I personally like the messenger bag more than the tote. I’m not a tote person. I got the one from the SS20 collection!
Best decision you ever made. It doesn’t seem very practical. It’s def a more lux type of bag than a utilitarian type of bag.
I have it I love it. No regrets Never have I ever carried a book in it. It is a tote bag and a purse. If I am going to carry the kitchen sink I go for Longchamp

Yes! The honesty is so good and so rare. I’ve definitely seen TH-camrs buy things that don’t suit their lifestyle, that they have hated in other brands, that they never use or have bought and sold before. Which of course, it’s their money they can do what they like but I often think, it’s just because of that Chanel logo! Or you think the Dior SA is your friend! Or brand loyalty. 💕

It surely not a school bag. I went back to uni for my law degree at age of 40 and you only wear jeans and a fabric bag with books you can put on your shoulder. Keep it low key in university life. On the other hand, Dior book tote is nice. I wouldnt mind buy it for using like meet friend or going out for a coffee myself under the sun in the winter with a book to read and a sweater/ jumper or a scarf inside for cold when sun goes down. I pictured.that would be a perfect fit for a middle age woman...

I totally understand wanting to be “hands free.” Although I have a few top handle bags I rarely reach for them. I always grab a shoulder bag or crossbody bag. Holding a purse by the handle just feels so unnatural and inconvenient.

I love my small Dior book tote it is great for traveling. I go in and out of my bags while in the airport or on the plane (also have a bad habit of not closing my bags) a thousand times so this is perfect for me. I do agree that it can get a little heavy as all of my other totes do as well but beauty, spacious, and something that can sit right on top of my carry on is the name of my travel game lol
Love the bag but totally agree! Everyone I’ve seen with this bag seem like they are struggling with the weight...maybe if they had two straps like the onthego it would be more functional?
Merci. For the video. Dior is pricey. So I opt for a sandro paris book tote. Didn't add too much heavy. I can hold it for 15 minutes. Why not give the sandro paris book tote a try. But just add light products. My shoulders felt at ease. Quality happy. The price is good.
Those are exactly all the thoughts I had when seeing people's unboxings of this bag! No shoulder strap, no zip, but huge bag. It didn't make sense! Love that you shared when you realized you idealized a bag!

Starting out with designer fashion, it gives me a chance to rethink my bag choices, and I’ve decided to give the tote craze a miss. I want to downsize what I carry (and how much it all weighs)?and a tote isn’t going to aid that, then adding in the fact that so many designer totes don’t have zips is a major turn off.
It’s such a pretty bag and the oblique is amazing, but I think it’s a lot of money for what she is 💕🤍 do tell more about yourself, and what was the course!? 🤪😅

I am glad you let her go... I loved it and wanted it so bad but sat on it and glad I did... Handles don’t fold in, it’s fabric, nothing inside, too stiff, handles too short.. LV on the go ticked all the boxes and has better pricing too so went with her instead and no regrets!!!! Mail her off and you are better off!! ❤️
'Weight' and 'Annoying of losing one arm for a bag' are always my issue so I feel for you. Also I kicked all my Lady Dior (which are most suitable to be 'top handle bag') off my closet. Therefore I really love your cover photo of this vdo especially when I think about a beautiful bag I own that doesnt match my style.

I love this bag too Caitlin but you made the RIGHT decision. This bag looks great styled but it is NOT practical! Carrying books, travel...for those endeavors you need a workhorse...sturdy leather, not canvas...AND it’s so flippin’ expensive! You did the right thing!! 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Yes same here, after buying a few bags I realised most of them have a top handle and crossbody strap. That's my preferred style. I am contemplating selling my Neverfull but can't commit

Agree with your points. I was tempted with the LV version only because it has a strap as I understand carrying all that load just by the top handles is impractical. But eventually I’ve changed my mind about the LV as well because the straps are too thin. Won’t want to get stuck in a 2 hours immigration queue with those straps digging into my shoulders. A sensible, sturdy, light material computer / carry on bag is the only way to go for travel. Caitlin, good luck with your new bag! I look forward to another unboxing. ❤️
You are the second You Tuber I’ve seen who has really excitedly unboxed this bag and then sold it within a few months. That says a lot - it is a lovely bag and it looks like it would be very practical but in reality I really think it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! 🤔 I love the look of it but know it wouldn’t suit my lifestyle and it’s a lot of money for something to just sit there and look pretty! You have definitely done the right thing - I think if I had got it I probably would have been too stubborn to sell it and admit my mistake lol! Learn and move on now lol - plenty more gorgeous Dior bags out there that suit your lifestyle ❤️❤️❤️
You did the right thing! I'm not a tote person anyway, but when I do buy totes, it has to have a zipper opening coz I'm clumsy and stuff will fall off if there isnt a zipper. For daily wear, 95% of my bags have a crossbody strap option lol

Fashion has never been made for real real practical purposes. In this case.... it is called a Book Tote because the designer, MGC, literally took that as an inspiration only. Not necessarily a bag for you to carry books. But you can use it to do so...y not? Haha... Honestly, bags in general... you will definitely get those indentations or marking from the handles on your arms if you happen to overload your bag. Nonetheless.... i love your honest review and videos 😁

I definitely understand, so I won’t make u feel bad! At least u tried it and now u know!! I use my old big tory burch nylon bag as my school bag... I feel uncomfortable wearing my designer stuff to school... And that’s only because I like to be invisible when I’m there.
I find that it takes a while before you can tell if a purse is going to suit you, no matter how careful you are before purchasing. And your lifestyle changes as time goes by. A purse that works in your twenties may not work for your thirties, or once you have a child, or if you commute to a job via public transport etc. good for you for realizing that this purse didn’t suit your needs and you had the courage to sell it.
I love the small book tote, it is great as a Sunday Bible bag. Perfect for the Sunday best clothes as well. Plus uni kids are poor, why would anyone bring a Dior book tote to uni?

Hi! I have the small book tote in the kaleidiorscopic print and at first i really loved it because finally i dont have to downsize my stuff and i can carry whatever i want. And everytime i carried the bag, i was given so many compliments on it. But i realized that in order for it to work for me, i need either a bag organizer or several pouches to organize my stuff (coz of my oc tendencies and soooo many pickpockets in the Philippines hahaha) and so, it tended to get heavier. And i got the same marks like yours. I guess my love for dior also affected my brain specially that the kaleidiorscopic print was well at the height of the book tote's popularity. But i guess im a sucker for the beautiful print that i have decided to keep it for the time being I am super tempted to get the lady dior d-lite in dove grey though.

Haha good point! Who would wanna get armpit sweat on their baggs ew. Today I walked into H&M and saw a dupe for the dior tote, they have both medium and small versions, black and white print, super cute, prolly not as sturdy as the real deal, but I thought to myself '' well this is probably the closest I'll ever get to owning a book tote'' so I went for it. Heck I even got a bucket hat in the same print! Looking forward to sunny weather so I can enjoy them.
There have been a couple of things putting me off this bag:
-the fact it isnt a crossbody
-not knowing the practicality of the size (would a small be too small? Or would the large be too large?)
-zipper issue
I found one for a good price second hand (supposedly large) and just paid for it, however am nervous to receive it because I'm stressed I'll regret the size 😂 I guess I can always re-sell if it isnt for me. I finished uni last year: used a backpack for the first 2 years, but my final year I used a crossbody handbag/laptop bag as my course didn't require textbooks for 3rd year and I prefered taking notes via good old pen and paper so only ever took my laptop if I NEEDED it (presentations/completing assignments). In Singapore you’ll get death sentence straight away if you have any amount of drugs on you. So I am always paranoid that maybe in order to save their skin someone might have slipped something inside my bag. With this kind of open tote I will be even more scared and have panic attacks every few minutes 😶😶😶

I was a “mature, non-traditional” student and that stuff is heavy as shit! You have to carry a backpack. Even with that it is a wonder these kids don’t tip over 😳. Love it!

I did consider the most recent dior floral book tote- they have pretty look organizers that zip at the top that would solve stuff falling out issues. But I think its too ridged, boxy, and stiff for me, but I did love the most recent floral pattern.
Ok my feeling about the book tote was accurate - I kind of decided to get the small because the larger one if I filled it Up with files and books for work the large one for sure will kill my arm . I am kind of interested in the small one as a handbag with water bottle and maybe small book for my lunch break or a tablet.
I’m also a crossbody girl ! I feel like it’s more secured to the body vs a tote that can easily be snatched from you. Lmao call me paranoid 🤷♀️ but mainly because it’s hands free! Although I found the perfect “big bag” the LV- NeoNoe MM! I loved that fact that’s the versatile strap could either be shoulder or crossbody ! 😊

It is quite a confusing thing - a book tote that isn't meant for books haha! I do agree that not being able to wear on your shoulder easily and not having a top closure makes this bag less likable. However, I have found an organizer that comes with a zip that solves that part of the issue. Another tote will come around - don't worry!

Oh my god this has been a while but I'm so glad I ran into your videos, not because I'm deciding on buying a Dior book tote but because I feel SO UNDERSTOOD for the LV Onthego bag that I got (it's also a limited edition in khaki green). These two bags are so similar in terms of structure and their god damn weight lmao.
I was SO in love with the Onthego bag and told myself that I'll use to hold my laptop, boy was that delusional, it's so fucking heavy, and also very unsuitable if it's a more formal/serious environment. Also it's so inconvenient to be used as a flight bag or holiday bag, for the exact same reasons you mentioned. And thanks to that bag I realized that I'm just 100% a crossbody-bag person. I now see "hook on my arm" (which sounds kinky but it's not lol) as a mild type of physical abuse lol. I eventually just sold that bag and it broke my heart cause I did really like the look of it. So I completely understand how you feel when you say "don't tell me I shouldn't let it go." I literally cried when my mom questioned why I sold the bag (cause she had no idea of how heavy and impractical it is), even though in my mind I know very clear that I'm not gonna get any use of it. I realized that these are just the type of bag that if you keep it, just looking at it makes you question your decision and if you get rid of it, letting it go also makes you kinda sad T_T

It is a fabric bag sold as a luxury leather one! It costs peanuts to produce ! Do not regret to resell it .
I want the regular size one so bad in red and black checker pattern. Saw it in Rome in October 2019 didn’t buy it. Regret it now. Hopefully at one point I can find it.
