I agree with you that GS makes the best dials in the world. It’s one of the reasons I now own three of them. They put out these watches you just cannot get anywhere else.
You're right about this watch. It was the only one of the Four Seasons available, and it was stunningly lovely. It's just that I can afford only one, and I have my heart set on Winter or Spring.
@@MrDealeronrocks lol... Yeah. All the watches on my list are still less than one patek. Zenith is around 5 k, Rolex is 7k, Omega can be found for 4k and GS varies but I'd like a spring drive, so all in all about $25k. I know it's still a lot, but far less than a patek or AP etc
What a beautiful watch! I'm saving up right now to buy a GS, will be my grail piece. I was thinking of maybe an Omega or Rolex (i"ll be saving for awhile!) but I recently got the book 'A Man and His Watch' and on one page is a ridiculous gold Popeye Rolex, but then you turn the page and there's this gorgeous GS model. Flipping the page back and forth and even imagining that Rolex without Popeye, you just can't help but realize the Rolie is just clunky looking and that GS is sooooooo smooth. Made me think of the difference between a monster truck and an electric car. Not saying the GS will have resale anywhere near the Rolex but as they say, past results are no guarantee of future returns.
Just received mine yesterday. It's fantastic. My Globemaster has been the perfect daily wear....this may completely replace it (or at least take up the majority of the time)
I gotta be very honest here. Saw the fall , winter and snowflake to compare them. The fall has the same dial pattern as summer. Although very detailed it didnt evoke the magic. The detail felt rather random. The winter in comparison has a dial that feels like a microscopic frosty snowy field. a perfect representation of what it meant to be. I pulled the trigger on the winter that day. gonna pick it up this week =)
I have a white dial OP 39 and to me it's an absolutely perfect watch. But I've always wanted a GS and I think a watch like the SBGH273 would be a great companion for it. A similar OP feel.
Rolex charges a brand recognition and marketing premium. If pursuing status, Rolex will have a much stronger appeal. If the focus is on superior quality, design, craftsmanship, and longevity, GS rivals any other brand. They actually surpass their competitors when it comes to craftsmanship - you won't find anyone better. That is their singular focus as a company. They do not pay Brand Ambassadors million$ of dollars, or conduct ma$$ive marketing strategies just to pass those costs onto the customer. Their singular focus is making elegant timepieces.
@@ams914 I love the elegant simplicity of the OP as well but can't bring myself to pay that much for a mass produced 3 hander.. these GSs add another dimension of craftsmanship that tipped me over the edge to buy one
@@alexbarcovsky4319 where did you come up with that. Any good mechanical watch will last a lifetime and sorry but Rolex is not anymore accurate then this watch.
I have the very same watch. For a while, I have been intrigued by the similarly beautiful "White Birch" with the Hi Beat 9SA5-calibre, but instead I opted for this one. A gut feeling. What is so much better with this than the Birch- or the Lake Suwa models is the simplicity and clarity, in my view hallmarks of Japanese design. Don't get me wrong, the aforementioned watches are truly beautiful. It is just, they are a bit too much. The indices to wide and shiny, the hands too broad, the dials too structured. As much as I love the Shoji-paper-structure on this one, it is so fine and subtle, you need a loupe or a good macro to see it. But the play and effect in broad sunlight are just gorgeous. Enough waxing poetic, it is a nearly perfectly executed timepiece with a lot of charme, flying perfectly under the radar, fully versatile for every situation and stunningly precise.
Gorgeous watch but is legibility ever an issue? GS are known for legibility but there are times in terms video that the hands seem to get lost in dial. Thanks in advance.
Great video also had a great experience with Exquisite Time Pieces. Picked up my SNA049J1 from them. They took the time to send photos of the watch, show me what it looked like on the wrist, and work with me over email and on the phone
I am going to try the watch in a few days. Very nice review. I have the impression that the light you are using is very flattering and that in IRL metal will more shiny and boring. I hope I am wrong.
This watch is a work of pure art ! Love the dial my only dislike slightly is the polish on link face I would have preferred brushed with side link polish .
That dial is amazing. I have a Springdrive and want a high beat. I have seen the watch before, but never so close. I was going to buy a Sub, but now I am screwed. I will be miserable whatever I do.
i dont mean to be so offtopic but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
”You really have to use a loupe to appreciate the GS dials.” Riiight. Who ever does that? Super high quality no question, but nothing much to do with real life. At least for a person who is a watch user, not a collector.
This one in particular, this blue one, would be my favorite watch, and I own several rolexes. It is just beautiful. Oops, 10 thousand dollars? I withdraw my statement.
I was also thinking the same but yet I am not able to find issue in the real world. Little gap prevents scratching of the bracelet ( gap is not that big when you wear the watch) and with this clasp size it is easier to avoid scratches unlike bulky one of the Rolex.
I came SO close to buying that watch! In the end the dial was a bit underwhelming to me. It looks amazing in strong light, but very dark--dare I say dull--in most other light. I purchased the SBGJ235 instead. It is utterly stunning in all light, and is the perfect watch for me. The SBGH273 is, however, a tremendous watch overall and I certainly can't fault anyone for loving it.
Was at the GS boutique yesterday and thought the same thing. Dial was underwhelming. In light, looks amazing. They didn’t have the sbgj 235. I’m curious to see it in person
@@arthuralba4807 check out the SBGJ201, which the boutique should have. Identical watch, but with a white dial and blue GMT hand. It's gorgeous in its own right. I think the 235 visually wears a tad smaller with its sapphire blue dial. To which boutique did you go?
Agree Seiko has some cool dials in their collection. I don't have a GS, but a few from the normal Seiko Presage cocktail line, also very beautifully to look at IMO.
Beautiful yes but they need to put some “focus” in those bracelets badly . And the polished center bits bring a cheap appearance to me . Love to see one all brushed .
I have two of their entry level GSs the SBGN009 and the SBGA283 and both have all brushed bracelets. The higher you get the more is polished....on the bracelet.
Just brush them yourself. I've done it to many bracelets. It's very easy. I usually use steel wool or scotchbrite then finish it off with a 5000 grit automotive polishing spongy type sandpaper. Looks great. I've done omega, seiko, and touch ups on a rolex bracelet. Practice for a bit then dive in.

Congrats on your pronunciation of "Glashütte". Yet, it's not a brand but a town in south-eastern Germany where many luxury brands are located. The most famous ones being A.Lange and Söhne and Nomos. The confusion might stem from the fact that some brands make the town a part of their name, such as "Glashütte Original", "Union Glasütte" and "Mühle Glashütte".
I would venture a guess to say Glashütte Original is more famous than Nomos in the watch community having existed through the Cold War and having a lot more history behind it. Nomos just has a lower entry price point and is more accessible to the masses.
Beautiful Seiko but I am not a fan of exotic fabrics dial like the linen dial. I like mother of pearl dial and mineral dials like onyx, lapis lazuli, jasper.
Enough of the Rolex haters. First off....most people who say they hate Rolex they either can't afford or they've never had one. GS makes some of the most amazing time pieces today. For me, the Fall edition is the best in the four-season collection. The golden hand, blue dial, and steel case make the watch so elegant

The blue and the gold. As a Boca Juniors fan, I love the colors!
Lovely watch and agree about the gold looking beautiful against the blue. This is a gorgeous watch.
