I pay the annual fee for TIVO simply for the dvr and guide capability. With commercials taking up 27-29 minutes of every hour of broadcasts, $65/year to save all those "half hours" of my life on earth is well worth the cost.
Due to high cost, my Hulu was cancelled! I have no cable and no TV provider. Don’t watch the news or sports. Guess what, I don’t miss it. So far Prime and Netflix seem to be enough for me.
@AntennaMan hi.. 57 ota channels. DETROIT market. ABC, CBS. NBC. FOX. Clear as a bell. CAN NOT RECEIVE Cbc. Ch. 9 Windsor anymore. And just had MeTv's ToonTV added 2 weeks ago, ...finally. 2 Roku tv's.. 3 Vizio. So all their free content fills our boob tube needs.
TH-cam is my #1 go to streaming service so I can watch wonderful indie channels like yours. Otherwise I am perfectly happy with Tubi TV and Pluto TV for live streams. Someday I'll get an antenna again. Live TV is not a necessity except for timely news and weather.
TH-cam is my #1 go to as well. What's funny is I have yet to even connect an antenna to a spare TV in my kitchen since I am more than content with TH-cam content.
I use an Antenna and watch good old fashion TH-cam on demand. Rarely watch TV any more. The Cable Companies are buying up Streaming services and its driving prices up. ...Best thing people can do now is look for Cheaper Internet to save money.
With what you said about what you watch, same for me. I next to never watch tv anymore myself and am pretty much the same way. I either listen to music stored locally on my phone, watch stuff on youtube or amazon prime video, and, i write recipes up on my choice of a word processor software as of a little over a year. Heck, it's been since 2016 or 2017 since I've been to a movie theater and have since found it easier to just wait 5 to 7 or more months to get the dvd of it.
I only have OTA TV, 1 small set. Cancelled cable tv over 2 years ago, and today Comcast/Xfinity internet afterv2 years, which would have increased $20.00 a month. Yes mostly warch you tube for our interests. 😊
A price increase will mean a viewership drop for the streamers. I'll bail on the only one I have at some point. Hey I have a pair of stacked channel masters that get me as many as 95 local channels and a Tablo to record with. 👍
I have an antenna and i get full power stations in my area but none of the low power or VVHF stations. I subscribe to Sling Orange with an additional sports package but only during college football season. I'm a big Braves baseball fan but the value option on that is streaming radio or terrestrial radio to catch my Braves baseball.
I've been a OTA guy for years, although I am luckier than most as I live in the Metro NYC area. So I'm good for local and many of the secondary channels. Also my LG has it's own set of channels as well as access to Tubi, Pluto etc. so I have no need for a PD streaming service. They get enough of my $$$.
My wife likes ~8-10 live TV channels (many for just one show), several of which aren't available on Hulu, Fubo, TH-cam TV, or Philo. So, we'll live with the $5.99/mo increase on the base cost. But with Sling's Total TV package needed to get all of those channels, our monthly bill is now $66.99 plus sales tax. Better than the $195/mo we were paying for AT&T's U-Verse TV service when we cut the cord almost two years ago. I can't imagine the cost of U-Verse now for those who are still grandfathered into the service.
I enjoy the information from your videos. Thank you for all you do. Like many people I have also cut the cord. I pay for no services from satellite or streaming. OTA antenna or much of the free videos available on the internet.
Where i live and after the meeting ve to digital, we get no over the air TV. We did ok with analog. We are outside the 80 miles and the hills block it too.
If you get ABC and Fox, you're very close to getting CBS and NBC. Which market are you in and what antenna are you using? You might just need an antenna with more VHF gain.
"Free" OTA channels, could be going away. Part of ATSC 3.0 permits encrypting for DRM that will require an internet connection (subscription). The upcoming FCC chair has expressed concern in Project 2025 that business isn't extracting maximum profit from OTA's spectrum.
Greetings from New Zealand MR T --- you make a great video young man I love making antennas for ham band So you take care young man knowing the understanding of antennas like you have
I have Sling tv only for the golf channel . It's the cheapest price i have found. I pay about $54. a month. Does anyone have a cheaper way to get it and be able to record it?
I'm already getting screwed by my cable provider, why would I want to get screwed by these other services as well. $6?? That's like a 13% increase. The heck with that.
What pisses me off is that the algorithms recommend things to me. I HATE when this happens. I remember the days when I had Spectrum cable then Dish then Spectrum after that and I had to choose what I wanted to watch deliberately. Physical media demands that I go and choose what I want to watch. Antenna mandates that I choose what I want to watch. I HATE it when YT tries to guess what I want to watch and it shoves content at me based on my viewing habits. NOPE. Just another way to gather data from me. I barely watch TV any more.
The constant debasement of the US dollar is the driving factor in nominally rising prices, at least over time. The Cantillon Effect makes it impossible to know exactly how much is due to what. Of course you are free not to pay for Netflix, Disney, etc. if you think they're crap. I think they're crap.
I cut the cord on EVERYTHING....watch free content online...no more direct TV, no Dish TV....😂....
That's the way to do it!
I did also
Same here. I'm not paying for shows anymore.
Same
We did this in 2010.
This makes me glad I still buy Physical Media. Streaming is getting expensive.
Physical media is very underrated. Most people don't realize that the media companies can yank the content we watch at any point.
@@AntennaMan agreed
Im sticking with it for now. I use it as part of my antenna set up.
I don't pay for anything. If it's not FREE I don't watch it. As a matter of fact I have AD blockers that work for most streaming services.
Same here! If commercials are shown, that's what pays for the programming, not me!

You don't even have an antenna?!
Glad I no longer use a live service. I'm a non sports fan so I stopped because to many shows got cancelled or final season
We cut the cord 2 years ago. $ 220 a month savings since. WE Pay NOTHING for any TV content.
THANKS ANTENNA MAN,
Cheers from Detroit 🇺🇲
You're a true cord cutter if you pay nothing for TV content!

I am starting to watch more and more OTA antenna in 2024 ,streaming is getting greedy and that’s what killed cable and satellite totally 🎉
Considering most areas pick up between 40-60 channels with an antenna, there's plenty of free content.
@@AntennaMan 27 or 28 and a couple of those are unwatcable IMO.
I feel bad for anyone who doesn't have access to over the air signal via antenna
Even Local TV is shutting down rural translators. Local channels want the retransmission fees from providers.
Nexstar shut down the rural translators in my area. Most TV stations prefer people pay for their channels on cable, satellite, or streaming providers.
We aTV for news and weather, but I love YT for providing content that I can choose on demand.
I use an Antenna and watch good old fashion TH-cam on demand. Rarely watch TV any more. The Cable Companies are buying up Streaming services and its driving prices up. ...Best thing people can do now is look for Cheaper Internet to save money.

I just watch the local channels.

All the TV stuff is total woke garbage now a days.
I have TH-cam TV only for my wife and daughter. I enjoy sports but I’d be fine with what I get off my antenna.
TH-cam TV is great for sharing with family!

What antenna are you using? Most smaller antennas only have one itty bitty VHF dipole which translates to very little gain.

In short, do not hire streaming services because they then increase the price too much. Nor hire internet for the same reasons.
That prediction of higher costs was a bit of a captain obvious moment.Lol
Thanks Dude.
My man Tyler. Please do your side to side head bob and Bla Bla Bla on every video as your signature. It was glorious. 😅

I watch more of TH-cam and use antenna to pick up the local stations, but sadly I don't receive CBS and NBC.

@AntennaMan , I live in Williamsport,PA and the antenna I'm using is a ClearStream Max-V.
@@AntennaMan I do get ABC and FOX here in Williamsport, PA and I'm using a ClearStream Max-V antenna indoors because of my landlord.
I'm a youtube viewer and watch local minor league sports. Screw them big corporations with major sports leagues. They raise prices twice a year.

Theres no monthly bill for over the air antenna, yet.
Correct. I'm fighting to keep it that way.
We need a competitor to sling, philo has basically nothing
Not worth it. I only have max and frndly tv because I live in a TV market with hardly any diginets.

Nice new haircut. 😅
Just a heads up, freevee will be shutting down soon.
I briefly skimmed an article about that. The channels are just moving to the Amazon Prime app, correct?
Yes they are.
