Very nice summary Dawn...ur a breath of fresh air and lets face it the hobby needs as much positivity as it can get at the moment.
The Blitz’s layout was very impressive and recreated what our parents went through during the war. I thought you got into the cab of London bus very elegantly x

What a really great show and an amazing collection of beautiful model layouts under one roof. Every layout was a miniature masterpiece. But the icing on the cake was the presentation. The introduction, the interviews, the humour and the very professional commentary bought it all together. Plus the background research that adds to the link. Well done to you both.
I did enjoy the way you chatted to the exhibitors, demonstrating that most are happy to interract with, and be accessible to, the fee paying public.
The steampunk layout was extraordinary, in a good way!
This exhibition certainly did have something for everyone. The exhibitors' stories/insights were fascinating.

There were some nice and detailed model railways there. The miniature garden railway within the garden was obviously open for the National Garden Scheme charity which also featured the plant sales and refreshments table, just like a NGS open garden event. I think I could have spent quite a while looking at all of the layouts. On probably a more controversial point and going back to bringing youngsters into the hobby, the Steam punk one by Laurie Calvert is something that could entice someone into the hobby, which could eventually lead to them building something more prototypical in the long run. yet another Bostin video Dawn love all the small details of the layouts. the Kinver Tram layout brought back a few memory's i remember the tram rails on the main roads leading from Stourbridge to Kinver edge my Grandfather worked at the goods yard in Lye and he would take me in his 3 wheeler truck has he delivered goods to factory's in the area when i was around 5 years old . the tram lines where set in cobbled roads which were later just covered over with tarmac i can remember grandad cursing every time the single front wheel caught on the tracks....
What a great memory Keith - I can just imagine your grandad getting frustrated with the cobbles! I think model railways are about recreating memories in many ways. So many people I speak to model railways from their childhoods... a simpler, happier time perhaps?
Longfield show is a great one, one of the best in the south. Enjoyed it on Saturday, next month Tonbridge, great video

If I was going to do a 009 layout, I would be getting Bachmann to produce some Volks Railway, Brighton so that I could model my number one favourite narrow gauge railway.

Great way to big up Model Railways - we need this kind of thing - let's get rid of the old 'loft railway and its mine' reprobates.
A very well produced video of a model railway exhibition and mercifully devoid of all the banal background chatter of other punters in the vicinity of filming which often spoils these sort of exhibition tour videos to the extent thatIwatchthemwiththesound off. Looking forward to the next one.

These layouts are all awesome,but i will have to keep an eye out for exhibitions closer to home.
I have Barrow Hill Roundhouse only 4 miles
from where i live,in the former LMS heartland which does of course incorporate LNER & Great Central steam,Deltic & Electric traction of the 1960s-1980s,and hosts Real Ale Festivals and even concerts yet i have never seen it advertise the hosting of a model railway exhibition.
I know they had a garden rail show last year and have one planned for this year too.

Ask about the fire ! I am almost certain it is real fire in the steampunk layout ...
For that effect I bought what I consider to be the best fake fire effect on the market. I then re-dressed it and made a building around it. Did a lot of tests to make sure the heat from the bulbs was safe for the model. It boils off water using electronics, then the water vapour speed is increased due to the convection off of the bulbs which also add the colour. Many people were impressed with our centre-piece effect, and many thought it was real. Thanks for your comment. Regards, Laurie.
In response to a now missing comment: Thanks for your comment but thankfully show exhibition organisers see that a model like this adds variation and interest to a show. Where else can you see a loco running on three adjacent rails for example. We have got numerous show invites, twenty before our first show and another ten or so whilst here and this was its first outing. All I would say is that if isn't to your liking (and no layout is to everyone's taste) then please walk by but let others enjoy the hobby in their own way. Regards, Laurie. @@gppsoftware
Brilliant, the only thing I would mention, and this is so ridiculous….. red busses are not red because they have flies, moths, carbon from exhaust pipe fumes on them…. In fact if you observe a London bus , even after a few hours after it has been externally cleaned……. They are dirty, not clean.

Again, another enjoyable review, sadly a handful of youngsters, to be seen. However, if their parents are not so orientated. It's all uphill to enthuse or get them out.
Always you come over as a professional interviewer, no doubt from previous experience as too the enjoyment in what you achieve. I wish you both, and GCM too, also all signals are off during the coming year.
I`m not venturing far as have `things to do local`, restore an old Morris light van of 1931, along with repair work and TLC upon a couple of buses, one a trolley bus up at Sandtoft.
Take care and next time wear a vest, ha, ha, ha hope one did not get a chill from the cold leather seat.🚋
It was a little chilly! But then I didn't bank on having to clamber into a bus! Grumpy is a bit of a taskmaster! But sshhh, don't tell him I said that.
