Ralph Kirkpatrick, the most common cataloguer of Scarlatti's sonatas, equated this beautiful work to sparkling water in the fountains of Aranjuez! Romanticism aside, it truly is gorgeous, Spanish and evocative! I remember including it with great affection amongst my audition repertoire back in 2013 during a v hot summer in my attempts to return to Melbourne University. I failed on that attempt, but prevailed the following year. Vivo Scarlatti! ❤
I think this is one of everyone's top ten! Your performance is one of the finest. You did ALL the ascending tremulos; yes- that is the RIGHT way! Good call.
A quick note to let you know that the harpsichordist is Scott Ross, who made the first recording of what was then known as Scarlatti's "complete" keyboard works on 34 CDs in the 1980s, in the extraordinarily short timeframe of less than two years! More sonatas have been discovered since then, which is also the situation for harpsichord works by Padre Antonio Soler. All the same, Miguel's animated scores for this glorious music is a wonderful achievement! 🎉
@@thegildedpagestudio6485There has been found more sonatas from Scarlatti? Interesting because i was listening to a harpsichordist on Spotify and i noticed sonatas i’ve never heard berfore.
@@thegildedpagestudio6485I had no idea that more sonatas by Scarlatti have been discovered since the 1980s! How many have been discovered? Have they been recorded, and if so, by whom? This is the most exciting news Ive heard in years! 🎼🎇🎆🎉🎊🏆🎯🎹🎭📯❤️🎵🎶🆒

This sonata is beautiful, but it also has a disturbing quality Ive never been able to put my finger on, so to speak. Is it melancholy, tinged with anxiety? Or something else? 😮

Evviva. "Vivo" means "I live" in Italian.
