chords? or ? I am in book one of the Hal Leonard Guitar method btw...Or just start learning to play some songs...Or?

    • @ChrisWhitemanGuitar
      @ChrisWhitemanGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is a difficult style to teach yourself. I would recommend finding a good teacher in your area to guide you. Learning note names and chords are important, and listening a lot to great players.

    Hi, Chris. I purchased the arrangement for this and was curious about the Basie chords at the end. They are C6(sus)4, Co7 and C9. Could they also be called Dm7, G7b9 and C9 instead? That way they would fit more as a ii V I cadence. Or does it matter and I'm thinking about it too hard:) Thanks again!

    • @ChrisWhitemanGuitar
      @ChrisWhitemanGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stanley, the Basie ending is different than a ii-V-I , so I wouldn't think of it that way. Co7 is not G7b9. It would have to be Bo7 to function as a G7b9. Hope that helps!

    Very well done as usual Chris , was just wondering if you could put one together for the tune "you turned the tables on me" in the style of joe pass / Ella Fitzgerald. Appreciate your music dude, you definitely help many players,coming from a 62 yr old .

    Would you mind if you do a lesson on "runs"? From what I heard from Joe pass, I feel like he's just messing around with scales/arpeggios/etc very quickly, but they're not really in 4/4 time. Do you think about time or more focused on resolving the 16th note run on the next chord tone?

    • @ChrisWhitemanGuitar
      @ChrisWhitemanGuitar  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      sure. Joe Pass was a true master of this style. He had an amazing bebop vocabulary and was able to move between lines and chords so smoothy. When playing solo many people take liberties with the time, but most of his stuff is in time.He uses a lot of advanced rhythmic ideas which can sometimes sound like they are not in time (playing over the bar line, syncopation, etc). I always think about time. Even if I'm playing rubato, or out of time, I'm thinking about the phrase. This version of Satin Doll is in time throughout.

    I love these chord melodies. Do you ever voice the harmony above the melody note if the melody goes really low, and just play the melody note louder than the upper harmony notes?

    • @ChrisWhitemanGuitar
      @ChrisWhitemanGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. I usually don’t voice the melody low, but not a bad idea. I have a hard time getter it to work
