You never heard the Monty Python sketch rock notes? Dead Monkeys are to split up again, according to their manager, Lefty Goldblatt. They've been in the business now ten years, nine as other groups. Originally the Dead Salmon, they became for a while, Trout, then Fried Trout, then Poached Trout In A White Wine Sauce, and finally, Herring. Splitting up for nearly a month, the re-formed as Red Herring, which became Dead Herring for a while, and then Dead Loss, which reflected the current state of the group. Splitting up again to get their heads together, they reformed a fortnight later as Heads Together, a tight little name which lasted them through a difficult period when their drummer was suspected of suffering from death. It turned out to be only a rumour and they became Dead Together, then Dead Gear, which lead to Dead Donkeys, Lead Donkeys, and the inevitable split up. After nearly ten days, they reformed again as Sole Meuniere, then Dead Sole, Rock Cod, Turbot, Haddock, White Baith, the Plaices, Fish, Bream, Mackerel, Salmon, Poached Salmon, Poached Salmon In A White Wine Sauce, Salmon Meuniere, and Helen Shapiro. This last name, their favorite, had to be dropped following an injunction.

Wow, I've never seen this video before. I notice that it was recorded before Feb 9, 1964, when the Beatles made their first USA performance on the Ed Sullivan show. I've never heard of Helen Shapiro, but I was only 9 years old in 1963, but I can see that she had talent.
Linda e emocionante. Que voz. Nunca tinha visto falar e depois de 60 anos fiquei admirado de ver esse clip. Hoje as mulheres que cantam não chegam aos pés dela na qualidades que maravilha maravilhas
Outstanding voice - she should have had a much longer career than she ended up with. I was fortunate to pick up a '' best of Helen'' CD some years ago.
I think that round about that time, she was touring with the Beatles and she was the headline act. But because of the fan reaction, the Beatles took over the headline spot. It's ironic she got on well with the Beatles but, in a way, the popularity they gained, along with other bands, meant it was virtually the end of her career.
...and yet another page of the vast Beatles archive is revealed to me. How many more stories about the Fab Four are still out there waiting to be discovered? Will we ever hear them all?
I had never heard of Helen Shapiro until one of the Beatles mentioned her in a book....she had a great voice, love her serenading John, Ringo & George (he was adorable here)...too bad Paul wasn't here..lol
This is even better than Walking back to happiness! And I love the way she orders Ringo to turn around, and looks a little surprised by him putting his head on her shoulder! What a wonderful voice, and great timing too!

I heard her voice first time, and I admired very much. This song an excellent composition.
What a catchy fun song gosh I miss the good old days and she didn't have to swear one time and what a voice wow
Yep. She also didn't have to wear no-seeum costumes, and have ridiculous sets and auto-correct to show her talent - a talent which was much bigger than her ego.
This video is super addictive. Love that little head-bob she does going into the bridge.
Jamás me cansaré de ver este vídeo, me encanta¡¡
Helen was so pro at stage moves.
What a wonderful her voice is !
Golden moments - only hearing about this lady today
What a wonderful video, glad I came across it. ❤❤❤
I'm a musician, and I'm gobbsmacked that I'd never heard of her before ! Such poise and confidence in her instrument and self on top of that mind blowing voice! It's not often that I become an instant fan of an artist because of a performance that occurred the year after I was born. Helen, you rock baby!
Thanks for your nice comment. Check out Helen's body of work, she's great.
I remember her quite clearly, she was always on the radio.
What a wonderful voice !
It's her voice that inspired many of us non-English locals to study the English Language better. Her diction with the lyrics is aspiring crystal clear.
Wow, I've never seen this video before. I notice that it was recorded before Feb 9, 1964, when the Beatles made their first USA performance on the Ed Sullivan show. I've never heard of Helen Shapiro, but I was only 9 years old in 1963, but I can see that she had talent.
Wow, that is cool on so many levels. What a great talent Helen is. And those rascally Beatles.
Linda e emocionante. Que voz. Nunca tinha visto falar e depois de 60 anos fiquei admirado de ver esse clip. Hoje as mulheres que cantam não chegam aos pés dela na qualidades que maravilha maravilhas
Outstanding voice - she should have had a much longer career than she ended up with. I was fortunate to pick up a '' best of Helen'' CD some years ago.
she has aged beautifully
@@michaellee9262 Yep, Helen is still a beauty to this very day! And still, with that incredible voice.
She had zero success in the States
I think that round about that time, she was touring with the Beatles and she was the headline act. But because of the fan reaction, the Beatles took over the headline spot. It's ironic she got on well with the Beatles but, in a way, the popularity they gained, along with other bands, meant it was virtually the end of her career.
Hahahaha, John making faces😂
What a unique voice ♡ I love it
She was great. Still is.
...and yet another page of the vast Beatles archive is revealed to me. How many more stories about the Fab Four are still out there waiting to be discovered? Will we ever hear them all?
Helen Shapiro, The Class. Take me back to the 60s. Awesome song X Factor. Thank you Helen for the entertainment.
I had never heard of Helen Shapiro until one of the Beatles mentioned her in a book....she had a great voice, love her serenading John, Ringo & George (he was adorable here)...too bad Paul wasn't here..lol
I'm totally impressed. This lady has a strong beautiful voice and a wonderful smile.
Amazing voice, great talent
I never heard of Helen before this.
Really Good.
Great Helen! Love her. Greetings from Brazil.
This is even better than Walking back to happiness! And I love the way she orders Ringo to turn around, and looks a little surprised by him putting his head on her shoulder! What a wonderful voice, and great timing too!
Boy, I love her voice!! Only 16 years old here. Pretty and talented!!
Of course, there was a time when the Fab Four were on their way up. and this was during that time.
I'm glad that this moment has been documented, and I'm especially glad to see how unaffectedly funny and spontaneous they could be.
Never saw this before and Helen's looks, and voice, sounds like she's at least 25, to me !!! ----------- i was 10 when this came out and i've always enjoyed anything the Beatles did -------- especially in their early years!
I would have been 10 as well. Fine talent, Helen Shapiro. And what a voice and mature performance for her age.
I loved this! Really blew me away!!
