    Superb Garcia Exploration 52. Some noticeable differences from previous Exploration 52's. A truly great blue water sailing boat for all climate and oceans. Great job from French shipyard Garcia.

    • @SVTONICBoatWives
      @SVTONICBoatWives  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      She sailed really well, not bouncy but stable as she ploughed her way through the sea. I lost a lot of footage but will be out on her again next summer so we hope to redo a lot of the sailing (manoeuvring and technical stuff) again. I can say we had wind against tide and around 2/2.5kn of tide as we were on springs which for most boats a very uncomfortable setting but the Garcia 52 just sat in the water and kept us moving forward at a good pace. I think the boats are similar as regards to how they handle and cope with different conditions but I want an Allures and I prefer for my taste and needs for sailing the cockpit setup of the Allures but the safety of the Garcia. It's a hard choice. Thank you for watching and I am glad you liked the video, if you have any questions do ask as we will be taking this boat out again in early summer 2024 to make a technical and pure sailing video. , if you have any questions do ask as we will be taking this boat out again in early summer 2024 to make a technical and pure sailing video.

At that size it would be really hard though to choose between the rugged Exploration 52 and the more roomy but without pilot house or workshop Allure 51.9. Boat is indeed made for those who also want to pursue high latitude exploration. Jimmy Cornel did a northwest passage on the Garcia 45, Aventura. I believe that Arctic Monkey, another Garcia 45, also did the passage. However, you wouldn't do it in the winter. It's not meant to go crab fishing in the Bering sea in January.

If money was not the issue, would you get the 52? or stick with the 45? for reasons of 1 out in big seas? 2 trying to get into a busy marina? 3 high winds and tides when at anchor? and 4 any other reasons? Also at the end of the video there is an open door next to the very tall radiator at the end off the saloon sofa, is this the door to the under floor cabin? Is that shown in any of your videos? Many thanks for such a great and informative channel. Keep up the good work. Cheers Rich

    that dehumidifier feature, along with very good headroom has impressed me, as insulation next to the hull of metal boats can be a real prinlem due to condensation getting between the insulation and the Hull, which can do some pretty serious damage taking place with it being out of sight. I think I'd want the internal hull barrier coated with a condensation drainage system working away there on the internal face of the insulation as a first line of defence and backed up with that nice Dehumidification system ? Humidity and Condensation can be as big a problem in the Tropics as in the colder regions, and there is probably a way of using that Condensation with airflow as evaporative cooling, which if done right, can be surprisingly powerful. I had a very powerful Breathable Waterproof two piece Oversuit over my motorbike Gear (actually a Golfing Oversuit ) when touring, that never let a drop in, and in torrential Downpours on the Continent in Summer, I'd get so cold, Id have to stop in rest areas to have hot drinks to helpwarm up very frequently. That was all down to the limited movement of air over the Suit, as I had a bice touring Givi Screen on the front, Silver with a Silver front wheel mudguard, so in a driver's rear view mirror, it looked like there was a bloody big Silver Dagger coming up behind. that subliminal messaging worked an absolute treat too.😂. Best Wishes. Bob. 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️❤️

    Something I would add to a galley, which American boats frequently have , is an electric waste disposal unit in one of the Sinks, and a Trash compactor, especially on a boat that's likeley to spend a fair bit of time Offshore ? 🤔 Bob. 👍⛵️✨️✨️✨️❤️

    • @GroppeljohannKlotenkempe-vr6oh

      You really want to put your waste imto your sink and then into your tanks? I know US people like to do this but even at home this is hilarious and you want to do this on a boat? Really?
      Trash compactor is a must. I do not understand why it missing on ALL small bluewater yachts. There is also never ever a proper place to put your waste. I always wonder if people just throw it overboards or keep their waste in the saloon…

    • @brownnoise357
      @brownnoise357 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @GroppeljohannKlotenkempe-vr6oh Sigh, the Waste disposal Sink Grinds up all the Waste food, potato peelings, bits of carrot, Cabbage, coconut, Banana etc, which with seawater goes down the pipe from the sink and through a Through Hull exits the Boat and is released as Fish food or crustacean food. It doesn't end up in a Tank, and a TrashbCompactor neatly crushes recyclable Waste into a compact volume prior to adding to Collection Bins. I haven't had a Trash Compactor on a boat yet, but have had a Waste disposal Unit at home for years, though probably a better substitute on a Boat would be a Really good blender ? 🤔 Best Wishes Bob. 👍

      @GroppeljohannKlotenkempe-vr6oh Vegetable and fruit waste, can be put in a blender, then put in a decent sized bucket and add sugar, water, and activated Bread yeast, put a cloth over the bucket to keep flies out, let it ferment, then tip it over the Side when far enough from the Coast, but blended fruit and vegetables are not litter or waste, they are food for marine Life , so do not do any harm, but the smell of fermentation is really nice, seems especially when you add over ripe Bananas ? you could just let things complete fermenting until finished, Spain off the liquid, and if competent, cistilmitvto Extract the Ethanol, separated from the Esters, and the 50 % Ethanol is excellent for making Spirit Liquers with. Copper Stills are best, and I have a very nice Legal one made in Italy, which usually can be sourced from Ebay. It isn't that hard to Distill properly, especially if you don't use Rapid Fermentation High Strengthbyeasts which produce large amounts of Disgusting Tasting Estsrs. Stick to slower Fermentation yeasts like read yeasts for great results. Then chuck the leftovers over the side of the boat to feed the fish. 👍

    Honest question. I have no experience of in-mast furling, or in-boom furling for that matter, but would you really, on a Garcia 52? It just seems like a boat- a tier of boats- that a person buys because they're planning to do some of the things it's actually capable of. I can't imagine a malfunction, not being able to reef in highish latitudes... I'd think it would be a negative for resale in what I imagine the used Garcia market to be.

Yes, you can add a keel to make a larger rig for your yacht but for what purpose? If you want to go fast buy a performance yacht, if you want to have the ability to explore places most yachts can't go then buy a Garcia. Allures have a more sporty 45s with a lifting keel and carbon rig and it is faster than the standard 45 but as soon as you lift the keel you are changing the stability of the yach?

      @@SVTONICBoatWives There is no need for a performance yacht, you can take a HR, or a Nordship or a Contest. Also Boreal has more sails.

      @@easyman8609 Just going by your example, X-yachts, Hanse etc but I believe a sail area of 177m2 is fair for a 50ft yacht don't you as standard?. If you think it has a small m2 that's fine we can go back and forth all night if you wish, But my first question stands what is the purpose of the yacht and what do you expect from it? Then and only then can you start to compare with relevant data starting with design, engineering and rig?

    Great Tour, and as a fan of Jefa Steering, it hit me that only Sirius Yachts for some reason are the only ones using their excellent three position easily moved single wheel Steering System, which to me, makes a lot of sense, as otherwise I'm not exactly a huge fan of fixed Wheels in a Cockpit . If it's a small Aft Cockpit the wheel an be a total obstructive pain in the backside. tbh, only the fact that Sirius only make Deck Saloon Sailboats, ruled one out for me for the Tropics, as added to limited internal Air Volume hampering Hot Air management andRemoval slapping a glazed greenhouse on a Monohull only exacerbates the Problem. Otherwise the Sirius Brand do build extremely high quality boats, and the twin Keel version would be perfoct for around Britain, Baltic, NE and NW Coasts ofCanada and the USA , and overall, a realy lovely Boat Builder. tbh, I'm wondering if I can get that three position Wheel Jefa System as a Custom option on a new build now, Talk about Liberating an Aft Cockpit. 🤔 Best Wishes. Dream boat for sure, saving my nickels. The camera closeups are hard to watch. I want to see more of the boat but not in this format. Please, better angles or something.

    The way Orcas are sinking Fibreglass sailing vessels lately!?!. serious ocean cruisers must be considering Aluminium hulls.

    Do NOT do videos when the sun is in your face and everything else is dark. Not sure if it is your camera or what is going on but there is no point to recording these videos unless you can do the lighting and sound properly. Just refuse those ones.
