i just bought a 2022 garage kept and basically brand new from an older guy who bought it rode it a few times then decided to sell, guy had alot of toys and just decided to let it go, had over $3k in upgrades on it fully kitted out and never been off road, let me have it for $6500, felt like i made out like a bandit! its my first bike, only rode it twice so far but already in love and cant wait to see where it takes me :)
100 percent agree! I have had a renewed interest in riding. I still love Harley's! But the KLR is my go too bike. It's so much fun to roll around on, commute on, ride in the backwoods. If it doesn't say "no motorcycles" I am riding it there!
Great Video. I have a KLR, a Monster and a Street Bob. All three provide a different experience. I love my KLR and I actually enjoy trail riding more than anything else. its purpose built and it does what is built for very well. Also the KLR can take a beating. Once you have fallen a few times you will be happy you did not spend a lot on it. lol! I have crash bars front and back. Recommendation. Soft saddle bags. Hard ones will break when you fall. Also replace the stock skid plate with a metal one and install a low profile oil plug.
The best thing you can do now is find some friends with similar interests doing the same thing on a bike. And do it with headsets where you can talk to each other. Riding without headsets is like going to the bar with your friends but not being able to talk to each other.
0:22 1) %100 agree, I’m always looking for place to just explore!!! The riding style is so different once you get off pavement, you’re not just riding, you’re immersed….
2:02 2) I agree…? I am ok at street bike riding, but when I first went off pavement, I was a nervous wreck! It took me a long time to develop enough confidence to feel like I can handle most anything I find off pavement. On the pavement, I don’t feel like there’s a road anywhere I can’t handle…
Great video, been riding all my life or a least since I was 8 yesterday. Old, love my klr650, also have a ducati 749s and a ultra classic harley davidson, I just love riding.
4:20 4) Costs are so varied on ADV bikes, it’s amazing how much you can actually spend!!! I bought used, saved a bunch of money, and it didn’t hurt as much when I had the first drop!!😂😂😂
Awesome experiences are around every corner on a dual sport/ adventure bike. I've had all different kinds of bikes and the klr650 and my xr150l have been on my favorites list. Glad to hear you're enjoying the klr650. 👍
I have been riding bikes street and dirt off and on all my life …. I am also 59 and until 2022 I haven’t owed one for Thirty years but in 22 I bought the KLR adventure because I am a full time rver now…. Going on 3 years ….. I am like you I love with this bike…. So enjoy my friend ….
Its so weird going down McGregor rd. To Dex Pinckney to Hell , Behind your windshield. 😅 Ive never owned a road bike. Just dirt bikes. I have my first Dual sport now ( 2024 KLX300 ) . Its a great bike, just hard to ride on windy days due to being so lightweight. The KLR was on my list and the same price but was too big for me .
Like a lot of us, I have had lots of bikes over the years. I had a 2015 Gen2 KLR. Just purchased a 23' KLR s (Short) Fire road exploring is the most off road I will ever do. Love the bike. Cheers.
You're right I find the other day big lake in the middle the nowhere, only access with motorcycle narrow passes, there are many hidden places like this down here in Naples Fl. Thanks for the video real good.
I added a Honda XR150L in June, and agree with all your points. I take that Honda all kinds of places I would not take my CanAm Spyder, or even my RAV4. NW Iowa is pretty flat, but lots of gravel and dirt roads to explore. And a lot of Minimum Maintenance roads with little traffic, other than during planting and harvest, when there is farm equipment on them. I am having a blast on the Honda, and have the Spyder for highway trips. Love both bikes, but in different ways.
Coming from a 1,500 cc cruiser I am a little worried about the engine size. I’m 6 foot and have not always fit the best on “smaller” bikes but I guess I’ll have to sit on one to find out
Think you will do well, I am 6”3 and it works well for the riding I do. More dirt and gravel backroads and I have two cruisers like you for the other stuff.
I’m 6’5” tall and 360 weight and the bike does just fine.my bike has no problem running 75-80 on the highway or running 10-20 on a single track. I had to redo the front and rear suspension and handle bar risers to make it “mine”. I also have an Electra Glide and a Victory Vision that I also ride and they don’t get much bigger than that. On both of those bikes I had to have the seats custom made to accommodate my size. You’ll hop on one, if you can get your leg over one and it’ll feel very different but you’ll get used to it. My 91 klr is my go to bike. Life’s a real bitch when you stand in the garage and have to decide which bike am I riding today ….
Hey...did I hear you say 57 years old? I'm 54. Thanks for a great video. Will be going this week to get my KLR adventure. Thanks again for this information
You do the same, sir. Who knows, maybe just maybe I could make an adventure from Tennessee up your way. Making sure to bring gopro. Haha, that would be fun.
Hi Pat and thanks for joining the crazy. I will tell you that this is a tall bike. I am 6 foot three and I actually mount the bike from the pegs. That said they now make a KLRS model that I think would be perfect for you
Just picked mine up last night..I am 60 and am looking forward to the Adventure,.

Went from a c14 to a verseys 650 to klr 2023 adventure completely different kind of riding, absolutely love it 👍🏽

For sure I I ride with friends a ton on my street bikes and we use Cardo head sets
@@bodeanaventures it's good to hear your enthusiasm and the way you're enjoying the bike. We are similar ages.
Interesting. We are the same age and both have two street bikes and now the KLR. Great video.
0:22 1) %100 agree, I’m always looking for place to just explore!!! The riding style is so different once you get off pavement, you’re not just riding, you’re immersed….
Agree with every thing you said, an adventure bike will make you a better street rider too!
great point

and now you are a pro
i took a gen 2 cross country.. sold it but i miss it.. this gen 3 is so tempting
such a good value at the price
Incredible sales on new ones right now..end of the year thing

thanks Scott and I keep finding new places to ride
6:20 5) The absolute best reason to own an ADV bike!!! For me this has a 5A= it makes me feel younger, more “adventurous!!!”
amen

I like riding there
@bodeanaventures if you're ever up for some country dirt riding, I'm out in Stockbridge. Tons of backroads between here and Pinckney.
Like a lot of us, I have had lots of bikes over the years. I had a 2015 Gen2 KLR. Just purchased a 23' KLR s (Short) Fire road exploring is the most off road I will ever do. Love the bike. Cheers.
Congrats on the new bike! Been fun finding places I would have never gotten too.
All roads lead somewhere. The best places to see takes a backroad to get there
yeah buddy!!!!! adv bikes go everywhere! need to get REMOTE! gets even better !
not necessarily for me there my friend but you rock it
You're right I find the other day big lake in the middle the nowhere, only access with motorcycle narrow passes, there are many hidden places like this down here in Naples Fl. Thanks for the video real good.
thanks man and so much more to explore

I need to ride a Spyder, love it?
I have a green 23 I'm putting the thermal bulb on it

Although some great riding around here in Tennessee. Great video's by the way.
is that your klr for sale @capitolhd in lansing? what happened?
It is and just went down to two bikes. May get another adventure bike and should have kept it!
They have the s now, I wanna test drive it.
I heard good things
There is something about the KLR 650!. I can't tell what it is.
3:11 3)😂😂😂😂
Hey man, new subscriber here....I'm thinking about getting a KLR but I'm 5'6"...is this gonna be an issue?
Hi Pat and thanks for joining the crazy. I will tell you that this is a tall bike. I am 6 foot three and I actually mount the bike from the pegs. That said they now make a KLRS model that I think would be perfect for you
@@bodeanaventures I did not know that... appreciate it! I have some time to research it as I live in upstate NY 😄
If you're 5ft.6 get the s for short model !!!
🇺🇸🇺🇸👋😎 Hey Bob
yo Flip
I can't get past the 1980's front end. Needs a refresh worse than the Dallas Cowboys ownership.
Adventure motorcycles larger price doesn’t mean bigger fun. I’m finding my CRF300 is far more fun than my Pan Am.
can't wait to hear more as you ride it
I bought one. Looking forward to discover places street bikes wont take me. Took all pointers from your video. Thanks🫡
appreciate that and I have a lot to learn too!
