Well at the time, being in Buffalo wasn't much better lol. And I am an upstate NY Bill's fan. I'll be the first to admit, it is absolutely miserable to live here in the winter. One of THE biggest reasons that we have such a difficult time getting free agents is the weather and the smaller city compared to places like LA, NY, Vegas, and so on. Everything has changed though, solely because of Josh Allen and the success he has brought back here that we haven't seen since our Jim Kelly days (don't remind me about our 4 Superbowl losses 😔). I have a feeling that Josh is going to be the one to FINALLY bring a Lombardi to Buffalo. I dream about that parade...
I live in buffalo. Allen’s impact on this franchise and this city cannot be overstated! We had 17 years straight of not even making the playoffs or barely even having years in the hunt. It was a constant cycle of new coaching staff every 3 years and everybody trashing on buffalo. As well as patriots domination. But the bills mafia stayed true and faithful. Josh and Sean McDermott, took us to the playoffs every year since his rookie year. 5 straight division titles. And free agents want to play here, it’s a destination spot now for players who want to win. He personifies the attitude and personality of this city more than any other qb ever. Jim Kelly is a hall of famer but even he wasn’t as loved and accepted as Josh has been here in buffalo. He’s a special talent to watch, you look at him and it’s hard to not think “wow this is history we’re watching here”. But yet he still has an incredibly humble team first attitude. And lifts the city up publicly in a way that makes us feel like we matter and are on the map. If Allen wins a Super Bowl for buffalo, he could run for mayor here.
I’m a bills fan and I remember going to the 2018 week 3 game where he did his first hurdle and balled out. Still had a pretty bad rookie season but you could just tell when watching him play that he had “it”
Allen wasn't an elite QB in college. He had amazing traits, but hadn't put it all together yet. The real question is why Lamar wasn't #1 overall. Granted he had some concerns of his own, but he was way better than Allen in college and had proven a lot more as a player.

All too often nowadays teams draft a QB and give up on them way too soon, or they don't have consistency at coaching. Josh Allen started his career with Sean McDermott, who is still his HC to this day. He had consistency in Daboll at OC. Had Josh Allen not been drafted by the Bills, there's a good chance he isn't the QB he is today. Sometimes players just get drafted to the perfect place at perfect time
I agree with most of what you said, but disagree on the fact that Josh wouldn't be who he is today, had he gone to the Browns... Josh has two things you cannot couch.. Work ethic and desire. He's the same kid who, when not even looked at by scouts... Got himself seen.. But when he noticed he needed refinement, he sought out Jordan Palmer to fix his mechanics. It's why when season 3 started (and the addition of Diggs) his ability as a passer sky rocketed to another level. Josh wants to be great... He works hard to be great.
Crazy that my second older brother told me that Josh Allen lived 2 hours away from Fresno. He told me that he was planning to play for Fresno State, but they didn't want him since they had already recruited another QB. Can't imagine Josh Allen playing for Fresno State Bulldog and seeing how much will do for that team, city, and program too
Brian Hill..Wyoming all time leading rusher. 4400 yrds,Logan Wilson, went to Cinn,Gunderson,DE,Saints The center for Washington,I think we had 14 drafted in those yrs
I remember this class VERY differently. Baker was a walk on. It was a surprise when Browns took him 1st. Consensus was Darnold, he was the most touted QB of the group and the only one that was even close to as touted was Rosen. Allen was seen as a high potential guy...I personally watched him throw a 70-80 yard bomb at the combine. With that being said, hindsight is always 20/20. So of course now we say Allen should've went 1st.
Wyoming had 6 guys in the NFL from the 2016 season. I think Josh is the only one left from the offensive side of the ball of that team. That team had some dudes.
He was not good and he played in wyoming but being a bad qb in college it doesn't mean that you are going to be bad in the nfl, josh allen was easily the most completed qb in the class and his playing style was good and easily translated to the nfl
NFL scouting departments being an absolute disaster, that’s why. Browns had Allen and Quenton Nelson right there in front of them and took neither….great job fellas 👍
Yeah I always get annoyed when pundits used the fact that he played poorly vs good teams against him… even the best QBs in the world need players to throw the ball to, right? And if you’re playing w subpar receivers who are getting covered by elite DBs, honestly, wtf do they expect him to do if his receivers keep getting blanketed by more talented players?!! Josh still elevated the entire team w the same jaw dropping plays we’ve seen him make in the NFL. Are they insinuating that if Mahomes played in the exact same situation w the same players he’d have somehow dominated much better teams? It’s just such a bullshit, unfair take and I’m glad to finally hear someone call it out. I am a Bills fan so perhaps I’m a bit bias, but sports media treats Josh so unfairly compared to other QBs imo. And I’m sorry if it seems like I’m being disrespectful to other QBs, but I’m only trying to point out the hypocrisy of sports media. Josh plays amazing in the playoffs overall, he literally holds the NFL record for best QB performance in a single post season ever, and his TD/INT ratio is impressive af! Yet somehow HE’s straddled w the narrative that he can’t win or beat Mahomes in the playoffs, when last DIV game came down to a missed FG w literally HALF of our starting defense missing, and the divisional match before that he literally handed his team the lead w 13 secs left and was forced to watch his coaches & defense piss his heroics away - and he’s beat KC 4 yrs in a row in reg szn now, 3 of which were in KC, so this idea that he just can’t do it is so unfair its infuriating! I’m sorry, but KC’s a very good team with better coaches and a generational QB - there will be no Mahomes slander from me, he’s an amazing player. Meanwhile, Lamar’s only won 2 playoff games in 6 seasons & actually DOES struggle in the playoffs, and has more INTs than TD’s, and the media completely gives him a pass… I’m sorry, but I’m just being honest. And I’m not saying the media should bash him, but nobody can tell me they aren’t more critical of Josh than him. Same goes for injuries with Burrow… Josh played through a torn UCL in his throwing elbow in ‘22, and an injured throwing shoulder from week 6 onward last year - both injuries that literally forced him to change his throwing mechanics to compensate - and the media cut him ZERO slack cuz he never once complained about any injury or insinuated it effected his play, tho his coaches repeatedly told the media it did if asked. Meanwhile, Burrow pulls a calf muscle the first day of training camp in July ‘22, and after he played bad the first 4 games of the season, the media was voluntarily like ‘clearly the muscle he pulled 4 mos ago is effecting his play’ 🙄 like RUFKM?! Which again, I’m only pointing out to highlight the hypocrisy. Just be consistent and fair! Either criticize all QBs the same, or criticize none, but I’m so sick of Josh being treated like sh*t. I wish he’d stop giving those clown networks interviews and solely award local and independent sports channels & journalists… those national dbags don’t even deserve his time.
Only Tanner Gentry made an NFL team from the 2016 Wyoming Cowboys… he had 3 receptions for 35 in 2017 for the Bears… then he got action WITH JOSH in 2022 in ONE game and had one target that he didn’t pull in 😂 so Josh obviously was surrounded by top tier talent obviously 😅
In what way has Lamar had a better career? More DEI MVPs? He doesn't have a single season over 4k passing yards. Dude is the definition of a QB who is more show than go.
