@Sofia Kaye I don't think they made Dean homophobic, they just wrote him out of character towards literally everyone (Cas included.) I think at first Dean didn't process what Cas was saying to him (that's actually what Jensen said on it, I believe) and after that the writing just dived and unfortunately the cast didn't have a say in what happened.

Exactly, and as a fellow bisexual who grew up in a fairly homophobic environment and was super closeted as a result of that, Dean's behavior is painfully relatable to me. Like, for years I knew that I found girls attractive, but that didn't mean anything, right? Girls were just beautiful and sexy, that was an objective fact and nothing to do with me. After all, I kept falling for guys like all the other girls did, so obviously I was straight and that was the end of the story, right? 🙄 It took genuinely falling for a girl for my dumb ass to realize that, okay, perhaps I'm not straight after all... So long story short, given Dean's upbringing, it makes perfect sense to me that he would have downplayed his attraction towards men throughout his whole life, just because he has never fallen for one. And then Cas came along and made Dean's life whole lot more confusing :D

Dean is a perfect example of bisexual representation. I am still not out for many reasons...I hoped that if dean finally came out I could do it too but after the finale instead of considering of coming out it pushed me even deeper in the closet. She's basing this entirely on the books, and unless Chuck described Cas as dreamy more than once, that probably wouldn't have been the word that came to mind. The books, however, have Sam and Dean's thoughts written down. So, unless Chuck doesn't have a thesaurus lying around(which, trust me, he totally does), the only reason that Charlie would've described him like that is if *someone* in the books described him like that.

What is really painfull here, is that a show like buffy the vampire slayer ( that was very similar in concept and style , just more...well, teen drama in the beggining). Had a full on WlW relationship going on for several seasons ( and will has have more lesbic relationships after, tho i comsider her bi with a preference because i do think she did love oz too). All with even bed scenes ( tame, but really only buffy herself gets slightly spicer scenes) , in the 90's to early 2000, and in the group of the main protagonists. All of that, for now a show in freaking 2010's, that should be more advanced, to not dare make a character officially bi and have a gay relationship on canon. They really took a step backwards in the world of urban dark fantasy shows.

So their are little scenes in the first season where Xander and Willow both act bisexual but then he eventually decided that Willow will be bi and Xander will be straight.

He was the one who controlled all of the glances and the facial expressions and the small, hidden smiles that the writers wouldn’t allow. Also, on the topic of the line, Castiel had so much self-hatred and pain inside of him that he let it get to his head and convince him that Dean could never return his feelings. Of course Dean had quite a bit of internalised homophobia- due to who he was raised by and how- so he projected these feelings onto those he loved, leading to him fighting with Cas (15x04) and fuelling the idea that he could never love him back. Also this video is perfect, legitimate proof that Dean is bisexual.

Watching Dean on supernatural before I even knew what sexuality was helped me realize that I was, in fact, a bisexual. So they can say what they like, but he inspired many bisexuals like myself to be who they are. Love the bi-erasure by the show btw. It's like the true Bi experience.

Hear me out...for the sake of my sanity, the Purgatory prayer was Dean’s confession (Dean says he has something else to tell Cas and Cas says it’s okay because he heard the prayer. He was going to say “I love you” but Cas stopped him because he didn’t know what to do with that information at the time). Then 15x18 was basically Cas saying “I love you (too)”. Idc what the writers say this is so what happened in my mind. And Dean and Cas are living happily together in heaven rn and everything is okay😭
Also when i rewatched the scene, when Dean tells Cas he needs to tell him something and Cas is like "no I know I got your prayer", dean looks confused, like HE HAD SOMETHING ELSE TO SAYYYYY
@Tauryan Couch I think the main reason they didn't show him was due to Covid casting cuts, otherwise I think we would've gotten more cas screen time given that they had to change the script due to the pandemic I also imagine they are living happily together in heaven though :)
Dean is bi in denial, there were so many hints throughout the seasons, and the bond with cas, like he is always bickering like an old couple,- it’s clearly queerbating that they weren’t more. And those things never happened to Sam, who is often mocked by dean for being gay (it’s mostly joking but still) but Sam is 10 times straighter to me than dean..
I think the actors were pushing as hard as possible near the end for these kinds of things to happen. I mean Jensen was the one to suggest the confession scene (or so I've heard).

Yesterday I went to visit the 7 season and in episode 9, Dean shows his interest in the ranger Rick. First: in the scene where Sam and Dean go to a "hamburger place" to question Rick. Dean looks at him and then the way he hands the card with his (fake agent) number to Rick. Second: When Sam, Bobby and Dean are in the forest, Dean is "excited" that Rick appears when they call him. Then when Rick dies, Dean says "I liked Rick" and Sam and Boddy look at Dean. Third: it turns out that Dean was high, that is, the hamburger he ate had goo, which made him act more sincerely. As Dean himself says later, it was like he didn't care. So to say that he had liked Rick, it was Dean exposing his feelings without shame or fear.

Exactly, and as a fellow bisexual who grew up in a fairly homophobic environment and was super closeted as a result of that, Dean's behavior is painfully relatable to me. Like, for years I knew that I found girls attractive, but that didn't mean anything, right? Girls were just beautiful and sexy, that was an objective fact and nothing to do with me. After all, I kept falling for guys like all the other girls did, so obviously I was straight and that was the end of the story, right? 🙄 It took genuinely falling for a girl for my dumb ass to realize that, okay, perhaps I'm not straight after all...
So long story short, given Dean's upbringing, it makes perfect sense to me that he would have downplayed his attraction towards men throughout his whole life, just because he has never fallen for one. And then Cas came along and made Dean's life whole lot more confusing :D

She's basing this entirely on the books, and unless Chuck described Cas as dreamy more than once, that probably wouldn't have been the word that came to mind. The books, however, have Sam and Dean's thoughts written down. So, unless Chuck doesn't have a thesaurus lying around(which, trust me, he totally does), the only reason that Charlie would've described him like that is if *someone* in the books described him like that.

What is really painfull here, is that a show like buffy the vampire slayer ( that was very similar in concept and style , just more...well, teen drama in the beggining). Had a full on WlW relationship going on for several seasons ( and will has have more lesbic relationships after, tho i comsider her bi with a preference because i do think she did love oz too). All with even bed scenes ( tame, but really only buffy herself gets slightly spicer scenes) , in the 90's to early 2000, and in the group of the main protagonists. All of that, for now a show in freaking 2010's, that should be more advanced, to not dare make a character officially bi and have a gay relationship on canon. They really took a step backwards in the world of urban dark fantasy shows.

So their are little scenes in the first season where Xander and Willow both act bisexual but then he eventually decided that Willow will be bi and Xander will be straight.

He was the one who controlled all of the glances and the facial expressions and the small, hidden smiles that the writers wouldn’t allow. Also, on the topic of the line, Castiel had so much self-hatred and pain inside of him that he let it get to his head and convince him that Dean could never return his feelings. Of course Dean had quite a bit of internalised homophobia- due to who he was raised by and how- so he projected these feelings onto those he loved, leading to him fighting with Cas (15x04) and fuelling the idea that he could never love him back. Also this video is perfect, legitimate proof that Dean is bisexual.

Hear me out...for the sake of my sanity, the Purgatory prayer was Dean’s confession (Dean says he has something else to tell Cas and Cas says it’s okay because he heard the prayer. He was going to say “I love you” but Cas stopped him because he didn’t know what to do with that information at the time). Then 15x18 was basically Cas saying “I love you (too)”.
Idc what the writers say this is so what happened in my mind. And Dean and Cas are living happily together in heaven rn and everything is okay😭

Dean is bi in denial, there were so many hints throughout the seasons, and the bond with cas, like he is always bickering like an old couple,- it’s clearly queerbating that they weren’t more. And those things never happened to Sam, who is often mocked by dean for being gay (it’s mostly joking but still) but Sam is 10 times straighter to me than dean..
I think the actors were pushing as hard as possible near the end for these kinds of things to happen. I mean Jensen was the one to suggest the confession scene (or so I've heard).

At this point the character has taken a life of its own, so whether the writers chose to portray Dean as bi or not is irrelevant, because it happened anyway. He is Disaster/Chaotic Bi Dean and noone can convince me otherwise.

Thanks for this video. I never shipped Destiel or even saw Dean as bi when I watch the show. However, I totally ship them on my TH-cam playlist. I think people don’t necessarily see something until it gets pointed out to them. After 15.18 I started looking and now I see it. Your video is kind of like a tutorial for me 😊. I like the idea of bi Dean. It adds another rich layer to his character. Thanks!!

So watching the show growing up a straight man I never really picked up on all of this, but after watching it makes so much sense, and Castiel's confession of love to Dean at the end is just the icing on the cake
Yesterday I went to visit the 7 season and in episode 9, Dean shows his interest in the ranger Rick. First: in the scene where Sam and Dean go to a "hamburger place" to question Rick. Dean looks at him and then the way he hands the card with his (fake agent) number to Rick. Second: When Sam, Bobby and Dean are in the forest, Dean is "excited" that Rick appears when they call him. Then when Rick dies, Dean says "I liked Rick" and Sam and Boddy look at Dean. Third: it turns out that Dean was high, that is, the hamburger he ate had goo, which made him act more sincerely. As Dean himself says later, it was like he didn't care. So to say that he had liked Rick, it was Dean exposing his feelings without shame or fear.

You know guys people will say that it' s all for jokes, fun and humour....but it hardly ever happens to Sam it's always Dean...and no angel or demon ever joked about Cas being Sam's boyfriend IT IS ALWAYS DEAN
