Thanks TH-cam for the recommendation, this was a fascinating video For some context on how amateurish some of these dances are, it's because everyone in-universe are amateurs lol Especifically for Persona 4 Dancing, the characters only had around one month of practice before doing all of this dancing, cut them some slack For the other two, the characters are in some dream-like world where they can dance to relax from the story of their original games, so all of them had no experience whatsoever before that The dances in all 3 games use motion capture, so I would guess that the devs just said to the dancers that they should hold down on the advanced techniques because of the context Hearing the input of someone who isn't familliar with the series was fascinating, I'll definetly keep an eye out for your channel
That's quite possible. It probably would be unnecessary to employ a choreographer to put extra time and effort for their absolute best work for something that will be motion captured anyway and put in the background of a rhythm game too.
all the dances are done by real dancers, captured and fitted into digital skeletons, so yea there are some weird motions. the dances reflects the personalities of the characters from their games almost none of them the characters have any dance training hence their dance are amateurish with just a tad of training there is a section in the menus of each game that shows you how to replicate the dances
After Crystaahhl did a tier list, I was looking forward to this 3:00 Wow So for someone who actually dances this is easy Okay, my uncoordinated brain could never, but this is interesting info Okay so fun fact, he literally learned to dance in what, 3 months? So you're kinda spot on Oh god. I forgot about the swords
damn, why do some professionals always have to act elitist on dance moves, like okay it's simple for some but hey it's grovey and fun so why always searching for complexity where it can be aesthetic and a nice choregraphy to learn... Specialist is okay people
Because it's a game about dancing lol, advertised on it's dancing and remixes, where it's core gameplay is dancing. It's not being elitist for people who exist in that world to critique something that's trying to come into that world and is using that world as a point of advertisement. Soldiers make fun of call of duty and stuff like that all the time. Just because something is designed for laymen doesnt mean the profesionals are elitest for expecting that media in their line of profession should reflect some of the realities of that proffesion. Like correct form or a silencer going "pew"
@@CandBExtra except a game doesn't need to conform to realistic expectation because it's a game and they can take liberties with the material and this isn't like Cod with hard coded expectation because dancing is a creative inquiry and so disco moves are not not less good than expressive ballet just because you like it better
@@mintmaddie3963 That's why the focus of the video is a dancer's perspective on the choreography not a game review. I 100% agree with you that dancing is subjective, in that way there is no 'bad dancing'. However the point of the video is to place these routines in a professional context and see how they hold up. If anything I was surprised how much technique was involved in some of the routines
Really interesting video! The specialist btw is the tutorial song, which could explain why the dance was so basic
Ahhh that's possible

That's cool! I like the idea that people could learn the routines themselves after playing the game
I wish there was more of this but i love the Morgana representation
