I've made gift bags for the last few years, Julie. They are always appreciated whatever you put inside them! Wrapping with paper can be a backbreaking task, especially if you leave it all till the last minute. I got a Christmas fabric remnant bundle from Fabric Love last year with loads of different seasonal designs and all different sized pieces. Ideal for a variety of bags and great value too.
I have three ideas so far, although I am reducing the amount of sewing for Christmas gifts this year. First up is the Easy Hobo Bag, found on TH-cam. I have made three, they are already gifted and loved. Number four is cut out and ready to sew as a gift to November. Then there are A5 Diaries with crazy patchwork embroidered covers and pockets/envelopes for gifting vouchers. The three teenagers in my life all wish for vouchers this year. I will follow all the vlogs to pick up a few more ideas.
Great ideas, Julie! The plaid flannel for the PJs is just up my alley. I tend to use fabric I like for gifts like that unless I know the recipient’s preference. 😂 I enjoy making gift bags for holidays and birthdays; sometimes I use it like wrapping paper for square objects and attach the back folds with Velcro. It’s a perfect way to use up scraps. Love your jumpsuit fabric and fit. It’s fabulous on you! 😘
Thank you so much Lynn. I’d be so happy for my family to gift me flannel PJ’s for Christmas! That would be one less pair for me to make 🤣 Fabric gift bags are like an extra birthday/Christmas treat. Anything that reduces the use of cellotape is an absolute win for me 😍
So lovely to see your ideas Julie. Those Lazy Pants are such a fab idea and inside a bag with other goodies too. What a wonderful gift to receive. Love that you’re waiting to be inspired by the other vloggers too and thank you for introducing a new pattern company. I’m heading to Parrot and Parsnip right now ❤
Thank you Kathrine 😍 it’s a shame I’m the only sewer in my family, I’d definitely be requesting lazy pants pjs in a travel bag 🤣 I think you will love Anna from Parrot & Parsnip, she is quite a delightful character and the name comes from the parrots she saw at her allotment whilst harvesting parsnips, how lovely is that! ♥️😍
Love your gift ideas Julie, they’re all gifts that I would be happy with ❤ really like your idea of presenting pj trousers inside a matching bag. The laptop sleeve is fabulous and I agree with you on finding the right size/shape sling bag, so thanks for highlighting the Parrot & Parsnip pattern, I think I’ll put that on my Christmas wish list 😁. Thank you so much for sharing 😊
Wow love this so much! Thanks for making my bag! 🥰 Can’t wait to see it! I fear the name origin isn’t as interesting as you might hope, we just have a lot of those green parakeets on our allotment, so I came up with it there.. perhaps whilst harvesting parsnips 😂
Love your outfit Julie- you have some gorgeous gifts planned there will be a lot of happy people when they receive them. Thanks so much for supporting the challenge x
That snuggle fabric is just stunning! Whoever receives that will be a lucky bunny. The new Tilly and the buttons drew jumper would be great and lose fitting and you could mix it with scraps xx
Thanks Becki ♥️ 1 saw the new T&TB last night and wondered if I had enough snuggles fabric to make Drew tops for triplet teens 💡🧐 plenty other colours in there to match up scraps 😍
I’ve been using fabric as gift wrap for a couple of years now. I’ve seen them gifted on, used as peg bags, storing Christmas bits in so it’s quite rewarding… and I hate cello tape 🤣
Your enthusiasm is so infectious- even to me who doesn’t sew for others!!! Getting tempted though 🤔. Hope your family don’t watch your vlogs- no surprises for them!!! Happy Gift Sewing😊. Lynne
Ah thanks Lynne 😍 You would be surprised by how rewarding it is to make gifts that others appreciate. I think the very simple ones go down best. Scrunchies as stocking fillers are always a big win and very little time to make 👍😍♥️
@ you can, but it looks fine. I am going to make a case for my iPhone as the case Ritchie ordered me isn’t going to arrive until the 21st. I watched this and thought I can make one for my phone lol 🥰
Thank you 🤩 If you’re referring to what I’m wearing it’s the Ellie & Mac jumpsuit/ romper suit. If you’re referring to the top on my mannequin, it’s Tilly & the Buttons Freya top ♥️😍
Hi Sam It’s an Ellie & Mac South Shore jumpsuit. It’s a stretch velvet from What Bec sews destash last year, the kid it’s a designer dead stock. I look like a Christmas tree in it 😬😍😍

That’s great to hear! I can just imagine what would happen if I went back to wrapping paper! I don’t think that would go down well 🤪😍❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful ideas!!❤
Thank you so much ♥️😍
i love parrot and parsnip she has such a soothing voice too.
Indeed! Anna definitely has a soothing calmness about her. I’d love a rummage through her vintage stash 😲😍❤️

I’ve just finished making the slouch bag and it’s lovely! Perfect size for the teenagers who’ll receive them 😍♥️

Thank you Anna, I’ve made the slouch bag now, just got to do the handle😍 I love that the name and logo came from your allotment 😍💕
Great video thank you lots of good ideas 😊😊😊
Thank you Robyn ❤️😍

Thanks Alison, did I say it was my favourite vlogger tour challenge of the year ? 🤣🤣🤣
A blanket with sleeves would be a well received gift for me in that gorgeous flower fabric. I love it. Great ideas thanks for the inspiration😊
That does sound very snuggly. I have a fleece blanket with feet and I love wrapping that around me to watch a film on a cold evening 👌😍❤️
Can’t beat comfy pjs! Great gift idea. Yes a T-shirt or vest top in blue or red would be great 🎄🎄🎄
Who doesn’t love PJ’s 🥳🤪
@ Dee 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Lucky are the recipients of your gifts! Can’t wait to see what you make with the last fabric.
I’m looking forward to seeing what I do with the last fabric too 🤣😍💕
Lovely ideas. I’ve been following Anna at the parrot and parsnip , love the bag pattern and your chosen fabric :-)
I really like her work and her ethos. I am intrigued by the name 😁😍♥️
@ same. Anna is very calm and good at explaining :-) Name is fab lol

Loving the snuggly floral fabric 😍
I am looking forward to the AGTN idea that makes me want to cut that fabric up 😍♥️
Some great ideas Julie. Looking forward to seeing what you make with the daisy fabric you showed at the end x
The Daisy fabric is too snuggly to stay in the stash! 😍💕
Ooo loving the slouch bag fabrics ❤
It wasn’t as tricky to make as I thought. It’s a cute size 😍
@@Julie_sews_her_own_clothes looking forward to seeing it xxx
I love the idea of using scraps to make a gift wrapping bag instead of using paper, etc. I might have to give this a go this year 😀

@ it’s brilliant 🤩

Great vlog Julie, thanks for sharing, really love the bag pattern, I must have a look at that ❤❤
I just made the body of the bag and need to add a strap. I really like it and it was fun to sew 😍
Love the laptop case. So simple and colourful ❤
So much better than the corporate black one. I might redo the top binding. I think it bothers me that I didn’t take enough time to sew it nicely 🙈
@ you can, but it looks fine. I am going to make a case for my iPhone as the case Ritchie ordered me isn’t going to arrive until the 21st. I watched this and thought I can make one for my phone lol 🥰
Yes you absolutely can! ♥️
lovely vlog Julie...
Thank you Frances 😍❤️
