Thank you. this is one of the very few useful videos in youtube about the Phoenix Odin II. Most of them show you how to unbox the kit, which I can figure out myself. More useful would be to show you how to USE it. Its a complex unit with a heap of settings buried in menus. An extended video going thru the settings would be much appreciated. To add to the complexity, it seems to work differently depending on what flash your coupling it with.
Your presentation is extremely informative and the manner in which you present is very down-to-earth, almost like you were sitting down over a cup of coffee and discussing this. I look forward to your future presentations. I am bought into the phottix system, but I worry about the color / Kelvin consistency of the indra500, even with their 1.07 upgrade.
Thank you Michael; i am glad that you enjoyed it. I too am concerned about the color consistency of the Phottix Indra 500, I will be doing an update very soon. I found it interesting that the Indra 360 doesn't seem to have the same consistency issues.
I'm also going to do a test using a color chart with both the indra360 and the indra500. Just guessing that the color issue with the 500 only has to do with different strobe tubes, but I don't know that, just speculation.
I just did a test using the Indra 500 (with latest firmware) and Odin II and got a much more acceptable level of color variation. I will be making a follow-up video soon.
great vids Jeremy..so which is your prefered system for studio and location shoots? B1 or indra500? do youthink the quality of the indra light is as good as profoto? cause considering indra a fair bit cheaper? not to mention you hve to buy 2 speedring adapters plus ocf modifiers. .all $$$$
There will be plenty of time in a future videos; I will probably make a separate videos. One for Profoto and one for the Odin/Indra; I have a few unanswered questions about the Indra/Odin setup that have to be sorted first...
I really like the new photix transmitter. Its easy to access all the groups. I'm still waiting for a profoto air transmitter for Sony A7 system so I can get the B1. Am I going to wait forever?
Jermey Smith, do you know if the Odin II will be fully compatible with Interfit S1, Godox AD600 and Profoto B1? Or do you know which transmitter that will work across with other brand flashes/lights? Not by basic tethered or radio sync, but true radio TTL/manual adjustable flashes.
Hey Jeremy, great video! Question for you, is it possible to disable a whole group from the Odin II? With the Strato II, there are buttons to quickly turn groups on and off on the fly. Sometimes I like to light wedding receptions with 3 or 4 flashes and depending on where I'm standing in the room, I don't want them all firing. So I want to be able to toggle the groups quickly. Thanks!
Yes you can...at 16:20 I select the group and then hit the mode button to switch a group to manual. If you press the mode button one additional time the group will be deactivated.
Reginald Walton You would still need to get an Odin transmitter also since the Canon and Phottix Odin systems don't communicate with each other. Phottix does make the Laso system that is compatible with Canon's RT wireless system though.
Hello Jeremy, I was wondering, over a year later do you still love the Phottix Odin II? I'm thinking about buying this system to trigger three Nikon flashes (one 800 and two 700s).
Yes it still continues to be a very valuable tool for the times when I use speedlights. For most things though I do find I use the Profoto system more these days.
Is there a special setting i have to set in the Odin II to be able to make changes to the Mitros + flash? I'm currently having a problem not being able to change power outputs/ modes via Odin II.
Thank you for making video I love my Indra.....although I'm realizing if I am to get two more lights I will be going deep into the pockets😳 i am currently kicking around the thought of investing the n the xplor system ...I would love for u to shed some light (no pun intended) on this system if u would be so kind
Alex, I too am looking at the xplor system, even though I'm heavily invested into the phottix system. It's the color issue with the indra500 that is disturbing me, so I'm looking at the Xplor system from Adorama.
ne question I have. Is the Indra (or Mitros+ if you have one) doing a pre flash when triggered from Odin II even if in Manual mode ? I don’t have a unit to test, but I read it is doing preflash regardless of mode it is in, even in manual mode. Can you confirm?
One of my Mitros plus flashes is not showing my digital ID and won’t fire using the Odin II. My three other Mitros Plus flashes, no problems. Any advice?
Hi jeremy, I have a question, i am using phottix mitro+, i am not able to reduce the power of the flash from trigger. Could you please help me with that
No...the HSS will not work with Alienbees however you could use the ODS (overdrive sync) setting. This is basically hypersync...you would be limited to using your flash at full power though.
Pierre Conley, what reduction camera brand are you using? You really don't need to use anything special to get normal flash sync to 2000 with any flash /or monolight with this once nice camera built by ATG/Sony. It means you can park even ATG's Vivitar 285HV or ATG's Metz 60CT-4 to get sync speed beyond 200. I would think Jeremy Smith and his friends would know the answer or know the camera. Hints: * Has ATG/Zeiss T* 24-120/2.0-2.8 (very rare, frozen/weather/dust sealed) * Zeiss T* 24-120/2.8-4.8 * Stealth shutter * Wireless /or tethered Live-view to monitor * Optics is better than Canon's L and Nikon's G * No where you are going to get a zoom from 24-120mm at 2.0-2.8 * Normal flash sync speed is 2000 (1/2,000) * Flash sync that is much higher than Canon EOS-1D C and Nikon D5 * Anti-dust on sensor So which camera was this that even got Nikon upset?
At time 2:55 - 3:10 How to control INDRA? But not from ODIN! out... Of course that doesn't work. From ODIN I you can only trigger the INDRA Blitz and that's it. Thus the INDRA cannot be controlled from ODIN I. The control of the INDRA only refers to ODIN II. Only ODIN II can control INDRA. 😊 greeting
Nope.. you can use the Odin I to control the Indra as well, when I was using this system back in these days I primarily used the original Odin with my Indra's. By the time the Odin II was introduced I moved to a new lighting system. 😃
@@JeremySmithPhotography How did you do that? You might want to define: what does controlling INDRA mean to you? I have both Phottix ODIN I and ODIN II and several Phottix INDRA 500TTL. And on ODIN I tried all possible firmwares... Odin I I can only trigger the photo on INDRA, but nothing control. that means nothing can be set in INDRA from ODIN I. Everything on the INDRA can be controlled via ODIN II. For example, control the exposure manually. The ODIN I on INDRA can only trigger lightning. No steering or any control of the INDRA. greeting

+Jeremy Smith - Great news about the indra500 + odin 2 and color. my test will be Thursday. tell me your procedure
as always bro, great video review. I love your opening splash of your company name! I'm looking forward to your Sony Odin II review.
Great review. It answered a lot of my questions. Thanks.
Frank Hernandez awesome, I am glad you found it helpful!

Very educational! thank you!

I wish you could have showed these items in action.

From what I hear your wait will soon be ending ;)
yessss I hope you're right! Am I allowed to hear what you heard or is this an NDA thing? lol
Andy Tu I haven't heard anything official but I expect to see an announcement at Photokina in September.
Great video. I am using Profoto D1 Air and Leica M. Will this transmitter works fine?
Thanks
GREAT JOB!!! IM GONNA BUY ONE RIGHT NOW FOR MY NIKON D-800...
great informative videos.....
it's ordered...also ordered two receivers and the indra 500ttl....

Not by basic tethered or radio sync, but true radio TTL/manual adjustable flashes.
Odin II also controls the Lumopro LP180R speedlight.

Thanks for the info...I might have to see if I can get my hands on that speedlight :)

Jeremy Smith woops, I missed that. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Great video (besides the Canon joke) lol. If I want to use this with my Canon 600 EX-RT, do I just need to get the Phottix receiver?
Reginald Walton You would still need to get an Odin transmitter also since the Canon and Phottix Odin systems don't communicate with each other. Phottix does make the Laso system that is compatible with Canon's RT wireless system though.

I subbed! I liked your videos.
Actually I lost my Profoto Air Remote and looking for a good transmitter with my strobes and Leica?
Look for a Godox or any basic radio trigger would work.
You will not be able to control wireless power.
I heard in Odin you can get TTL settings for a channel and switch it to manual if you choose to, is that true?
Do you mean group? If so yes you can toggle a group between manual and TTL, you can even have some groups set to TTL while others are set to manual.
Hi jeremy,
I have a question, i am using phottix mitro+, i am not able to reduce the power of the flash from trigger. Could you please help me with that
Vasudevan Vijayan what mode is your flash set on?
