@@TEAMGETHELP Total strikes were close. DDP landed the bigger shots. Volume was split down the middle in the relevant rounds. If it was 50/50 in the judges head, the takedowns would have made the difference. Simple as that. Get over it.

Ddp literally admitted he was crawling into the bathroom afterwards while Sean was snowboarding. Haymaking someone's shoulder 50× isn't 'doing more damage,' get over it🍻
Almost every fighter not at Xtreme Couture has judged it in favor of DDP. Stricklands fans are in peak excuse, seethe and cope mode. (guys you can't point at strike stats in every other round while ignoring the impact of each shot and then ignore that DDP out struck him in round 2, the round that decided the fight on most scorecards)
And also let's not forget DDP was the aggressor for 90% of the fight if not more.
You can ignore strike stats if you actually pay attention to landed strikes/rolled with/vs missed. They were giving dricus strikes that didn't even land. He was outlanded and out damaged in every round but 4. Walking forward and throwing shit that misses isn't winning a fight

He wasn’t shut down, he did 100% of the damage in the fight besides an accidental headbutt. Can’t say u were shut down when u never got hit, couldn’t be held down. DDP button mashed for 5 rounds as he got pieced up. He landed 10% of his strikes

I love your videos, but I have some questions. First, if straight punches weren't working, then why did DDPs face look like he ran face first into a wall? If Sean's punches werem't working, then why did he land twice the significant strikes as DDP? With all due respect, to say he wasn't landing is absurd. What you got right is that he checked all his kicks, which is why DDP was limping out of the arena. So Sean landed double the strikes, and checked all the kicks, but lost? Why? Because of takedowns that led to zero damage, that Sean got right up from every single time? It's not a wrestling match, and takedowns that don't lead to anything should be worth nothing on a scorecard. In conclusion, DDP is an awkward, strong, durable guy who otherwise sucks. It wasn't Sean's best fight, but he won. The fact that a guy as technically bad as DDP is now the champ is depressing. He must be the worst Middleweight Champ in the history of the UFC.

MMA is the only sport where the Athletes and fans never bothered to learn the rules and how to score it.
It's insane how complacent you guys became. You got so used to bad judging that you have a distorted notion of how to judge a round.
A round isn't score by Effectiveness (damage), Aggressiveness and Control.
A round is judged by Plan A-Effectiveness if that is equal then it goes to Plan B-Aggressiveness. If that is also equal THEN it goes to Plan C-Control.
It isn't a combination of the three. It's either one or another.
In order for Grappling to fall into Plan A- then it has to have either a strikes or sub. attempts Even advancement of positions. Without that it falls under the Plan C-Control. Which is the LAST resort to score.
Strickland connected more strikes in total and also sig. strikes in the 2nd. DPP was unable to do anything with the TD.
Judge Guilherme Bravo who is considered the best MMA judge on the planet and is the speaker of the Herb Dean course gave the win to Strickland.
The man is actually one of the few people that are allowed to sign certifications for Judges.
Too bad that the Athletic Commission doesn't demand said certification. And we end up with judges like Derek Cleary who was in three split decisions just in the 297.
It leaves room for judges to score based in personal preference than the actual rules.
And it'll continue to be like that untill people like you (big platform) doesn't urge your peers and fans to read the Criteria.
If that title fight was the same fight, but instead of strickland it was Jon jones, dricus would not have the belt right now. I love the ufc but it's sad how some people are under a different set of rules, whether the ufc wants to admit it or not.

It's been proven time and time again that the vast majority of these pro fighters don't know how to score fights lmao. That said this was a close one. Rounds 1, 4, and 5 have a clear winner but rounds 2 and 3 are basically coin flips.

End of argument, don't beileve me, watch it yourself, first two round is enough, since Strickland won the 5th, and you'll get your answer.
1, 2, 5 for Strickland easy, since striking is at the top of judging criteria and since it's not 2010, so naked TDs also stand next to 0 points.
3rd as well goes to Strickland or the best argument I can make for DDP here is 10:10, only 4th goes to DDP.

Judging criteria is based on EFFECTIVE striking, which is landing a legal strike on your opponent, not hiting the air or opponent's shoulders.
Even the argument about aggression is void in the light of all that wiffing, read the rules:
"Effective aggressiveness means moving forward and landing a legal strike."
..and, AND!
You move forward while punching air, you get nothing, which is what DDP did most of the fight, while Strickland was countering him effectively, you saw all of it on DDP's face.
If you score punching the air or you "feel" that one was more aggressive than the other, then yeah, I have no arguments.

I've been light sparring with some pals and I've been watching Cory and the improvements are noticeable, at first I was unwilling to show them but eventually I thought f*ck it Im just bein selfish, but if you planned on truly competing at a high level this is the kinda knowledge you want and you dont want your opponent knowing - even seen cory asked in an interview which books he's read that influenced him the most and he only gave one or two and then said he didnt wanna share to much cos it's just free advice to his opponents

Round 2 really could use a detailed strike by strike. Strickland nullified DDP's offense with teep kicks and stiff jabs. I think Strickland took it concisely. Hopefully they make a play by play video soon.

Sean was trying to not lose the fight always moving backwards. It was clear he wasn't the dominant fighter as he usually likes to be moving forward as it is also where his jabs are more effective as they have more power when the body's momentum is behind them. Sure he landed alot of strikes but with very little effect which the judges took into account.

Sean's style is interesting like Cory said because he's much more square on than a purely boxing Philly shell guy. Many of these guys with this style in boxing are more side on and have a wider stance allowing good balance particularly with hooks, thus giving you more options when the opponents head is offset. Philly shell boxing guys tend to have the ability to turn the jab into a hook and double up on hooks with relative ease. They tend to move comfortably on the outside before planting their feet to fire combinations. Also, as Cory also noted the down side of the wide stance in MMA is you end up giving up the ability to check kicks easily.

If Sean could just add an extra gear that he gets into.. He could win a lot more of his fights. He has insane defense to striking, gets up quick from take downs & deals with leg kicks pretty well. DDP needs to work on not being so sloppy with his striking & his movement he has really hurky jurky movement with awkward balance. DDP could generate a lot more power through his base if he gets a better control of his balance. Just some things I've observed. It was such a close fight because Strickland is so good at blocking shots with his arms so not much lands flush.

DDP is the worst matchup for Sean. But I still think Sean won the fight, watch round 2 in isolation and its fairly clear. If DDP losses the title I think Strickland gets it back much easier than a rematch.
