- So in this video we'll be discussing the many tyrants throughout the resident evil lore, ranging from the very beginning of its origin due to the umbrella corporations founding fathers discovering the progenitor virus in west africa.
To all the way now and how we can expect nemesis from resident evil 3 remake to be the pinnacle of the tyrants in today's gaming industry.
we also cover tyrants like mr x from resident evil and re2 remake, the hypnos tyrant, morpheus tyrant, and tyrant r.
we also even discuss what I call pseudo tyrants which are monsters or b.o.w.s that may seem like tyrants bu didn't meet the criteria of being one.
Also by the end of the video we'll discuss how nemesis will be like in re3 remake and how the devs could have learned from mr x from re2 remake to make this version of nemesis as ferocious as possible as we play as jill valentine in the middle of the raccoon city incident and we can escape nemesis.
as we saw from the resident evil 3 remake gameplay trailer on how we can perceive nemesis and what changes they've made for him in this game and what other story changes they'll have due to his involvement with the other characters in the game like brad vickers and carlos oliveira.

I always found it hilarious to sneak past a Licker while Mr. X was barreling towards you. The Licker would hear Mr. X's titanic footsteps and rush towards him, and just gets launched 50 feet backwards and instantly killed by one punch. Greatest thing ever, assuming you can see this happen and still evade Mr. X.
You can walk the entire game and Mr. X can't catch up to you unless he loses sight of you and teleports to another area in the RPD. I walked through most of the game on my first playthrough and also experienced the same thing lol

am I the only one that finds them more scary when they are in their first more human-like form? Something about that is just so scary to me. Also the trench coat look incredibly intimidating.
It's the uncanny Valley. They pass as human, but up close, they look too weird as well as their mannerisms

@Gui Augusto I think the dog form was an interesting twist on nemesis later forms that made things not so predictable.
The issue is that his bipedal form isn't used to its fullest potential (seriously, only using the RPG ONCE?!) and the game is so short that when he starts mutating, the player hasn't been fully familiar with his previous form to find the new form scary.
Tyrants are the most intimidating enemies in the series. Nothing scarier than a super buffed dude coming at you relentlessly
There is other scary enemies already in the game aside Tyrants.

Norman doesn’t teleport, he creates a flash that disorients his opponents similar to a flash bang, and approaches them while they are stunned, and the reason it looks like teleportation is that he is fast enough to reach us in that brief time. It is actually quite similar to how ninjas would use loud sounds and/or flashes to disorient their pursuers and fake teleportation themselves.

Tyrants in Resident Evil series are like a feared but yet my favorite bosses out there. Mr.X from RE2 is my favorite and the details of his uniform you explained are legit awesome. I thought the trench coat was to make the Mr.X much cooler or manly in fashion. But umbrella though. Thanks for this video.

Finished RE 0 for the first time 2 days ago and i gotta say, i really liked the prototyrant, it really embraces the concept of 'prototype', it literally both looks and acts like a failed experiment, and that's exactly what he is, but that doesn't make him any less dangerous, just looking at him walking slowly at you while having spasms, and also his exposed spine... it was unsettling, really

Everything about RE 0 screams 'cruel and unethical experimentation'. James Marcus was kind of a fucked up, tyrannical bastard when it came to how he treated his employees. The Proto-Tyrant is just the cherry on top of the disposed-corpse-pile-in-a-sewage-plant-sundae.

@@HeYDeVuH I mean, not just 'so many people', his own employees/trainees--anyone who came investigating his discovery of T, was captured, detained, and experimented upon, out of the paranoid suspicion that Ozwell E. Spencer would try and snipe Marcus's discovery and take it for himself. It's surprisingly appropriate when his own protegees turn around and assassinate him--I imagine the Proto-Tyrant was just some poor hapless company worker, initially, and here's Wesker and Birkin simply not wanting to end up like that, and feeling the need to jump ship before they too are double-crossed by the simply awful top-brass management. People claim Umbrella is cartoonishly back-stabbing, but it ultimately comes down to what absolute shitbags Spencer and Marcus are, and the stupid corporate espionage battles they decide to conduct in order to claim ownership over the virus research. Even the original RE events are just a cover-up from the fallout of this initial abuse of power, and the theme of stealing credit for piles of dead employees continues throughout 2, 3, and Code Veronica.
My favorite of the Tyrants is T103 like Mr. X in their original form. They're resilient and very powerful but not really grotesque looking like most of the other Tyrants as long as they don't mutate. Instead they have a determined yet serious demeanor, sauve and the most stylish with that hunter green trench coat and fedora that was added to the attire in RE2 Remake. Who could also forget those terrifying stomps when searching for you.

Morpheus doesn't count as a true tyrant. Tyrants are classified as BOW that were developped in a lab. Antagonists, while mutating into tyrant like forms are not considered tyrants because they were not born the same way. These are just considered irregular mutants.

Ustanak genuinely made me not wanna play the game back when it came out because I was scared of it. My cousin and I were playing through the whole games together, having done the same with RE5, and I actually was genuinely too scared to do too much of the Jake/Sherry campaign in a row. Although I’m also the pleb that actually enjoyed much of RE6, despite its drastic changes from the other RE games. I can recall only one thing I didn’t like about RE6 and it’s the final section of the Leon campaign. Idk. It wasn’t a very good depiction of Resident Evil, but I would say that it wasn’t a terrible game
Ustanak is kinda part of what was left of Nemesis from information I found if u watch the a video end of Outbreak file #2 I think shows a peace of meat witch is what is left from Nemesis at the end of Raccoon City and they used it mixed with the C virus then they made Ustanak

I've played almost every RE game.
I just completed RE2: Remake yesterday, bought RE3: Remake afterwards and are what I assume almost halfway through...
Nemesis is so brutal and relentless to the point where I just think "If it was real he would've killed her from their first encounter".
He doesn't damage the player as much as he is capable of. He can literally survive anything, break through walls and shit, but somehow every bone in Jill's body is still intact? 😂
Love it though! I think it's the same reason for my love for Outlast. The feeling of being helpless and stopping isn't an option 💯

After the shit we saw in resident evil 6 what the mold threw at us felt tame in comparison. XD
Nemesis still gets the top spot for me. In the disposal facility and before his final form, he can lose his head and arm and still keep coming. Then his final form needs several hits from a damn rail gun to put him down, no one hit rockets like Mr X.
That was interesting isn't it that he was still so active even after losing his head. Also I found it Ironic that he spits out acid in his final form because just before then, he was damaged by acid when trying to attack Jill, causing him to lose a couple of his tentacles.

I love how a tyrant isn't just a hulking braindead mass of muscle unlike the "tank" special zombie that zombie games tend to have. Those are mostly shown as bullet sponges that deal huge damage but are always slow af with limited abilities.

Hey Duvah, I really enjoy these Resident evil videos, but your voice is quite relaxing and I like the way the pace you talk sort of changes at the end of every sentence.
I like how most of Nemesis’ music always adds what sounds like a beating heart. At least it sounds like it to me.

I never knew there was so many tyrant viruses let alone had different names. I remember the one in RE2 and RE3.
I rented those games back in the day when that was a thing. I never finished those games because of those dudes! Lol! It just felt so unfair. I just kept dying. It wasn’t an RPG so I couldn’t get stronger.

Yeah there are even more Tyrant variations that the ones mentioned here but yeah they can be terrifying to a point you just dont wanna deal with them.
The Tyrant in RE2 only appeared in the second scenario, meaning after you had beaten the game once. So whatever blocked you from beating it was likely some other boss, most likely G.

Mr X has to be one of my favourite tyrants, due to his silent persistence in hunting you down. The jump scare in the original RE2 still shits me up to this day, it was just so unexpected. I love the improvements they made to him in the RE2 Remake, just the fact that he actively stalks you throughout the police station and his loud footsteps aren't just ambient noise in the background. He's persistent and durable able to survive things that would normally kill a person. Also the amount of strength he shows in his base form, crushing Ben's skull like an egg, lifting a helicopter with one hand and even smashing through walls was terrifying.
Another favourite of mine though I'm not entirely sure if he counts as a tyrant or not, he does have the hallmarks of one is Nosferatu from Code Veronica. I love the level of foreshadowing that went into him. When you first see him in that short cutscene you just knew that you were going to fight him at some point. The boss battle with Nosferatu didn't disappoint either, he attacked with the tendrils sticking out of his back and the purple poisonous gas he emitted was a challenge to avoid, especially since being poisoned by it can effect the game later on and couldn't be cured by blue herbs. But what made Nosferatu so terrifying was his backstory. He was experimented on by his own children after they learned the truth of their birth and even then he was deemed as a failure and locked away for 15 years, his haunting screams scaring the workers in the terminal. The truly scary thing was that he was suspicious of what his daughter was up to and suspected that she may end up experimenting on herself and actually created a weapon to use in the event that she went too far. It was just a shame that he was experimented on before he could use it, what was sad though was after he was killed by Claire his body was just put on display by Alexia who clearly had no love or respect for her father at all.
The tyrant from Damnation was another favourite, he was a giant, intimidating behemoth that only had to glare at you to strike fear. His strength and intelligence were shown throughout the fight and even with the heavy looking coat and muscle mass he could still reach great speeds at a full on sprint and didn't seem to be hindered at all by his size. He was able to single handedely and mercilessly take down a pack of lickers without even breaking a sweat and when he mutated he was able to grab a rocket out of the air and change its trajectory. It was eventually taken out by a tank when a licker jumped on his face as a distraction. The rest were taken out by tactical airstrikes. A terrifying opponent and would be really cool if we saw a variant of this tyrant in an RE game.
I wish we could have the last tyrant in the video in a game. Maybe a few of them through out the story. Would be sick if we could program on to face off against another...but i def agree that tyrant in damn nation was the best one. The height the power the look foot steps ut all worked so well. Seeing more than one was awesome and them working together that would make a hell of a game!
RE-2 Mr-X theme has the door knocking music sfx it is badass actually.
1. Nemesis: In my opinion he is the strongest, because he only went down after they nuked a whole city.
2. Hypnos: I like the lore behind it.
3. Tyrant(RE1)/Mr.X(remake-design): Couldn't decide between these two.
With your picks you can't go wrong and each were amazing and that's true that we may never really know if Nemesis was actually dead by the end of RE3 because it kept on coming back

He's definitely not the most intelligent (that goes to Ivans). His unfortunate predecessor may have been most self-aware, though. Also, if you count tyrant-like bosses, they are smarter and way more self aware.

It was because of the alpha parasite, although it gave Nemesis the required intelligence, it also malformed his body and human traits, like it did with Lisa trevor.
The Parasite caused deformities. He was a prototype as well so they hadn't fixed the deformities.

I'm sure someone else has said this but I didn't see it, but natural selection doesn't really work in the way described. It doesn't mean the strongest automatically wins or reproduces, or even that it's a natural, smooth progression from A to B. Just that in a given niche, biome, or environment, the organisms best suited for it will reproduce and survive. There's no conscious 'selection' happening
The Super Tyrants from RE: Damnation are kinda too overpowered for the RE Universe though.

If that were true, it would be much more frequent than what we see in the game, so instead it is most likely extreme but short bursts of speed that is used somewhat sparingly in order to allow for more time.

Much larger, taller and stronger than any other Tyrant by far.
Very smart and retains his intelligence when going Super Tyrant.
Has shown to have superior reflexes to any other Tyrant so far as well, it can effortlessly neutralize rockets fired at him (he humiliated Leon 1vs1 too)
Extremely aggressive and efficient: he doesn't fuck around nor taunt, he sprints towards his foe, grabs it, instantly crushes his head then throws his lifeless corpse away.
Very fast.
Objectively speaking, no Tyrant can match that behemoth, the T-013. It's just sad Nemesis fans are so obsessed with him they won't ever accept that, as the series goes forward, better BOWs will be created.

Imagine the T-103 model tyrant equipped with an advanced suit of power armor. The armor could act as life-support, as well as provide protection to limit mutations. It could also further enhance the tyrants physical prowess and provide additional control systems.
