Here's my story, Steve: we were water skiing, so 3 people in boat can confirm this. We're about 1/4 to 1/3 mile from dam, just taking a break. Late summer, lake shaded where we were. Very steep terrain on one side, docks and boaters on other side, lake is about 1/4mi wide at that point. As we float around, suddenly a set of antlers with deer attached is swimming across the lake!! We were shocked, 4-5 point buck was in 50-75ft deep water swimming along, but beginning to breath heavily, needing to NOT be swimming any more. Apparently had come down the steep side, entered the water and swam a good 50-60ft toward middle of lake! The deer sees us plus two or three other boaters that also see this deer! The various boats are maybe 100ft apart but could clearly see the deer! Finally, the deer turns back toward the steep side he had come from and calmly climbs out of the water, takes a bow, and we all hold score cards showing 10(except the Russians, it's always the Russians!)! Okay, he didn't take a bow, but we were all talking from boat to boat as sound travels easily across water! Everyone popped a beer, toasting our good fortune for having seen such a thing! I gave the deer the 'call me' sign, but he didn't have a phone! True story!! (Except the bowing and phone parts!)

The smartest thing an orca can do if an penguin dives on a boat would be to hide under it until it comes out

so there are no crocodiles there
