I watched their short film, i kept expecting at every turn to have some homophobic or otherwise controversial plot twists that are all to common in gay stories. But, there wasn’t, it was just a pure story about how two young people discovered each other. That within itself was so refreshing. I really like everything about it and i hope a lot of people see it. 🎉

I was in high school in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Back then if there was a rumor about someone being gay, the jocks would be lined up by the entrance to the school to give that person their obligatory daily beatdown. Romance was not really an option. It is so nice to see videos like this.

I agree. The story in this video is very much like the way I, in high school, wished it could have been for me and my crush, but, alas, society did not see fit to allow us to follow our natures rather than the rules in the "student handbook."
11:01 1/24/2023 I was too and painfully remember those days. Often I wonder how different my life would have been had I been able to be me, a gay boy, and accepted for being so.
Wow this follow up interview was as good as the film ! So great to see this and the film which gave me so many flash back memories of days to my own high school and college relationships. This film and follow up chat was an A+ ! And now in my twilight years I hope to find the right person and have the excitement that real love brings to one's life. Also my hat off to this really upbeat host [Ugo Lord] for the followup was spot on & did a great job with all the right questions! Best to the entire team that made this film a keeper!!

I liked this better than the film, actually, however the actors (especially Christian) needed better microphones. Don't get me wrong... the film is a great story; but it is just that. "A story", and many, many miles from what the real world is actually like. I think that there were way more truths spoken in this interview.
Many little things in the film grated on me.
Just a few... 'Camer-on' needed two knocking attempts on the window to drag his attention from his reading, and then after the customers showed almost no aggravation, Camer-on eventually called them the A-holes! Maybe THAT's what teenagers are like these days? IDK.
Connor is way too much of a nice-guy for a football jock. Even a budding-gay football jock who is about to instigate his first dude-kiss!
The previous day Jayden had said "it's a date" on how many occasions? Yet, as it becomes evident that it is turning into a date, Jayden doesn't restate his previous day claim. "OMG - IS this a date / OMG - this IS a date!" were missing. I guess that he was just overwhelmed?
Then Camer-on arrives in the carpark within arms-length of the kissing jock and his kissee before even noticing them??? That's unlikely, and it's even less likely that the sassy Camer-on would say nothing and turn away. Any other teen would have snapped a pic with their fone, and said 'wait 'til I show this around school on Monday!'
I know! I sound like a whinger. Sorry!
I still look forward to the series, especially how the parents (and five brothers) will react to the news. I had a full-time lesbian sister and a sometimes lesbian sister, and have seen how families can be (but that was last-century-teens at work).

I love that there's a show coming out and I hope it stays with the theme of the movie, we really don't need some sad traumatic stuff so please keep it positive. A good example is a show like heartstopper which yes has some drama but the goal is to be positive and uplifting at the ending. I can't watch anymore sad ass traumatic gay movies and shows, I really can't.
We whole-heartedly agree. We are very focused on continuing the Connor & Jayden story... and ensuring that their core story of hope, romance and love is the center of it all. Even as we introduction a large cast and the expanded world they live in. Get ready to meet their parents, friends, teacher and the town that is part of their world. Its all part of the series in development.

This delightful film seems to answer the often-voiced complaint about "gay themed" films having sad, downbeat, depressing, tragic endings. But this warm, sweet, innocently romantic film gives us an unabashedly, unashamedly happy ending. I love the little touches... the "you kiss by the book" quote from R&J, or that it was the first dude-on-dude kiss for each of them, or that the "straight" young man went from a movie to a potential prom couple over the course of the first date, or that the "gay" young man teasingly plays hard to get at the beginning, and is taking a cooking class because he wants to be a chef. The "straight" young man has a big red Hummer (?) but it takes the "gay" guy to get the engine started. Finally, in the actors' interview neither one made sure to reference a girlfriend or wife, as I've seen so many times with actors in gay-themed films. I'm guessing one actor is and the other isn't, but who knows? That's not the point; it's who they were on screen. This is a wonderful "first-love" story. Maybe it's best left at that.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts. You hit just about every major point that we attempted to incorporate into the story to reflect the innocence of youth and first love... just with a gay twist. It isn't seen often enough in entertainment and we wanted to have a story reflect some of our own personal experiences as well as hopes for a less judgmental future. Again... thank you for watching!

I love this movie bring back memories of my young wild day where I thought my first guy was going to be my long last guy....After many more guys later, still back at square one, there is still hope out there to find THAT one for each and all of us. Great Job!!!

I very much wish I could have experienced that surge of first love with---and not just toward---my First Beloved, but there were too many haters and obstructors who refused to allow us to love according to our natures rather than according to their het prejudices.
The most cutest onscreen couple ever!!!! I just loved their chemistry in that short film.. I wish it was made into a full feature film.. There was so much positivity in that SF and I loved it.

I can totally see a series about this couple post high school and following them as they try out adulting, starting with them moving in together, which is a serious step. However, to introduce some conflict, Jayden goes to college while Connor doesn't because his injury prevents him from playing football, so his chances for a full-ride have evaporated. Since Jayden will be attending college out of state, Connor makes the decision to move with his boyfriend, which co-habitating is not only a huge decision (remember, they haven't even been together for a year) but removing them from their comfort zone would be challenging. From there, it would be an interesting dynamic that one has his future mapped out, while the other is trying to figure out what's next. There can be misunderstandings, hurt feelings and insecurities but they should persevere every time because of their love for each other. I do think that Connor should have a jealousy problem (but not too crazy) because that's such a natural element in relationships.
Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts on how you would like to see Connor & Jayden's story continue. There is much left to explore of these two characters. One thing we agree on for sure.. is that their romance/love-story is the core and will remain positive... even if there are a few bumps in the road (after all... every great romance isn't without it's trials).

You both are fantastic actors. It didn’t feel like 2 people acting when I watched to movie, you two are extremely talented. My favorite scene was also the car scene and the dialogue/conversation between “Conner” and “Jayden”. It was funny, witty, flirty and very positive. I absolutely loved the entire movie and it was over way too fast. I could have watched a full length feature about their love story. Sending love and respect from Germany ❤

One line I didn't agree with in the movie was when they were discussing what Connor could be when he had finished school. Connor suggested maybe he could be a cop and Jayden said "your too skinny". I don't think he is too skinny to be a cop. I hope there is a sequel to this short movie. I loved both guys in it.
I actually think it captured the moment perfectly. They weren’t interested in talking about potential future careers. It felt like small talk to break the ice. It portrayed the way teenagers interact in real life.

From 1976 until I first saw this film a few months ago, I thought the horror movie, Carrie, was the greatest high school/prom film ever made; not for its horror aspects, but for the very real trauma that several of the characters endured. But Connor and Jayden have entirely changed my opinion (which is a mighty hard thng to do, as I am set in my ways), and they also prove that calling their relationship "gay" love is a misnomer: Love is love is love, and to label it "gay" love is to suggest that it is not just plain ol' Love. Sure, there is a beauty in male to male love, and I stand with the Uranian Poets of England, and the ancient Poets of Alexandria and Rome on that aspect; but the love between Connor and Jayden is not different from Love because they share the same gender. When I was a freshman in public school, in 1973, my English class spent a couple of weeks doing a reading aloud of Romeo and Juliet---no costumes, just a bunch of freshmen reading what was, for most of them, their first exposure to Shakespeare. But, our teacher changed the gender assignments---so that I was selected to read Juliet, and my main rival in the class, Cathy S---, was Romeo. What we learned was that the several declarations and descriptions of Love, in the verbal exchanges between the title characters, did not depend on gender. They were equally valid, and equally poignant, regardless of whose voice was ennunciating the words. In that time and place, with so much repression around us, this great new knowledge we had gained in the class did not go very far in the outside world. But now, almost five decades later, I see the same truth, depicted with different details but the same meaning, in Connor and Jayden. Their declarations of Love, like Romeo's and Juliet's, are not gender narrow: they are, instead, the pure Poetry of Love that is Love that is Love, and need no more fear to mention its name---because its name is only and always what it has been, and will be forever: LOVE.

At the heart of Connor & Jayden is a love story... and the idea that love can exist no matter what the sexual orientation of its characters or actors. We entered into the production blindly casting actors that best suited the character story and not based on their personal sexual orientation. We don't have any information on their personal situation... but we certainly understand your inquisitive nature. Thank you for watching and commenting.
D.J. certainly has made a good point in his question and I agree with his opinion. My gaydar indicates that Christian Barba (Connor) is straight and Ty Newcomb (Jayden) is definitely gay. A few years ago, questions such as these were probably inappropriate, but now fewer people are homophobic bigots and so D.J.’s question is proper and interesting. Actors in LGBTQ movies should expect viewers to inquire about their sexual orientation.
I was in a grocery store last year and woman and I had a delightful conversation in the bakery. About ten minutes later we met again in the pharmacy while I was standing in line for a prescription. There she asked me if I were gay and I told her that I was. She proceeded to tell me that she was a lesbian. Everyone in line heard our conversation. If this were to have happed five years ago I would have mortified, but the conversation, though surprising, didn’t bother me. I must admit that I could never ask a guy face-to- face is he were gay.
This movie, _Connor and Jayden: The Story of Us,_ and those like it are very important, not only to the LGBTQ community, but to society in general. This is a light-hearted movie that portrays gays as being people being accepted as opposed to individuals to be avoided at all costs. I feel that this movie and others like it can put at least a partial control on homophobic bigotry. I realize that there are forms of bigotry against other sectors of society such as Jews and people of certain non-white races. I don’t understand any of it. These sectors of society pose no threat to anyone.

school can be cruel - sometimes - mostly when you belong to a minority and live in countryside (villages and small towns - not much people around you) - in german i say "ländliche idylle voller hinterweltler mit antiquierten ansichten zu allem" - would sound like " rural idyll full of backworlders(rednecks) with antiquated views on everything" in english - i wish i had something like this when i was in school - i´m gay and i often heard that shows strengh to said it and be proud of it
Thank you for sharing your personal story. We believe there needs to be more positive story’s that highlight gay relationships that don’t implode from drama within the couple. Everyone has their challenges, especially gay couples, but it doesn’t have to destroy their bond.
