I think the advantage that AI players have in this game is that they lack the ability to be petty.

I love how this week, the game's AI is always one step ahead of them, while last week, they tried as hard as they could to lose to that game's AI and won anyway. No matter what, they just can't catch a break.

Just noticed that at the time when the current bid on Pacific Avenue is currently 450, that the original price of 300 is pulsing pink as if the game itself is screaming, 'what are you two doing,' at the grumps along side me.

Just a reminder, AI difficulty doesn't make them make smarter choices. It just gives them "luckier" rolls. A hard AI will almost never land on a "bomb" space.
That's something that really bothers me in games: AI isn't playing better, AI has a literal unfair edge over you. But, I guess that's Monopoly and the nature of the beast: luck is what makes the difference, not tactics, so a 'hard' AI can only be achieved with weighted dice. Monopoly wouldn't have its message of how unfair capitalism is if it were fair.
The Jackie Chan thing they talk about around 14:26 is from "The Game Grumps THROAT EXPERIENCE - MegaMan V: PART 3 FINALE", around 20:07. Arin was talking about a guy "something Chan or something" who was like the original acapella guy before Smooth McGroove, and Danny asks "Jackie?"
When Dan says "I'm out after this one" at 11:36, I was waiting for "this one" to mean a bid of 100 and make Arin win it for $602. Can't leave him money for houses and with him that close to GO.
I like how not even 2 minutes into the episode and Arin & Dan were already spending way more than necessary on a brown property

Arin being so self aware that he predicts comments calling him out for saying Leo had 10 times more money when it's closer to 5 times is so funny to me, because I was just saying in my head that it's not 10 times, only to have Arin correct himself a second later.

And they continue to DRAMATICALLY overestimate the AI in this game. Pretty sure the AI knows what things are "worth", so they dip when an auction goes too far off the retail price, and they don't start an auction on a space that'd give an opponent a Monopoly. That's it. All difficulty changes is how hard the game cheats with dice rolls.
Also, I'm pretty sure the exploit where you can basically start the game with all the AI's money is intact. If you mortgage a property, and sell it to the AI for more than half value, try to sell it to the AI for a bit over retail value, it'll buy it and then unmortgage the property, at which point you can buy it back for a bit over retail, but still less than the amount you sold it for plus your mortgage gains. Rinse and repeat.

but it's honestly kinda annoying, Dan has no ability to strategize, he seems to actively make the worst decisions
in the case of this version of monopoly, arin and dan just pull each other down
I think what's annoying is that it strips some of the potential chaos away
there's no fall from grace for the grumps, they just immediately plummet and fail
Would it be more fun if they strategize the shidd out of it? It’s a comedy show before anything else. Besides, ai is on normal this time, time will have to tell i suppose.
@@SCP-49730 what strategy it's real fuggin simple to see when two cpus have dropped out of a bid you drop out as well not sit there trying to make the other person pay more money ,i don't care about the stale comedy it's a monopoly game that for the record has led to arin getting beaten by Dan and the CPU because in all honesty Dan has proven on more than one occasion he can manage money better than arin to the point that arin was a seething mess .

But my point still stands thier screwing themselves out of a win by any margin if the idea is to win like they normally try to . I play Monopoly with my family and I don't try to screw them out of potential property,like I said if arin sees Dan wants a certain property he'll go out of his way to make him pay double or triple the price but all it's done for arin is leave him with about $110 bucks tops . Would you care to add anything else sensible or are you done making an arse of yourself?

I know they wont read this but the interesting strategy of this mode is you can just skip all properties you land on and only bid on what you want, so its easy to choke someone out of a Monopoly unless they land on all spaces themselves and ALSO have the money to outbid others.
Yeah, I feel like there should be a version of Auction Only where it forces everything you land on to be auctioned, no skipping allowed
Arin at the beginning of the other episode: we bought too many properties and the ai ran away with it
Dan about halfway thru the first: let’s not screw each other over

And to think Dan made a deal with Arin to settle the orange and reds without grinding each other into bonemeal...
Arins tactics at the start of the last episode, was to hold back on buying, and bleed them dry of their money.
Here we are, episode 2, Arin and Dan are skinto flinto, while Fabricio is richer than everz. 🙃
I love when they bop along to the game music outloud, its so catchy. There was one episode a while ago where Arin gave it his all and it was fantastic.
I knew Fabricio would be a problem once again.

They're waiting for Dan and Arin to both go under $200 before they auction everything up at a fraction of its original value. Meanwhile Arin has a monopoly but is strapped for cash so can't put houses without mortgaging, but he may soon be forced to if the current trend continues.
What crosses my mind as a strategy to this game mode is to decide ahead of time which properties you want (maybe something in the latter 2nd or early 3rd part of the board), and go full out for those, and otherwise, only be invested in auctions if it is for someone's monopoly-making property; otherwise, auctions only exist to make you lose money.
Also, Arin and Dan should be spending more time negotiating with each other special deals like they did with the agreement to allow each other to complete their sets. Because without these agreements, their inclinations will be to ruin each others games, which will become reality.
The problem with "Hard" as we've seen in other episodes, is that it doesn't really change their behavior so much as it basically just gives them nothing but safe rolls. Computer players would go around the board landing on nothing but community chests/chance spaces, Free parking, or the props they already owned, completely missing the monopolies that Dan and Arin struggled to get.
Even this time, I'm noticing them landing on Chance a lot, rather than landing on the spaces that might cause them some actual damage.
Uh, guys? I think Fabricio's mic might be off, or there was some error in editing. Yinz brought him back for another round of Monopoly, but we can't hear their sultry, sensual tones.😥

They're caring too much about properties they may not even monopolise, and screwing themselves way more than they have to. I stand by that once the cpus drop out, they should just both say the max they'll pay and whoever has higher pays that, because otherwise they'll just end up going 1 to 1 with each other for minutes longer than they need every time, and the CPUs will win anyway

I wish they would play the redwood Monopoly. The AI is so much better on this one and there are many different personalities you can set.

I like to think the names of the AI are randomly picked from a list, but the game is sentient and purposefully picks Fabricio every time.

I for one totally endorse Arin and Dan's current strategy of making a plan and then immediately abandoning it to do exactly what they did last time. It's completely normal and cool
