I tried this with left over scraps and I loved it, now I am thinking on making something bigger that a hot pad for the table….thank you so much for such a great idea!

Your video is very informative. I really wanted to know how to do the nine pack but might I suggest in the future no music it makes it hard to hear you press old folks congratulations I’m being so creative thank you
Thanks for watching! The pattern is in my Ten Quilts for Ten Sisters book available on tensisters.com. Check out the Gallery pages to see all the fun quilts!
Good Morning, I've got a question.. when setting up the the patches this way.. alternating with the solid blocks... Do you ALSO put interfacing on the back of the solid blocks? So they are balanced weight & stability wise when piecing your quilt top together as the nine patches are.. just wondering. I'm relatively new at the quilting thing... Other than doing applique blankets (which I fell in Love with this technique). My mom always wanted me to catch the "Quilting Bug".. but I never got into it so much when she was still here. Instead I would sew everything else.. clothing, alterations, household things, stuffed animals, etc. etc. So she'd be very Proud that I'm now also adding quilting to my long list of creative things I make & do. =) I'm so Happy I found your TH-cam channel.. your helping me learn more than the basics that I learned from my mom patiently trying to get me to quilt with her. Thank You. - Ruth S.
Hi Ruth-thanks for watching! When I use solid fabric blocks with blocks pieced on the grid I don't stabilize the fabric. Same goes when I piece a whole quilt top and add borders. When you put it all together and quilt it, you can barely tell the difference. So glad you're getting the quilting bug!
Hi Sheila. Thanks for watching! You are correct, your plain square between each nine patch will be 6 1/2". Seam allowances can differ, so I always measure my nine patches before cutting the plain blocks. Happy sewing!
I first learned this piecing technique from Paula Doyle, who published Mini-Mosaic Quilts: 30+ Block Designs in 2012. Her blocks are complex and use several different types of block units. She has several TH-cam videos.
Hi Lisa. Thanks for watching-- it may be! Joan has some great techniques. EasyPiecing Grid is printed by us and has a few unique features. The squares are printed slightly larger that your cut size to give you room to fold is probably the best one. Check out tensisters.com for more videos and lots of free patterns!
Hi Jeanette- The pattern is called Mosaic and is in my Ten Quilts for Tensisters book. It is designed to be pieced on EasyPiecing Grid, though you can also piece it traditionally! The one in the video uses 20 panels of 1.5" finished Grid. Here's the link to tensisters.com www.tensisters.com/shop/ Thanks for watching!

When I make the 9 patch with a bigger square between each 9 patch. What is the cutting size of the bigger block? 6-1/2”

Isn't this the same technique and type of panels that Joan Ford brought out maybe 10 years ago? I have some on hand that are mini's -
