Oil pressure is the lifeblood of any engine. The last thing you want to do is run your vehicle while oil pressure is low. Even if the oil is at the appropriate level, low pressure situations can still occur! This video shows you how to install a new oil pressure sensor on your Chevy C/K1500 1988-2000.

Great instructional video. Direct, to the point, no unnecessary bs. Good job.
Couple of notes here:
1. It's not necessary to remove the plug wires. This can be a pain to get to, but at most you might take the coil wire loose (plugged into the center of the distributor cap) then remove the cap with all wires still connected to move it out of the way.
2. The air filter lid didn't "come" that way, it just may have come into this shop that way. It was designed to fully enclose the air filter so that it sucks air from the fender, like an early cold air intake. It doesn't actually matter much in practicality, and the "lid flip" is a classic "mod" everyone did to these setups. The air box has a choke plate in it that's held closed by wax, and when the engine heats up the wax melts and allows the flap to open This was intended to provide smoother running on a cold start. The easy way to bypass this and get maximum airflow into the engine at all times was to just flip the lid. It won't hurt anything either way, I just thought the presentation of the information as "they come both ways" was kind of funny.
+@majoraslayer64 Thanks for the feedback! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Awesome video well explained and detail.... thank you.
Thanks! Worked for my 1995 Sierra
Great info and helpful i have 2 questions. Is there a diagram for the distributor mine is position different and if i replace the op switch and have the same issue what would my next step be. Thank you for any help
Nice and to the point....thanks...
not forget to reprogram the radio presets
Great video, thank you very much
Great video! Is it normal for the brass where the sensor screws to mo spin if moved? When I put the pliers to remove my sensor the brass tube spins?
Not sure what type of camera tricks their doing but im doing this job right now and there is no damn way to get a pair of pliers on this switch
Exelent video thanks you
Grandioso video gracias
Good vídeo. Question. What happen if the pressure is too high ir todo low..??
Good video
I just did a oil change, but do I still have to do another one after installing a new oil pressure sensor /switch?
Thank you
How do you get off the adapter if it breaks? Curious because I went to replace my oil pressure sensor and as soon as I tried to take it off the adapter broke with no force. Any info would be highly appreciated
Is it a bad thing to overtighten the oil pressure sensor? When I was going to take it off, I noticed that I didn't need the pliers it was loose I just used my hand to take it out. But when I reinstalled it I think I tightened it a little too much. Is it bad to overtighten it?
Is it the same for 4.3 88 s10 I can’t find anything on it where
I like how the air filter top was upside down more air flow 😂
Is the same procedure to replace the oil sensor on a 1990 silverado 454 ss?
I have a Chevy sport 1990 ,worked for mine
Great video ✝️
So what does replacing this due to the truck ? Better performance? My reads high all the time!
If it reads all the way up it isn't plugged in. No ground is full pressure and full ground is no pressure. So it has to be plugged in to say low pressure. Fail safe basically. Low pressure on dash always means low pressure. High pressure in dash could be bad connections.
Hi great videos
Can u please tell me. The size on the sensor... Im having trouble finding the right brass adapter... Cause the original broke off with corrosion... Thank you
Contact your local GM dealer
You find one it happened to me too
@@short.kingluci yes go to lowes they have the adaptors there in plumbing aisle..all u need u there
Would replacing this help start my truck? My truck has a new fuel pump, wiring is good, new battery, distributor cap/rotor, replaced throttle body. Truck won't start, no gas flow.
can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the key?
also check the fuel filter
there’s a lot of things that it could be with the tbi. try the map sensor or the engine coolant temperature sensor
I had a lot of replacements done to get mine to start ended up being the distributor. Works like a dream now.
Good!
Can this be my issue if I don’t have any fuel pump noise
How do I get the screen out. I have picks and it won't come out
So taking off the distributer cap u don't mess up the timing
Hello can you please answer my question thank you
Why do you disconnect the battery
So where is the location of it can ya show it ?
He showed it, drivers side valve cover rear
Does the screen need to be check or maybe replace.
+@jasperdavis-nb2gm It is not necessary to replace the screen, but we do encourage to check it to make sure it is in good condition.
whats the brasss called
I did this but my oil pressure gauge still marks low and has enough oil does anybody know what it could be
+Bryan Flores We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here. We suggest having a mechanic take a look over the vehicle to determine why you are having this issue.
So my gauge stays middle all the the time doesn't move with rev... Figure i need to replace this eh
Not a 1997 Chevrolet C1500 Suburban w 5.7liter vortec engine.
Haaay tuuuuu
When the cover is upside down the engine gets hot air and colder air is always better
That was too ez. I have a 1998 CHEVY CHEYENNE. It needs this.
Does everybody flip their air cover over on them five sevens or is it just me😂
You showed a video in the past on where you didn’t remove anything! Come on now..
your air cleaner cover is upside down
Doesn't look like a 1998 Vortec 454 to me another wasted 2 minutes
98 chevy 350 5.7
it’s not a 454, it’s a 350😂
Yeah you wasted your own time. Never said it was a 454
@@dawsonblanchard5832 not a 98. This 350 has a TBI. 98 have SCFI
You don’t need to do all that
What didn’t he need to do he’s doing it professionally not some jack wagon in daddy’s garage
Great information. Thank you for your service!
