Superb series! Enjoyed every step of the way! Interesting to get your take on the B500. I planned to include it on my tour next year but have heard from various sources that the “fun Police” had strangled it somewhat! Perhaps I’ll stick to the roads on the periphery and those in the Vosges Mountains instead?

We are so lucky to have so many fabulous European countries on our motorbiking doorstep…..France, Italy and especially Switzerland are a real joy to explore on two wheels.
My wife and I kept a ‘95 Wing at our place in the south of France and regularly rode some of the routes in this series.
We even had our honeymoon in 2004 on the wing. We rode from St Tropez to the Gorge du Verdon, then onto part of the Route du Grande Alps up to Briancon and onto Stresa on Lake Maggiore where we then based ourselves for a week. We explored the whole of the lake on the bike and up to Ascona and Locarno at the Swiss top end and we also rode the Simpson pass later on in the trip.
Then we headed south to Portofino on the Italian riviera, to Monte Carlo and then back to St Tropez.
It was a fabulous 18 days, we only had one day of rain, that was in Stresa where we saw rain of biblical proportions and thankfully weren’t actually on the bike, we did get to utilise our wet weather gear to go out for lunch !
I have a trip with some mates next May taking in some WW2 sites in France, Belgium and Luxembourg and then a tour taking in the coastal route around Brittany (they have some 1,700 miles of it).
Wonderful scenery, great road surfaces and far less traffic than in the UK is a big draw, not to mention the architecture, food, wine, beer and people. Riding in Europe is always a pleasure.

There's a good balance between on-bike and off-bike clips with useful information on many aspects of the tour including the route, the bike, the hotels, and logistics of putting it all together. Can't understand why the tours aren't the most popular videos. I've enjoyed every bit of it. On long trips I've been a planner while leaving enough room to diverge from my initial plan. Going for the somewhat more affordable and still safe accommodations, I've seen sights that only the locals know about. Enjoyed the entire trip. Glad you ommitted the rain portion. 👍👍

Totally loved this series from start to finish. It's clear that it has been a wonderful experience for you both, and thank you for sharing via your weekly video postcard. As mentioned by others, Carol's thoughts and input along the way has certainly added to the experience for us. Similar to yourselves, we have found that having an extended travel period with a bike certainly helps you to bond with it in a way that a weekend trip doesn't quite manage. Have a video of my mate (camera man) and me nailing the B500 back in 2012 on a Blackbird and 1200vfr respectively , often rewatch with nostalgia, great 30minutes . Went back 2yrs later to draconian speed limits and heavy traffic! Just proves you can never relive a moment. Great to see so many places in your tour that i visited over the years on a bike. Thanks.

We’ve had a fairly dry week (it was about time) until today but it was bloody cold (1-4°C) and windy.
I had an ultrasound examination of my shoulder; results next week.

Really good series. Enjoyed the ride along very much. Great roads, great hotels, great motorcycle, great scenery. What's not to like. even the prices weren't all that bad considering where you were and how often one gets to see places like that. Very fair summary. Given the end of the season before the ski sliders come along a really good time to Wing It. That always plays into what kind of trip and arraignments one needs to make where ever you go. There's times in the states it pays to stay home and wait. Oddly the road you waited to ride was one of the least interesting. Traffic, deaths accidents and tourists mixed in all play into the speed limits. So given that take alternative routes which are not highlighted as the road to be on and enjoy the ride. Excellent slide show at end. Spectacular trip.

Loved the winging it tour. I just love travelling....not the getting there, the process of travelling, and I don't think there has been anywhere on the tour that I haven't been, all be it by car....but still loved it. Just makes me want to get out there.....great stuff guys...😊 😊 😊

Well, another amazing trip comes to an end. Thank you so much for 'taking us' with you both. I thought the whole trip looked amazing, best part for me was Gorge du Verdon, that just looked superb. I always did my European trips, adhoc, but with certain places I would heac to, for perhaps 2 days. I never toured in main summer months though, for the exact reasons you explained, cost, availability of decent hotels with secure parking etc. All my European trips would be solo, which didn't bother me because I'd park up, refresh, and within 2 hrs chatting with fellow bikers or locals which I loved. Can't wait for more like this. Thank you once again.

Great tour and we were lucky with the Black Forest B500….pre-30 zones, great visibility and quiet roads. Thoroughly enjoyed watching your tour and post tour thoughts. Technical gear is great. Aiming for 150 miles a day is our ideal - relaxed, allows for interesting diversions/explorations, and you arrive with time to explore your destination - if it’s interesting we sometimes stay two nights.

I bet I'm not the only one who is sad to know that Saturday mornings will not be quite the same - until the next one of course (the fingers are firmly crossed for you!)
Once I have my full licence I definitely have this sort of trip on my 'to-do' list.
Like Mrs Flyer, I'm also a planner - sometimes to the nth degree, but if I can convince myself that a day in advance is long enough, then I'm excited to try a similar trip. It won't be a 'Winging It' tour - maybe a 'Tri It' tour - we'll have to see what the size of budget the accountant (Mrs) will allow.

Nice job, being down under what you are able to do in a week is just a dream. Just to get to Europe and back starts at 5k and takes a week just for the travel, then you have to hire someone else’s bike borrow someone’s else’s gear or try to get all your own on an airline. So it’s nice to tour vicariously through your adventure. I particularly liked the “this is how we did it segments”. Thanks.
