41:00 I lol'd at the "I had surgery" line because NPR had a story awhile back about people traveling to South Korea needing to get doctor's notes to return home because they got plastic surgery and no longer look like their passports.
I've been meaning to play this game for a long time, but I work at a liquor store and the document poring is a little too close to my actual job to do for recreation lol
Thank you, Johnny, after watching this I got Papers Please and played it for 9 hours straight, and now my soul is well and truly crushed. And I may play it again tonight.
This stream inspired me to pick the game up again for the first time in years and actually do a complete playthrough this time. It was going really well until right near the end, where all the wheels came off my everything and everything that could possibly explode exploded.
One of my favourite games ever as well Johnny, I can and have lost hours to this game (and a few family members along the way, inside story joke there) so im so happy you streamed this, thank you very much good sir.
That episode was a lot of fun. I wish this game was on console. Thanks for introducing it to me sir. I hope you continue the playthrough or do some more playthroughs. As always, stay well and keep being your awesome self!
I bought this game purely from watching you and Aoife play all those years ago, I don't think I ever got that far but I'm determined to play it one day and actually finish it!
Oh I love this game! I remember watching you play this on Eurogames ages ago, I specifically remember that being the point I realised you have absolutely brilliant taste in games 😊
There's a horror game that is similar to this called That's not my Neighbor where you have to make sure not to let any doppelgangers into an apartment building. It's not as complicated as this game but it's entertaining.
I know nothing about streaming setup, but is there a setting or something that mirrors the camera feed when it makes sense to put the camera on the right side? Maybe that's a pain or visually disorienting. Just a thought.
The technology does exist. How it works on a live stream is beyond me, but in Zoom meetings it's an option in the settings menu. It shouldn't be too visually disorienting unless Johnny points in the wrong direction than they are used to.
Been wondering if Johnny was still streaming and making videos, but I hadn't heard anything. It took me too long to realize I had my notifications turned off.😅 Ive got a lot to catch up on, and I'm starting with this one because I love this game too! I'm excited to see them play it!
Thanks for the stream from the VOD squad! I remember watching a friend play this game as a teen and... is there a love letter you can give to someone in order to cheer them up at some point? Because I have vague memories of suggesting that while watching them play. Anyway, this stream was a great watch, would love to see Johnny come back and finish the story on another stream, need to know how the family fares in the end^^
Bought this game same day as you and Aoife played this for Eurogamer on Late to The Party an absolute trip of a game and got myself arrested on my first playthrough
This game was a bust for me; I think it's because I'm autistic and the game doesn't tell you all the rules, so like, it says "let in citizens only" but you get busted because the photo doesn't match, but they didn't tell me to check the photos! I would fixate on the information I was given in the booklet without looking at the larger context. I think that makes it more realistic, but it was too frustrating for me. I really enjoyed watching you play, though. Not every game is for everyone, but it's fun to watch someone really enjoying themselves! Also, I need to thank you -- I know you've had people say they use your videos to fall asleep sometimes, and I had a very bad bout of insomnia the night before last -- I was literally still trying to fall asleep when the rest of the house started waking up. I finally put on one of your painting streams (because the painting stream wouldn't have video game noises in the background) and I was asleep like ten minutes later. Fortunately it wasn't a work day, so I was able to sleep in! I honestly don't know if I would've slept otherwise, so many thanks both to you and to the people who've mentioned sleeping to your vids in chat. It must be a weird complement to get, but I was genuinely so grateful. 🙏
Welcome greatest country Arstozka pleased to be watching out for large beard face man in trench-coat distributing overly large marshmallows, what ever you do so not try to converse with this man as it it know to cause confusion, the marshmallows are fine to eat and quite tasty. For those who have not seen it I highly recommend the Papers Please musical.
@@kunegund9690 Thank you, fortunately I was born 8 years before the fall, so it wasn't super big part of my life. But yeah, the game captures the essence pretty well, I'd say.
@@kunegund9690 What is probably more interesting, is that this game is basically an extension of Zimbardo prison experiment, and Johnny proved to be an excellent candidate 😂
Johnny is usually at inclusive, but ACAB is offensive, alienating and dangerous to at least one of their loyal viewers. I'm not mad, just very disappointed.
Obra Dinn is my second favourite game of all time (after Skyrim), but I will never play Papers Please because I absolutely cannot stand time pressure in games. It's a shame because the detail hunting is right up my alley, but it is what it is.
I feel you. Detail hunting isn't easy for my brain at the best of times, but if I can take my time and there's reasonable margin for error, I quite enjoy it. But time pressure in games both sends my stress levels up and plummets my patience^^' Papers Please looks such a great game, so it's great I get to experience it through a streamer that enjoys it so much.
Since watching this I can't stop singing 'Your passport's expiiiired' to the tune of this girl is on fire
“It’s a dystopian and i was feeling sassy” is my favorite line of the stream thanks Johnny!
Been a while since I watched one of your streams, and my Guinea Pig Frisky started popcorning (happy jumping) when she heard your voice.
41:00 I lol'd at the "I had surgery" line because NPR had a story awhile back about people traveling to South Korea needing to get doctor's notes to return home because they got plastic surgery and no longer look like their passports.
Johnny's rebuttals to "I was busy" give me life. "well you can get busy REAPPLYING!"🤣
When Johnny has money they heat and feed their family. When Johnny has no money they heat and cook with their family
Vod squad checking in, it's going to be a scorcher today so 4 hours of celebrating the glory that is Arstotzka sounds like just the ticket.
I've been meaning to play this game for a long time, but I work at a liquor store and the document poring is a little too close to my actual job to do for recreation lol
Entirely fair
What a lovely good vibes person Johnny is. Really enjoyed spending this time here thank you
I needed this today. Perfect game to cheer me up. On the positive I did book to get my back tattoo finished finally.

One of the best first indie games I played, along with FtL and The Stanley Parable
Ah, our favorite scofflaw, Georgie. Or as Jack Septiceye called him, "My lovely little potato man."
Aw, what? I missed this because I was watching a different Papers Please playthrough!
11 years??? What the hell happened??
Too much. Way too much.

I will die for Jorji

Well, it could've ended worse. You could've denied him and had him go back through the crowd of people.
This was great, would you ever consider streaming Not Tonight, the post brexit dystopian spirual successor of this game?

Just grabbed this on Android:)
Glory to Arse-stotkza am i right
It's very interesting seeing someone who never experienced living under communist rule playing this. For me, just watching this feels uneasy.
It's good to know it's accurate, but it sucks you had to go through this.
