Very timely. I've been dealing with Frozen shoulder since August. It apparently has a very long recovery time.

Unfortunately, it can take a long time to recover, but physical therapy can help speed up the recovery and reduce pain. Good luck!

I hadn't realised how painful a ' frozen 'shoulder was .I was playing water volleyball and hit the ball so hard something hurt !! I visited a physio who suggested many exercises ( The gravity one DR Jo shows was one of the early one ) I researched & found their are 3 phases . #painful #stiffness #recovery .The gravity exercise helped when it was sore as did lifting the affected arm slightly using the other arm to support it .As I progressed to the stiffness stage I was shown how to move my arms up &down a kitchen cupboard. Admittedly this took a few months but I'm convinced thes helped speed up the recovery stage

I had breast cancer and the cancer itself killed a bunch of Nerve Cells in my body.. this was way before I started my Chemo treatments. The reason why i am explaining this in the beginning is because both of my Scapula's in my back got damaged & it caused my arms not to raise over my head. I don't know if you can help me with that situation?? I will try this exercise for a frozen arm but i am not sure even if that will help???? Thanks for this video

Hi dr Jo I enjoy your videos so very helpful and useful I love my doggies too✌❤🐕🐶
I had a rotator cuff tear repaired, but this dr cut part of the labrum off the right collarbone sticks out by my neck and the shoulder hangs lower than the left shoulder, I had a rollover accident in my bronco in 99' my left arm went out the window and the bronco rolled over it a couple times coming to rest upside down with my arm pinned under the truck an onlooker said he saw me climb out of the 79 bronco and lift it pulling my arm free but it was really bad compound fractures in the forearm, the wrist and hand was crushed and the insides squished out the outside edge of the hand, they were going to amputate but my beloved Susana said "no dont amputate, just fix it up best you can, and he will deal with it" I did and have most of the feeling and some use of the appendage but there is alot of pain and I get infections around the old hardware, anyway that's nothing compared to other owies that I collected thru my soon to be 59 years I've had C5,6 and 7th vertebra fused together with a titanium cage around it,I cannot remember the name of the procedure but now I have alot of nerve pain in my neck face arms and hands, the drs was talking about traction but we never did it because of covid and I have lower back pain HI joint pain tailbone pain right hip is inflamed they dont know why but it's been that way for a long time since 2005 when dropped my TT500 Yamaha dirt bike on that side the bike weighs around 300 lbs and I landed right on that hip plus I've had 4 left knee surgeries including the acl reconstruction plus I had an emergency abdominal surgery consisting of 7 different procedures performed all at once, my dr said I was a mess inside he said I was his miracle patient that was about six years ago now I'm having problems with the GI system again as well, so I've changed my diet drastically and have no vices I try to exercise but the pain makes me stop and start over alot, also I'm on oxygen around 2.5 litres per hr now from 5 L per hour in may...
So I'm sorry too bend your ear so hard but I'm just at my wits end waiting for apts then not getting the treatment I need then waiting and waiting and then i am on dissability only, trying to survive I cant afford dr co pays anymore I'm at the end of my rope so now I will try to do these various exercise videos you have made, and try to make it til the apts time, most times they are 3-4 months out here in reno, there are not enough drs here🙁...thank you very much and give the pups hugs and kisses✌❤

You're welcome, and the pups say, woof (hi) 🐾 Sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Has anyone ever mentioned aquatic therapy? Not swimming, but exercising in the pool. It often can be very beneficial for people who have a lot of pain/difficulty with traditional land exercises. The buoyancy of the water helps take away the impact that often causes the pain. Many physical therapy clinics now have true therapy pools that are about 88-90 degrees, so the warm water also helps. But even a community pool with aquatic arthritis classes can often help people get moving again. Definitely worth talking with your doctor about it. I hope you start getting some relief soon.

Thanks, and you're welcome! It really just depends on how long you've had it and how your body reacts to the treatment.

Hey Dr. Jo, I pulled my hamstring 7-9 months ago and the pain has barely gotten better over the entire 7-9 month time period. I first had a very light pull that I decided to keep playing until it got so bad that I couldn't play on it. I have rested it and used it lightly and it has not gotten better. Do you have any advice?

  • @wagtunes9

Doctor Jo, do you know if aerobics that get oxygen flowing, like riding a bike, help tendon injury recovery in unrelated parts of the body, like shoulder tendonitus? I"ve tried searching for info, but the searches only come up with results related to "working" the injured area. I know blood flow is important, but does any activity that gets you winded enable tendon healing recovery by raising the metabolism, etc?

For some reason, the CC subtitles are not displaying what Dr Jo is saying. Is it possible to fix that?

@@AskDoctorJo They’re showing up, but for some reason the CC subtitles displayed are not the same things you’re saying Doc. The subtitles displayed in the screen are the things you will be taking about about 3 to 4 seconds later. That’s the issue.
