Instead of locking the car and waiting for it to go to sleep, it's a much better idea to just disconnect the battery before messing with the airbag. Other than that nice job.
@@Racerxwilly thanks for the info mate. The issue you have disconnecting the battery is that your start and stop may lose coding and it could play up with various different modules. But yeh thanks for the feedback :)
@sadiagnostics just noticed your reply. If you disconnect and then reconnect the battery in a specific order, which for bimmer is negative first, then positive while disconnecting, and then positive first when reconnecting IIRC. You shouldn't be having any coding or module issues. Just make sure the battery is fully charged before re installing it. P.s. I mainly commented for others sake so someone doesn't get an airbag to the face etc. About the battery bit. I have personally fried a frm module on a e90 after installing a sub while re connecting the battery, which I had let drain to like sub 9v while listening to radio before disconnecting. That sucked. Cheers.
@@Racerxwillyhey! I’m about to install a steering wheel spacer, and will need to remove the steering. Disconnecting the battery as you said avoiding having the airbag coming off? I heard you should also wait some time after disconnecting to the system is “discharged”.
Hi sorry for late reply shouldn’t do as long as you don’t turn ignition on or you can disconnect the battery. But nothing is guarantee as the newer the car the smarter the system is but this waive mentioned should hopefully bypass the airbag light…
Depends if the car has already got paddle shift then yes if it doesn’t and you buy one with paddle shift then you’ll need to code it and require it form the BCM TO THE steering wheel….
Thanks . After reinstalling the airbag my horn doesn’t work. For some reason after I installed the airbag back in it’s soo tight inside that there’s no room. It almost looks like it’s too big and it bearly fit. I had to push it in really hard for it to click back in but. Like I said when I press it down it’s solid. No room.
Finally, someone who is doing it the right way and the easier way! Thanks.
Thanks I found using 2 butter knife’s jam em in and wiggle and pull 👍 loads easier
This guy zipped through the hardest part
The push?
Brrooooo you are theee bestt!!! Thank YOUUUUUU!!!! 🫡✨

Are paddle shifters working on the new steering wheel since there was no paddle shifters on old one ?
Im wondering also
Probably have to code them in but I’m not sure
Did anyone figured out if it needs coding?
@@amauryfeliciano2209it does 👍🏻

Can find the spring latch with the hook, you have more info about this
It the hardest thing to locate and he didn't show where it fits whilst the centre was off
will it make a difference if i use a new steering wheel with a new airbag? does it register it as a foreign part?
