The first two are classics. I thought the golden trio were great as child actors. I-RON-ically.. I see what you did there 😂I actually liked Ron better in the first two films lol for me, he got more whiny and less likeable as the series went on. Aww Branagh was perfect as Lockhart. I never got all the hate for Chamber lol. It used to be my fav one as a kid. The book, too, probably. My only gripe the last time I saw the movie was a lot of the shots felt kind of same-y with all the close-ups. You should check out some of Jordan Peterson's brief talks about Potter. He talks about how Chamber got all of the psychological archetypes perfect. [Harry is basically Jesus.] It's also kind of the most essential to the overall plot once we get to The Deathly Hallows. Prisoner is the most well-directed for sure, but I remember being really let down by it as a kid. Especially Dumbledore.. but Gambon definitely grew into the role. I remember not caring for Oldman either as a kid. Always felt like he was overacting, but I don't mind him now. Goblet was my least fav book as a kid actually.. To the point where I stopped reading the book about halfway through and didn't come back to it until several yrs later. Goblet and Order will always be my least fav of the books and movies (although I considered Order to be my fav when I first saw it in theater). Goblet is at the bottom for me, followed by Order. Idk how well that Sphinx would've translated tbh haha I think they were just going for a psychological conundrum with the maze making you lose your mind. Kinda similar to the end of The Shining. I commend you for putting HBP at the top. It's easily the most underappreciated, and I would put it near the top as well. Yeah, that dance in Part 1 wasn't in the book lol. The Snape reveal in Part 2 ALWAYS gets me. That's probably my fav scene in the entire series, and I'm surprised you didn't mention that. Harry, Snape, and Draco were always my fav characters in the movies. HP is actually my fav film series ever :) So yeah, I think it'd be really hard for me to rank them, since it would really just depend on which kinda movie I'm in the mood for. It's a shame they couldn't just keep one consistent director the whole way through.
You are literally the first person I have have heard complain about the Harry and Hermione dance scene in Deathly Hallows Part 1, haha. It's honestly one of my favorite scenes in the whole series, and one of my favorite inclusions in the films that wasn't in the book. But I do agree that Deathly Hallows Part 1 is a bit underrated and gets a lot right. I've also never heard anyone complain about Neville's speech, which I think was fine, lol. But hey, to each their own. I'm also surprised to see Half Blood Prince make your #1. I can't say it's my favorite, but I do love a whole lot of it and think it gets a bad rep. Half Blood Prince, Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of the Phoenix, and the Deathly Hallows movies are the ones that always resonated with me the most on a personal level.
Nah, I would definitely agree with that Neville speech. I thought it was really cheesy. The dance scene I don't mind as much, but it definitely felt out of place to me. Especially since Hermione pretty much just goes back to feeling down afterwards, so that kinda just made it really unnecessary
@@RadReviews777 I disagree about the dance scene feeling pointless. They have one brief little moment of happiness and comfort, then it's back to the mission. The scene ending with them back in a somber mood is why it works.
@@robertwild9447 I get that, but I feel like they could've easily substituted that with any other scene, and it probably would've worked better. But like I said, I don't mind it TOO much :P
Despite the current state of the franchise, Harry Potter will always have a special place in my heart. Both the books and the movies are great. Some are better than others with different strengths and weaknesses from the books to the movies, but it's honestly pretty impressive just how well they pulled it off. The only critique I'd say I strongly disagree with you on is the acting from the kids. They're a bit wooden in the first one, sure, but I think they're noticeably better in the second one. From the third one on I genuinely don't have any issues with the performances from the kids.
Your ranking is crazy to me because most Harry Potter fans despise the half-blood prince movie because of the lack of focus on Voldemort's backstory in order to focus on the romance aspect of the story. I might have to re-watch it and try to see what you see in it.
I can understand that, as in my video I was very critical of the romance. Yet I think everything else was done so well it outweighed that aspect. Thanks for commenting!

Good list! Don't mind is a bit different. Truth be told, my last name is Potter, so being in high school nearly 2000s I got the jokes all the time! And I hated the franchise on principal. Then on a first date I got taken to the prisoner of Azkaban and was riveted! The next day I bought all the books that were out at the time. So Azkaban is number one for me because it has a special place in my heart. But also I loved how the magic is presented in this movie going forward, magic has a whooshing whistling sound and it gives a sort of elegance but also a sort of sharpness. I also love the use of sound with a ticking clock when they go back in time, the use of mirrors and reflections, And everything just feels slightly more dangerous. Half blood Prince ranks pretty low for me almost entirely because I hate sepia and how for a period Hollywood desaturated everything (guardians of the Galaxy was a wonderful change of pace in that landscape). I also don't like the framing and camera angles with those last three films,. Everyone's heads just looks disproportionately large compared to their bodies and everybody else. The scene where Snape is dying he is just a big head compared to Harry's little body. Just felt really weird. Freaking love the music though! Lily's theme ugh!
Oh I want to add my dislike on the goblet of fire around Dumbledore. You nailed it, he sounds like a bully, but also he seems completely out of sync and out of control. So many scenes undermine his authority, he's always reacting instead of seeming like he knows everything.
The sets are amazing! Amazing production design for sure.
Thanks for the List and Video 😀
You bet!

Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite because it was the creepiest of them all. Although I do like most HP movies.
It's a great looking movie. I almost wish I put it at an 8 instead of 7.
