Having spent the last 20 years in the Architecture industry, my opinion on the vapor barrier is to view it how we would design a building. Typically, the moisture is trying to move from the hot face to the cool face, so it depends on the temp difference between the inside of your van and the outside. We typically place a moisture barrier on a building in a manner that keep the moisture out of a building. You've probably seen "building wrap" placed on the outside of the building, because the hot outside air is trying to condense on the cool building wall.
Being in the UK, I'm gonna guess that for the bulk of the year the inside of your van is gonna be warmer than the outside, which means the vapor theoretically should condense on the inside of that barrier because in your case, the hot air (and it's vapor) is going to be trying to get out of the van..
That being said, honestly I'd have to see what happens to really know how this is gonna work. 🤷

Getting there, can’t wait to see the inside get kitted out

I'm on the side of the fence of a vapour barrier, you've got fans right! Plus any moisture that does collect on the panel side should hopefully condense down to your sill area, where you have drainage plugs or holes.

Great job so far Matt. I don’t believe that you will ever have to lose sleep over installing that vapor barrier unless you move to the Antarctic. Maybe a buddy with a 3-D printer can provide you with a custom shell that can act as an awning over your exterior door handle to keep out water intrusion?

Did you consider spraying on closed-cell insulation Matt?

Adding the kilmat isnt that much weight for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton van.. i think each box of kilmat is about 25lbs or so.. i dont foresee more than 3 boxes needed to cover the whole van. Maybe 100lbs..? Well worth it imo.

The sound deadening panels could also be much smaller than they are. Each could have been half it's size

For having made a first crack at a project that he is basically inexperienced in he did outstanding. He even mentioned that he over did it in the opening of his video.

Yes, I agree. Then I gave some advice for the next project. 🤷

Might be just me but looking at all these videos in such a short time makes the background music reaaally repetitive, i find myself getting a bit annoyed by it even 😂
    Great vid nonetheless!! 🚀🚀
