- This episode me and Emily travel deep into Dartmoor to explore an old manor house filled with thousands of books and antiques with some dating back well over 100 years. We risk our lives venturing around the dilapidated Mansion and discover some rare and amazing finds.

Hi Ben. Seen this done by other explorers over the years. The man that had all the books used to run an online bookshop and it is said he knew exactly where every book was and could lay his hands on it immediately. This place now has scaffolding up round it and it’s clearly being done up, from the new roof to the new windows that are being installed.
the place looks alright from a distance but up close you can tell the building has liited time to be saved, the scaffolding on the outside is not going to help the interior walls from collapsing and damaging the thousands of books
Topper of an explore, amazing place, location and views. Must have been an online type store with that amount of book, or they just liked reading. Nice one !

Wow, most of the places that you guys go and explore is just amazing😮 because truly most of the places I just haven't seen with my own eyes. It must be wonderful to go and explore out so far in places like that, especially when you get to the abandoned houses 😉👍
it really is an amazing experience exploring all these places it's my one of my passions in life and i cant see myself stopping anytime soon

very interesting place....a mystery....seems someone put new roof on part of structure.....but abandoned it....left all the scaffolding behind...so many books ...but too far from anyone to rescue..and a nightmare going thru all of them.....nice find
it does seem they started at one point to save part of the building but your defense is only as strong as your weakest point
hopefully we can be part of why these books will get rescued

Wasn't this about a man who ran a rare edition book shop, it closed down and he ran it from his home, you told him what rare book you wanted and he sent it to you, like an online store. I might be wrong, but I think I've seen this before.

No way, so many books. I'm telling you now that who ever lived in that manor house must have enjoyed reading a lot and also had a fascination with the past and history of what happened in that time. I mean you can mostly only get that type of information from the books. So, that person must have liked to study about a certain types of books aswell. And like you said Ben, it looks like they were trying to make some library in that manor house. Also when you look outside the manor house, it looks like they stopped continuing on building something more outside the manor house, because there was quite a lot of construction on the outside of the manor house. I could be wrong but it's just what I assumed
it seems they ran a type of bookshop from this remote area of the UK
we will never see this amount of books in an abandoned building ever again

So, what was in the mysterious room that was tied off??
it was the last room we filmed at the end of the video, had me on edge the way it was closed
think i've seen too many films like Saw that freaked me out
the woman who lived in this place suddenly just vanished and never been found i still think she may be trapped in the upstairs part where the floor has collapsed and there is really heavy bookcases that ls why the floors have collapsed and are like vaults that slide on a rail and close together when you turn a metal wheel these bookcases are too heavy and i have no idea how they was put in there as matt from finders beepers did this explore and he said in that area where i mentioned where these bookcases was he said there was an awful smell he even said himself that the woman just vanished with no trace hopefully this is not the outcome why she vanished i tried messaging matt and never got a reply
i talk to Matt now and then so maybe il drop him a message and see what he says
for now though we need to focus on the books as they are relevant to what needs to be saved
then maybe if there was somebody trapped you would find them by clearing the place out before it collapses
@@LostAdventuresExploring there is also a part of the building you must have missed which is easily done as every room is full of books there is a set of stairs with loads vhs videos at the top of the stairs and thats where the room has that has vault style bookcases
What a place! I don't think you'll ever figure out what the deal is on this place! There's some money in rare and first addition books but if you sold one how in the hell would you find it? How in the hell would you even know what you had in there? Was a library being torn down and somebody wanted to save the books? WTF? this is a crazy place Ben and I'm thinking it will probably remain a mystery! Cheers man!
it does seem somebody saved a library at some point as a business opportunity and tried selling them but now the owner has disappeared the books need saving somehow

you showed a photo of someone whos finished some type of acadomy in their black gown and hat... i rekon all those books are from a university, maybe because they had so much room at this mansion, they offered to store them there. towards the end of yr video, i noticed about 10 cooking books all the same, which could be used in cooking classes. just my opinion. imagine if there was a fire, it would take months to put it out
it's a very plausible theory and you could be right, hopefully there will be no fire because your right that whole place would ignite in minutes

mad bibliophile perhaps, nobody can read all those books in one lifetime, unless he was a bookseller or something and this was his business to sell in bulk.
All books online now , unless it is the uniqueness of first editions that you specialise in, they themselves can be worth a fortune but they have to be in good condition with original dustjackets etc. These are mostly beyond repair.
it does seem like he had a business opportunity and saved books from a library perhaps ?
your right nobody would have time for that amount of reading no matter how secluded your life was

How did u find out about this place ??
I'm guessing that who ever lived in that manor house must have at least tried to continue with making a library in that house because truly I mean everywhere you walked in that house was full of books. And also very old books and old photos and pictures of what could have been the family members. Looking at the calendar at the date of 2010, must have meant that they have been continuing with making the library at that time, and needed more space in the house, that is why there was that construction outside the manor house. To build extra space for more books to fit in but obviously they stopped continuing to do all of those things because now that house is completely abandoned. It's ashame really, because they could have made quite a lot of money with all of those books. But looks like they just decided to leave those books behind. Like Ben said "I wonder what they are going to do with all of those books when it's time for that manor house to fully break down". It's a good question because are they really going to do anything about those books or are they just going to decide to leave it and let it rot and fall down with the manor house? Because eventually that manor house is going to fall down, you can just see it very clearly by the state of what that house is in now.
your right, the manor is going to become so dilapidated there will be no way of survival for the books, it does seem its been abanodned for almost 15 years so really we need to contact a few people to find out if we can help get them rescued

But if not then oh well, at least you know that you have tried your best to do something for the books, right? You need to rummage through these very old, abandoned buildings in a more professional and safe manner .
Due to the mood , mildew , rodent droppings and dust of unknown origin , you MUST wear the appropriate masks even if you can only purchase N95 face masks ! Even if you do not care about your health and safety you should care about the young lady’s . Also, other young explorers might be inspired to follow your example , so please carry out health and safety precautions . 🙏🥰🇨🇦
