The word "Hero" is often overused - Not in this case Pete Goss is the real deal, Pete did not "just" rescue Raphaël Dinelli, in a hurricane in the Southern Ocean he turned his boat around, into the storm, effectively ending his race, to go back and rescue Raphaël. In France he is held in very high esteem, rightly so, he was awarded an MBE and the Legion d'Honneur, his opinions on a good boat deserve the utmost respect. I also recommend Pete's excellent book "Close to the Wind" I have never heard of Garcia Yachts, but I certainly have now because if Pete Goss likes it, that matters in my opinion.
Wow. I remember this event when it happened. It was on the news for days. Every news program was giving his position and where he was in relation to the French guy that needed picking up. He gave a pretty good endorsement of this boat. I'd buy whatever he's selling.
Another source for this story is the book Godforsaken Sea. It's about the 1996-1997 Vendee Globe race where this happened. A gripping story. The fact that Goss chose this boat speaks volumes.
yow Garcia Yatchs, in 2025 I'm coming to Normandy to order mine the 52' , remember my name ;), I've seen Pete Goss review 100 times and will see 1000 more, wish one day I have his wisdom, knowledge and experience, there's is no real competitors on the market for this well engineered sailors boat. Congrats
Wow!! Pete you are a legend! My husband, David has fallen in love with this yacht. Mind you, his love has switched from Deerfoot to Fleming to Nelson to Concordia to Oyster. As a Master Mariner, he has racked up tens of thousands of miles. BUT never before has he woken me up at 6am to tell me he has a NEW favourite yacht. Soooo, I have bought a ticket for tonight's Euromillions and I promise you that if I win, he will be phoning you to buy one. 🤞
I was lucky enough to hear Peter deliver a talk some 25 years ago what great bloke. Garcia will make lots of sales as Peter had bought a boat and endorses it.
I followed Pete way back in his '40' days and the crazy cat that broke up snd many more? So glad you have been ably to get through and get to enjoy so exotic places you only sailed by before. Lovely yacht, sign me up! If only ! Cheers and continued success Warren
I had a pint with Pete years ago. The cheeky Norwegian sailing lad I was hanging around with at that time said to me "I'm gonna ask Pete for sponsorship to continue sailing etc hes in that pub over there come on." So we went and he did. Pete laughed and opened his wallet pulled out two twenties and gave them to him. Ahh brilliant. Yeh what a bloke.
So many gems of knowledge! I just learned more about the reality of liveaboard blue water sailing in 15 mins, than I have in months of watching other channels.
Producing, filming and editing this piece with Pete and Tracey was a DREAM job on a DREAM boat. This is my first time having a dream boat. It just makes SO much sense.
WoW, I have just seen THE ULTIMATE boat review. Best 45 out there no doubt about. Congrats Pete, couldn't had chosen a better one, THANKS for showing! (Maybe only a double cockpit table is missing, instead of the single one in center)
Pete Goss, one of my idols, I was crying several times during i was reading his book and how he saved Raphael Dinelli...if he says the boat is greatit must be...! Thank you for emotions and have a good wind...
I really enjoyed meeting you two in Annapolis. I know Tracey doesn't like being on camera, but in life, she is a hoot and loved talking to her. The line to get on your boat that looked bran new was always long so I didn't want to take up to much time. It is my dreamboat and hopefully, I have one soon. You met so many people but I bet I am the only one from Montana. Cheers both you and boat are truly lovely.
Great tour of an amazing yacht by a true legend. A seal of approval and mark of quality if there ever was to have Pete Goss as a customer. I've been drooling over one of these for years hoping to one day be able to afford one and then sail it till the end of my days.
Wow! You just took weeks and weeks of researching sailing yachts and made it all a waste of time. Ha! Absolutely fantastic review. Thank you for sharing your home. I learned so much and you probably saved me a ton of frustration with all the “pearls” of wisdom and engineering. Really enjoyed all the little details that make your boat truly unique and the happiness and safety you have with a boat that serves you. Thank you.
Read your books long ago and think your definitely doing life right. Thanks for posting this as I’m in that mindset now being the big 60! Sail on Pete!!
Without a doubt the best review I've ever seen on TH-cam of any.Boat. Excellent. Thank you. And yes, the presentation is wonderful. The ease at which he talks ,clearly is by someone with years of experience.
I am impressed by the boat, but more impressed with his wife, who after 2 sails agrees to go around the world. That is true trust and bravery. Good on her.

Beautiful boat very enthusiastically explained with personal anecdotes which makes it all that much more interesting, you are a very lucky couple, thank you for letting us mere mortals into your world briefly.
Wow Pete Goss, remember his book and especially the phrase "Time spent having a cup of tea is rarely wasted". What a great boat and review. Room for guests you say Pete?...
Pete, I really enjoyed your very detailed tour around your Garcia 45. Looking after so many sailboats of this stylish, this one became my dream now... However, even dreaming costs money. I can't keep up with my lottery tickets ;)
Thank you, you've taught me a lot! It's a beautiful yacht! I watched this and then realized I'm parked just down the row from Pearl where I'm working on a Pearson 27.
That must have been one of the best boat tours i have seen. What a fantastically designed vessel and brought to us with so much charm. Well done and thank you for sharing! 🙌🏽
We had a Wauquiez 43 pilot saloon designed by Ed Dubois which we sailed around the world over 8 years. Very similar concept of a raised saloon with lots of space below for equipment etc and 2 big cabins. Also same rigging (slutter). Sold it last year. That was a marvellous boat but this looks even better being in aluminium and with lifting keel (wish we had that in the Pacific).
Wauquiez PS 43 is a very good boat indeed. Garcia Exploration concept is more radical on different points, such as thermical insulation for example. A matter of choice, regarding each ones’ sailing project! BR,
Probably the best yatch review I've seen. Thank you. It would be interesting to see Garcia release a model with an electric engine which would be a game changer as the yacht appears to generate surplus electricity
Keith R Joseph : Thanks a lot for your very positive input. Pity you didn’t come in Boot Düsseldorf where a GE 52 with an Oceanvolt electric propulsion system was shown! Come and visit her in our shipyards in Cherbourg (France)! Best regards.

Well presented. Pete should get a commission for articulating the features and benefits of the this boat really well. Well done.
My dream. But, alas, I'm only an elementary school teacher. The cost of such a beautifully designed boat is something I can barely comprehend.
Half a million, give or take 50k depending on options. Unsure if that is new or used.
