Hi there we ended up using a slimline gel battery it had to lie under the seat in a relatively small space so had to be leak proof. We got it from R S Components Ltd you should find them online and they do have a number walk in shops across the UK.
Hi, beautiful bike you’ve done a great job! I’ve got an ‘89 CG125 that I’m wanting to turn into a cafe racer/brat bike and I was hoping I could ask a few questions! Would you be able to tell me where you got the Speedo from, I’ve been searching for one like that that runs off the front wheel for ages and haven’t had any luck? I was also wondering where you got the tyres from and the new tank and exhaust? Thank you in advance, again you’ve done a beautiful job!
What an amazing looking bike mate, well done. Could I possibly ask a couple of questions please? Did the rear indicators fit straight into the rear frame tubes or did the tubes need to be altered and where did you get the seat from?..........is it a custom made thing or was it bought from somewhere? Many thanks and keep up the amazing work. Glenn / Sunderland Tyne & Wear.
Apologies for the late response; modification was required, the indicators were sourced from ebay. The seat is a custom made by us. Thanks for the positive sentiments! Really appreciate it. Wish you the best!
Hi, did the rear indicators pass MOT fine? I’m thinking about doing similar to my CG125 but I’m reading online that there is a certain minimum distance apart they need to be. Cheers
Hi no all changed they are Firestone tires (Fuckstone acutally!) oversize but fit the standard rims o had to modify the swing arm and re weld the brace to give clearance. The forks and yokes have been changed to a CB350 front end that fits the frame well. As always change one thing and the snowball effect kicks in - had to modify the bracket on the forks to take the drum brakes and re-work the torque arm to give the clearance for the wider tire. Takes time but hopefully worth the end result!!
Definitely it looks great, I’m working on my cg at the moment and this is exactly the look I have in mind but I haven’t got a big budget. How long did the build take?
Hi there sorry for the delay took about 4 weeks but that was full time and involved a complete rebuild - the tires were the biggest headache as they were to wide for the stand forks and rear swing arm so both had to be changed - the forks and yokes are of a CB350 and the swing arm was taken apart and re-welded to move the center bracket back two inches to allow the clearance ... all takes time!! Would suggest finding the widest best looking tires you can, to fit the standard wheels then you won't have to go through all these modifications . It is crazy but as you change one thing it suddenly means you have to change all sorts of things for example we learnt changing the forks means the locating brackets for the brake drum are not there so then we had to modify the bake drum which then mean the brake cable was to long so that had to be changed and then it also had to be routed differently affecting the switch gear and lever the snow ball effect is crazy . So keep it simple find the look you want and work with the existing things you have to get it to that look or close as possible.!! Cheers Jon
Absolutely beautiful mate
Thank you so much, glad you like the bike! :)
Best Wishes
Simple yet cool 👌👌👌
Beautiful build, I'm having trouble placing the battery for my project, what battery did you go with?? Did the headlight flicker pass the mot?
