He started eating the croutons, and I picked one up, ran it through the cheese sauce from the mushrooms and gave it to him to try that way. 😂 Any excuse to pick up some more ooey gooey goodness. 💯 😂

As a Louisiana Girl, I love these two guys love our food! They are so cute to see then taste our food!! Carry on guys! They should try several versions of shrimp and grits. Every restaurant does it differently! Enjoy being in the south. Cheers to a great time!! Love from a Southerner!! 🦀🦞🦐
C'mon, ya'll. Let's teach them the word "sop". The technique they are doing, so wonderfully might I add, are sopping up dem biscuits with some gravy!! 😂❤
The reason the Bloody Mary and the shrimp and grits are so intensely spiced is that, after a long night of drinking, they wake you up in the morning! You need that intense spice to kind of jolt you back to being sober enough to get through your day, lol. So glad you found these classics, shrimp and grits is my favorite meal of all time.
There is literally nothing better and more tasty than southern food. I had never had it until I married my husband and never looked back to regular food.😋
We were literally in New Orleans when this video dropped so we swung by here and LORD! The Sausage and gravy and the chicken biscuit were incredibly good. Still dreaming of that gravy. Thanks Jolly for the recommendation!

to have biscuits and gravy while a little hungover is the perfect way to eat it. nothing beats that hangover like a plate of biscuits and gravy, potatoes, and some eggs.
These videos make me so happy seeing southern cuisine tried for the first time. I honestly don’t eat shrimp and grits for breakfast hardly ever. It’s more of a brunch/lunch/dinner item for me and it varies on how good it can be depending on how it’s prepared and what variations they do. Grits are one of my favorite foods when done correctly and biscuits and gravy will always be top tier. Even “bad” biscuits and gravy are still pretty good but when you get the good stuff it’s one of the most comforting and delicious foods you can have. Great video guys!
Luke should film cleanup after the shoot. Finishing and reviewing the leftover food to post on a separate channel. I've got a name too... Leftovers with Luke.
When you all get Luke or Ducky to try the foods on the side just doubles the confirmation of deliciousness of the food they're trying and a bonus to the video too! I'm glad to have caught this notification this morning! ☮️ and 💕 Update, I am watching this video again and just barely noticed you both went inside Willa Jean for the shrimp and grits! Shrimp and cheese grits are one of my all time favorite dishes. My mom always joked that you’ll know when grits are done when it feels like you’re stirring wallpaper paste lol. Especially if you make it with bacon fat. The whole Jolly team’s love of American food warms my heart. Y’all are always welcome here
Thank you for doing these videos. Sometimes I think US cuisine is underrated on the world stage and you are helping change that perception a video at a time. Much obliged, fellows, for showing the world how very, very good our food can be. As the other commentators have pointed out, we took the best from all over the world and ran with it. Add to that glorious international panoply an historical perspective (for example, our biscuits date back to early European settlers- think your navy's hardtack as the starting point- to which we added a bit of rise, fat and other flavors that improved over time) and an understanding of what ethnic groups settled where and a wonderfully complex picture emerges. You could travel the US for many years and still not taste everything there is to offer, but you are both young enough to give it a real go. Thank you for showing that we do not just eat crisps, boxed dinners and swill garishly-colored sugary drinks. Of course, we like those things too🙂but the reality of what we eat lies far beyond these. And the generous South holds a truly unique and special place in US cuisine.
I lived half my life in South Carolina, and shrimp & grits is my favourite dish. I ate grits most mornings for breakfast, and now I order them from Amazon so I can eat my grits in the UK. I still make shrimp & grits often for myself and my friends. I also love American style biscuits and make them from time to time. My mum has to send me the biscuit flour because you can't get it in the UK, even on Amazon.
It's all purpose flour with baking powder. It was actually created by an English man. Lol. Some have a little salt in it too. You can use all purpose flour, just add baking soda.
@CristaFree “biscuit flour” is made from red winter wheat and especially fine milled. It’s awful for bread but wonderful for biscuits and cakes. All purpose flour with baking powder and salt is self-rising flour. White Lily is a staple brand as well as Martha White.
@CaptainSpaldingOICU812 I detect no lies here. I used to live in Oklahoma & wondered why my biscuits turned slightly golden on the inside & weren't that tender. Now I live in West Virginia and pick up White Lily self-raising flour at Food Lion & my biscuits come out beautifully white inside and as soft and as tender as can be. It really makes a big difference!
Well I'll be a three legged mule! Why has no one ever told be you need biscuit flour?! No wonder my biscuits never seem quite right. I live in Utah, how can I get this flour?
I have been watching this channel for a few years and have not yet commented. But, I wanted to say that I always look forwards to your videos and feel joy seeing that a new one has been posted. Thank you for all the hard work and love put into Jolly and Korean Englishmen!
I love watching your entire series. I lived in the UK for 11 years and so your UK comments are refreshing and always humorous. Well done... keep it up! please
It won't be the food episode without Ollie describing a food that's either growing on the forest bush, scrapped off a wet basement floor or oozing out of an abandoned above pool with green water 👍😂😂
I love these guys so much. I watch Jolly and KE videos after listening to Mr. Ballen tell stories, because they are mostly (but not always) dark, scary and frequently sad. Or watching or news stories (I'm in the US, and there are a LOT of not-good things happening here). So I come to Jolly to lighten my mood and end my viewing day on a positive note. And they never fail to cheer me up. Heck, I think just watching without sounds could make me smile. Their expressions are priceless.
Yes, as a southerner, I can confirm Willa Jean's brunch is legit.... god I hope you guys get a video on here of some French Market coffee and a beignet snack, truly a New Orleans thing... would be like going to Texas and not getting brisket
It's so nice and funny to see how Josh sometimes reacts to Ollie as if he had cracked an almost unsolvable equation after a long period of deliberation: "Oh you are going into the gravy with the fried chicken!" 😄🥰
It's great to see you enjoy all the great food America has to offer. I enjoy your personnel videos and the British students trying American foods also. Thank You.
It was brought up in one of their earlier videos, but i can totally see a boom in their English Pub scene if each pub made their own Gumbo and sold it by the pint. It's the perfect food for that environment/community!!
You're completely right, if "english pubs" regardless of location had a trend where they would make a cheap pub food stew, like a gumbo or whatever, and served it in a pint glass as a fun vibe thing, that would do fantastic numbers. Some drunk asshole sipping on a pint of gumbo right alongside his beer.
The best thing about Jolly is the brits discovering they have taste buds. Its like seeing a baby fawn stand and walk for the first time. "yes that is what those are for little one"

Stripping grits aren't typically a breakfast, more of a brunch, lunch and dinner. Chicken and biscuits with gravy. Pretty common in the south and it's a fantastic meal. Ollie you are dead on for dipping that chicken biscuit in your gravy. That's a very southern thing to do. Welcome to the south my friend
It's nice to see these two guys come to our country and appreciate what it has to offer. I am from Arizona and love hot sauce (I put it on everything) and the food here is very different from the southern food they are eating. I would love for you guys to come to Arizona and experience our food as well as food from some of the Native American tribes. I've travelled to Europe and lived in Germany for 2 years so I appreciated all of the different countries that I have been to as well as really enjoyed the cuisine in some of those places. I would have loved to travel to the UK but, I never got the chance. Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves! Cheers!

Guys, I grew up and live in the South. I’m glad to see our traditional foods raised to the level of “cuisine”. But I must admit that the simple foods my mother made, and the family reunions, really are something I miss. Casseroles galore, various peas and beans, cornbread and rolls, fried chicken, ham, and the most wonderful desserts you can imagine. Sadly, I am old now and relatives have mostly passed away.
yes cuisine! too often the south is said to only eat deep fried food. That misconception saddens me because they miss out on all the wonderful things we offer. What I would give right now to have smothered cabbage and some peas with cornbread or okra and tomatoes over rice!
Many of those are definitely southern. But casseroles are a Midwestern thing. We make anything into a casserole. Growing up my mom made everything from scratch except cream of mushroom soup and we had a casserole once a week lol. Tater Tot casserole is one of the best casserole IFYKYK
I love that they loved the Biscuits and gravy so much. It's American comfort food at it's best! When I go on a healthy kick, this is what I tend to crave.
If you come to the north end of the Mississippi you won't find nearly the same bold flavors, but you will find a lot of hearty comfort food done well. There is also Owamni by the Sioux Chef, a restaurant that uses no ingredients introduced to America by Europeans.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the coconut cake that appeared at the very end of your video. To my palate, that was the best thing served to you for that meal. I make a fresh coconut cake every Christmas for the family dinner. Iam 72 and coconut cake has been a scrumptious part of every Christmas I can remember.
I grew up on biscuits and gravy glad y’all love them like I do. I love shrimp and grits too but they are more of an acquired taste. I applaud you guys for setting out on all your adventures enjoy!

I don’t eat them all the time because I try to be as healthy as possible, which can be very difficult at times here lol, however, if something is good, it is just good and you go for it. I was soooo satisfied when he dipped that chicken biscuit in the gravy. I was rooting for bro and he came through!
Biscuits and gravy is also the best hangover cure, especially paired with a large ice cold sweet tea!
You mispelled menudo.
@@DannyBoyZerojajajajaja
The fact that biscuits with gravy stole the show is not a surprise. But it is an always welcoming fact.
Biscuits and Gravy are *the* best savory breakfast food in the world. I will die on this hill.
Maybe an argument could be made that Dosa is a strong second place item.
Brits experiencing flavor for the first time brings tears to my eyes😢
LMAO, love it
Like those videos of warhouse trapped farm animals going outside for the first time.
The brits are free...
What an original joke...
You copy and pasting this comment for every video brings tears to mine...
Same😂
Dipping that chicken biscuit into the gravy looked like a religious experience. Welcome to southern food!
Once you dip a fluffy biscuit filled with juicy fried chicken into sausage gravy, you'll know God exists and He is good lol
@@coolbrotherf127 people often use the intricate design of the universe as evidence for creation but the real answer has been in the southern US this whole time
Pro move right there!
It did
Southern Instinct: Activated 🤣
as someone who is born and raised in louisiana, It is so cool seeing people from another country try our food and love it. Everyone deserves to try food in the south once in their lifetime
Biscuits and sausage gravy is one of those dishes that when you initially look at it you’re like why? Then you eat it and it just blows you away!
As a Louisiana Girl, I love these two guys love our food! They are so cute to see then taste our food!! Carry on guys! They should try several versions of shrimp and grits. Every restaurant does it differently! Enjoy being in the south. Cheers to a great time!! Love from a Southerner!! 🦀🦞🦐
Honestly, I'm from California but would do a week in your state just trying different red beans and rice! Love Louisiana cooking, incomparable
C'mon, ya'll. Let's teach them the word "sop". The technique they are doing, so wonderfully might I add, are sopping up dem biscuits with some gravy!! 😂❤
That’s what I said…sopping up that gravy😂
Right lol? My grandma’s ultimate compliment for a handsome man was “Well, I’d put him on plate and sop him up with a biscuit!” 😂
Sopping is a thing! My father was the best sopper! Lol
@@angelleach6866 I love that! Ima steal it and use it myself! Lol!
@@RuthGabriel-i6x 😂😂😂 Yes! She would’ve absolutely loved that!
Spice in all meals is necessary
There is literally nothing better and more tasty than southern food. I had never had it until I married my husband and never looked back to regular food.😋
We were literally in New Orleans when this video dropped so we swung by here and LORD! The Sausage and gravy and the chicken biscuit were incredibly good. Still dreaming of that gravy. Thanks Jolly for the recommendation!
Biscuits and gravy is its own food group 😋
Ollie learns quick dipping everything in the gravy. It is almost like he was a southern American in a previous life.
I'm pretty sure we'd adopt him. He's welcome to be Southern. We love funny people. He'd be invited to everybody's house all the time.
Louisiana definitely has the some of the most amazing southern cuisine I’ve seen! This series is so entertaining to watch👍
Im so happy you guys love biscuits and gravy as much as you do! I lived witha friend and they never really ate it before i made it. I always cooked so he asked for our last day living together if Id make it as he said hed miss it. It really is like a warm hug. ☺
My (not so) secret ingriedent is sage jimmy dean sausage. Cook that as your gravy and it makes the best home made gravy.
Try Tennessee Pride sausage once. My favorite.
to have biscuits and gravy while a little hungover is the perfect way to eat it. nothing beats that hangover like a plate of biscuits and gravy, potatoes, and some eggs.
Biscuits and sausage gravy will always be a top tier dish! Luke needs his own series!
Luke should film cleanup after the shoot. Finishing and reviewing the leftover food to post on a separate channel. I've got a name too... Leftovers with Luke.
@@tony_25or6to4haha, great idea
When you all get Luke or Ducky to try the foods on the side just doubles the confirmation of deliciousness of the food they're trying and a bonus to the video too! I'm glad to have caught this notification this morning! ☮️ and 💕 Update, I am watching this video again and just barely noticed you both went inside Willa Jean for the shrimp and grits! We ate there when we were in New Orleans 2 years ago! WE love that place and recommend it too! Great place for delicious food!
Shrimp and cheese grits are one of my all time favorite dishes. My mom always joked that you’ll know when grits are done when it feels like you’re stirring wallpaper paste lol. Especially if you make it with bacon fat. The whole Jolly team’s love of American food warms my heart. Y’all are always welcome here
By the way - Dredging your biscuits in the South is a must ... it is called "SOPPING" ..... and it is GREAT ! GBjj
Can’t let good gravy go to waste! If you’re outta biscuits, there’s always Sunbeam BBQ bread (if you can find it, I miss it…)
Thank you for doing these videos.
Well said
Olly was meant to be a Southerner. He went straight into dipping into the gravy! Love it!!
Zero hesitation. Didn’t even take a moment to THINK about it. True Southerner.
@CaptainSpaldingOICU812 That's what I use! I went back to Charleston earlier this month and picked up 6 bags.
"... because, why the heck not? ... America!" Congrats, guys. You finally get it. Love your content. ❤
Perfect reactions for a perfect brunch with the birthday boy, Ollie. 🩷🎉
I love watching your entire series. I lived in the UK for 11 years and so your UK comments are refreshing and always humorous. Well done... keep it up! please
What part of the UK did you reside in? How'd you like it?
I lived in Hertfordshire, St. Albans in the Cathedral area.
I rarely watch reaction videos, but some of the ones of this trip from people in the south have been hilarious, loving this series!
You should see their older ones, they are just as good especially their first visits to the south
As a Southerner, watching them enjoy our food makes us very Jolly :)
It's so nice and funny to see how Josh sometimes reacts to Ollie as if he had cracked an almost unsolvable equation after a long period of deliberation: "Oh you are going into the gravy with the fried chicken!" 😄🥰
I love you guys! My mother was British and we lived in the UK for a few years and you two just warm my heart. Keep up the good work!
Frankly I’m surprised an American hasn’t opened a biscuits and gravy shop in the UK. If I had the resources I’d do it myself.
Yah like texas bbq and such isnt particularly doable but biscuits and gravy is easy to get ingredients for
The best thing about Jolly is the brits discovering they have taste buds. Its like seeing a baby fawn stand and walk for the first time. "yes that is what those are for little one"
🙄
I'm a grandma and I approve of the hangover bowl! I'll 100% be ready to make it for my grandkids. No judgment either, just like my grandma Hilda did for me. As long as I don't drive after drinking. Thems the rules ❤. Be safe
I live in Baton Rouge now and have lived in NOLA. I visit my daughter who goes to Tulane and this is our spot. I’ve had biscuits and gravy everywhere. Willa Lean’s has the best ever. Not even close. Period, the end! The hangover bowl is wonderful too!
Going for the gravy with the chicken biscuit is a true american move.
Absolutely! A side of sausage gravy is mandatory w chicken and biscuits!
@@369motoman Coming from the southern Midwest I could not agree more. I always end up making way more gravy than I have biscuits for lol
One of us! One of us!!!
It makes me so happy when people discover southern cooking. feeds the soul. (DESTROYS the cardiovascular system.)
But you die happy
Stripping grits aren't typically a breakfast, more of a brunch, lunch and dinner. Chicken and biscuits with gravy. Pretty common in the south and it's a fantastic meal. Ollie you are dead on for dipping that chicken biscuit in your gravy. That's a very southern thing to do. Welcome to the south my friend
Shrimps and grits aren't typically for breakfast because it's too strong of a flavor
I grew up eating it for breakfast and dinner. It's just one of those dishes.
Cheers!
We make grits in the house starting with Wright bacon, chopped and fried, then add uncooked grits brown slightly stir in cream and water add salt pepper. Let cook low 20 minutes. Add sharp cheddar cheese butter then serve.
Thank you Jolly for all the culinary cuisines you guys experience and present to us. ❤
your welcome
ollie makes this channel. his humor is unmatched on every episode.
You guys and your crew have the best jobs in the world!
Louisiana knows how to cook. You are welcome. Try cheese grits with barbecue. Amazing.
Ollie mopping up that gravy with the chicken biscuit is just as southern as it gets, loving the jaunt through my home state, would love to see you guys spread out and hit more than just New Orleans though, y'all pass on by if you in Lafayette!
I never get tired of watching you two!!
I have really enjoyed watching you Josh and Ollie trying so many flavors. I love shrimp and grits one of my favorites. So happy you are enjoying the south’s cooking ❤️🤗
I don't know how Ollie remains so ridiculously funny every episode 😂 My stomach hurts!
He's an absolute charmer.
He's un-selfconscious.
should have multiple compilations of Ollie's funny jokes and Josh's follow up reactions saying "You re Idiot!" or his face showing just that.

Sorry, can't agree. Tater tot casserole is the spawn of Satan in cassrole form.
I love that they loved the Biscuits and gravy so much. It's American comfort food at it's best! When I go on a healthy kick, this is what I tend to crave.
Happy Birthday Ollie
If you come to the north end of the Mississippi you won't find nearly the same bold flavors, but you will find a lot of hearty comfort food done well. There is also Owamni by the Sioux Chef, a restaurant that uses no ingredients introduced to America by Europeans.
I love how Ollie goes about explaining food stories. 😂

I live in New Orleans. I'm a huge fan of you guys and that is one of my favorite spots
It’s so nice that y’all react to good food with equal joy whether it’s the fanciest restaurant in the world or a random, unmarked hole in the wall 😁
I just love the faces that Ollie makes.
Ollie is the absolute best at dipping his toe over the line into just slightly uncomfortable commentary, the man is a genius
It warms my heart to see Brits loving our food. Something l can eat everyday puts a smile on someone else’s face ❤😊
NOLA resident here, and shrimp & grits are the quintessential gift from the gods to humankind.
I’m in UK missing my grits and eggs - oh and those biscuits and gravy! Cheers Josh and Olly! 🍻
I was wondering same thing!
Yea to bad they're skipped it..but the cookies was amazing to look at
I grew up on biscuits and gravy glad y’all love them like I do. I love shrimp and grits too but they are more of an acquired taste. I applaud you guys for setting out on all your adventures enjoy!
Bloody Mary is a drink people have with a savory breakfast when they have a hangover. It's just a weekend, or once in awhile thing.
Okay, I think it was Olly who submerged the chicken biscuit into the gravy… I literally started yelling, “you’re doing it right! Yes!! “ 😂 it’s so good that way!! I’m so happy he did that. I live in the south, and I love biscuits and gravy and chicken biscuits. I don’t eat them all the time because I try to be as healthy as possible, which can be very difficult at times here lol, however, if something is good, it is just good and you go for it.
So happy you’re having a real Southern experience like you did in Savannah. I live in Georgia by the way lol, just in case you were wondering.Lol😂 oh the Waffle House grits are not the same as homemade or higher quality restaurant style grits! Just fyi lol!
If they are thick and not salted or seasoned well, throw them out!
Food looks incredible. Really tempting me to take that 6 hour road trip and try all the restaurants Josh and Ollie went to.
