PS: your narrative style and your ability to engage with the exhibitors makes it a far more immersive experience for us viewers. Another Quality job, Ms Q.
@modelrailwayquest I went to Doncaster last week. Hopefully, we'll get to York and Bakewell and then possibly Wirksworth later on in the year, oh, and possibly the 009 at a college near Mansfield. If Barrow Hill Roundhouse hold the garden railway exhibition again, we'll do that one. As for where and if we get to any others who knows....cheers James 🙂👍
Just stumbled on your channel. Nicely presented video highlighting some very good modelling skills. I particularly like the attention you bring to many cameo scenes which are often overlooked. Now to subscribe and check out your other videos. Thank you Dawn.
And now for something different... Mr G's monologue!! Dawn great vlog yet again funny, informative, well filmed and narrated. Definitely setting a gold standard. Great layouts on show and reflects the hardwork the organisers put into it. Well done them. By the way is Mr G mellowing a tad!!!!
Hi Dawn nice train show I can’t wait till they open up here in the spring just about 4 more weeks to go we still have almost the foot of snow on the ground yet I am cross the pound in Pennsylvania
I lived in Tonbridge between 1954 & 1965, still have very fond memories especially the Castle and going to Sunday church in Tunbridge Wells, now live on the Blue Mountains in Australia. Went to Tonbridge County Secondary School for boys, cubs, sea scouts and rangers in Tonbridge, great days
It is a very quirky town! Where was the secondary school? The Blue Mountains is a gorgeous part of Australia - had a lovely holiday there back in the late 90s!
I gotta tell you…I just happened to come across your channel..and you guys make me laugh!…that’s why I subscribed..and I like model trains…great video…
Thanks for another entertaining video! I used to live in Tonbridge, but it must be 30 years since I visited the exhibition - it was good back in those days, but seems to have grown even better.
Ive been waiting for your vid to appear Dawn and once again i wasn't disappointed. Very entertaining with good layout coverage as usual. I must say although its painful to admit, grumpy cameraman is actually becoming quite humorous 😂
What a nice presentation. The camera work and editing is great and your presentation is lovely. It is so nice to see some of the little cameos. Gives me some great ideas for my bears, elephant and deer. Some of these modellers are so professional.
Went to the Tonbridge show in the afternoon and saw you when I entered. No queue at that time. Must admit I never go in the morning as it is far too busy. Enjoyed the video. Good exhibition as usual and managed to pick up some tools and a kit. Like the humour in your vid. On the music front I am a progressive rock fan so it has to be Big Big Train ;)
Hi Dawn, I have only just discovered your channel. I find your channel very enjoyable, informative and entertaining. If I remember correctly at one point you mentioned a railway show in Sevenoaks. As I live in Tunbridge Wells I would be very interested in attending. Kind regards
Hi there - we're neighbours! I'm in Tonbridge. My Sevenoaks model railway show is on Sunday 28th July at the Sevenoaks Primary School. You can find more details on my website here: www.modelrailwayquest.com/sevenoaks-model-railway-show
Terrific stuff Dawn. You are a breath of fresh for our lovely hobby, with your clear and concise presentation, enunciation and delivery. Less from the bloke in the background though. Keep em coming regards Paul
At the Timonium, Md. show they had a guy with tickets in hand walking the entrance line selling them, cash, exact change only. Sped things up very nicely.
Cracking video all smiles, charm and white wellies too. Just a quick update as it seems Warley Model Railway society are teaming up with Statfold Barn stem railway to hold a new model railway event. RE:The Warley Model Railway Club has teamed up with the Statfold Narrow Gauge Museum Trust Ltd to hold a brand new railway modelling showcase event at the Trust’s Statfold Country Park venue near Tamworth, Staffordshire. Branded as Warley at Statfold the event is planned for the weekend of the 12 & 13 October 2024 and entry tickets will include an exciting new-look model railway exhibition, full access to the Museum’s locomotive and stock collection, unlimited train rides on both the 2' and 12½" gauge. Take care, and of GCMan too.
Just watched this video. I have another amazing fact about the Barron Knights. My mother worked in a record shop in Dunstable. The Barron Knights walked in regularly to buy their music. In that same record shop, Jethro Tull also walked in from time to time…
I love that Tonbridge gets its due. How did you get David Mitchell to voice the opening?! But seriously I SO should have gone spotting at Tonbridge station. I had no idea as a kid in Dorking that it was such a brilliant station. AND a Wimpy. The queuing does seem to be partly down to the rather bewildered looking older folk running the door. They are the without doubt, the (unpaid) backbone of events like this in market towns across the UK, but also..
OMG just found your channel and so refreshing and different from the standard video of shows,. Do you ever cone north and film exhibitions as your films are so well made, informative and funny,. Just binged watched a load of them. Is Grumpy camerman turning into a sort of The Stig charecter who no one knows who he is but could in real life be a well known person in the industry. Is he Simon Kohler?
Sorry, I need to interrupt my viewing for an extremely tedious technical comment! The pan across Norge looks very very choppy, (about 6:40), it almost looks like the video fields might be in the wrong order? The layout looks wonderful though... I'll get back to watching.
Thanks - it's a slo-mo and am limited by the software I use. I'm playing around with different editing software at the moment as I'm looking to upgrade.
I think my brother still has a few of The Barron Knights singles in his vinyl collection... and they were from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, will the grumpy camera man get anything right!? Another great video, lovely layouts and as expected more superb dry wit - keep it up! 🙏
Enjoying your vlogs very much, although I am a rail enthusiast l also enjoy the canals and waterways.l notice some of the exhibits feature the waterways, would it be possible to give them a mention ? 😊
Dave Ballinger has a visitor's centre?? Only in England... Any layout that makes a decent job of modelling water has to be good. Loved the wrecked barge too.
You didn't "give up" looking for the little naminals, you followed the centuries old advice, "Never do today what can be left until tomorrow". I loved Mr Grumpy, and his fantasy world regarding David Ballinger. Sad to say, I used to be a professional DJ, between 1974 and 1990, and I worked with the Barron Knights three times, as the supporting mobile disco, and sound system supplier, SSS, so I knew them. They were so funny, and very skilled at the voices. I won't spoil the fantasy, it had me laughing aloud.
I must admit, I thought the intro was a bit weird - but you interrupted it in just the right way, at just the right time, and I laughed out loud. If the intro had gone on a bit longer, it would have detracted - after all, we are here for the trains and the layouts. But as it was, at that length and no longer, I think it added something.
Your exhibition report was good but PLEASE stay with the trains, I NOT interested at all with the quiets or the stupid introduction by the Gentleman. I live in Australia and am NOT interested in anything other than the trains
Thank you@@stevem7868-y4l - for some reason this little video seems to have sparked some ill-humour., to be polite. You ought to have seen the very angry email I received this morning!

Another Quality job, Ms Q.
Thank you!
Another enjoyable and entertaining coverage of a model railway show. It is always interesting to see the variety of layouts on show....cheers James 🙂👍
Thank you James. Which shows will you be going to this year?

A busy - and fun - few months ahead!
@@modelrailwayquest definitely and my grandson's 009 layout to start, which should be fun to do together 🙂👍
Fantastic - can't wait to see his progress.
Also love the whole presenting style and humor. Thanks. Peter
Thanks Peter!
Thank you Dawn... really appreciate the video. 😊
Thank you John!
Just totally immersive and entertaining. Thank you very much for devoting the time to record, edit and publish such quality videos.
Awww, thank you!
As always, very enjoyable. Well done.
Great video Dawn. I come here for the terrain... locomotives are an added extra. Watching this while painting a Highland rat with bagpipes!😊😊
Now that's something you don't see on model railway layouts very often... if at all. Photos or it doesn't exist!! :-)
Just stumbled on your channel. Nicely presented video highlighting some very good modelling skills. I particularly like the attention you bring to many cameo scenes which are often overlooked.

Thank you! And welcome :-)
I enjoyed this show, and your coverage of it. Spotted myself in your video, which is always fun.
Hah! Whereabouts?
Pickpocket alert @3.07. Another great vid. I do love the intros 😂
Ha! And thank you! Have a lovely day.
Great video, wonderful layouts. 👍👍
Thank you Michael - some extremely talented model railway builders out there!
Inspiring layouts and narrative.

Some excellent layouts at Tonbridge, great video
Ive been waiting for your vid to appear Dawn and once again i wasn't disappointed. Very entertaining with good layout coverage as usual. I must say although its painful to admit, grumpy cameraman is actually becoming quite humorous 😂
Thanks Steve... oh please, don't give him any more reason to grab the mic... the ego has well and truly landed!
We'll have to reign him in a bit before he gets too big for his boots🥾🥾
Reign away.... :-)
Will do😂🤣😂👍
What a nice presentation. The camera work and editing is great and your presentation is lovely. It is so nice to see some of the little cameos. Gives me some great ideas for my bears, elephant and deer. Some of these modellers are so professional.
Love the intros
Very relaxed and enjoyable, interesting Western Canada part by jon boot.
Great video again.
Thanks - Jon's layout was great. Loved it!
I'm a railfan and enjoying watching the layouts are beautiful and awesome video 🚂🚂👍😃😎♥️ and I love the hoppy ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Just found your channel, great ideas and loving the light hearted presentation, will be watching all your videos now that I have just subscribed 👍😍

Terrific stuff Dawn. You are a breath of fresh for our lovely hobby, with your clear and concise presentation, enunciation and delivery. Less from the bloke in the background though. Keep em coming regards Paul
Thanks Paul... he won't stop butting in, that's the problem!!
Wharf Wharf, i did chuckle!
Don't encourage him.... :-)
I thought I would also like to say I like your approach to covering these layouts by explaining them. Instead of others who just quietly film them.
Thank you!
At the Timonium, Md. show they had a guy with tickets in hand walking the entrance line selling them, cash, exact change only. Sped things up very nicely.
We do that at our shows too but also with a card reader - but the quickest way is pre-sales! 😊
Who says this is a dying hobby? With lines out the door! Bill from California
Indeed - but maybe better queue handling next time we thought! :-)
Cracking video all smiles, charm and white wellies too.

Wow! Who knew Bedfordshire was such a creative melting pot of talent!!

You have a point. Grumpy is made up that you think he sounds like David Mitchell!
@@modelrailwayquest he’s a dead ringer Dawn 😂
Really good video. I can see how dead the hobby is with the total lack of attendees . Loved the intro by the way.
Yes, absolutely dead in the water ;-)

Bostin video - i spoted my Grandads 3 wheel truck in Gosfield yard 10.06
Awww, that's brilliant!
If they stopped all the people wearing rucksacks there would be twice as much room to move around in !
Good point.
