I can never get over Cas saying "I'm the one that's going to have to watch you murder the world" because he knows that no matter what Dean did while he had the mark, even killing everyone in the world, he could never kill Dean. Cas would watch helplessly as Dean killed everyone. Because he'd never hurt Dean.

Haha! I hear you! I think in the context of that scene, Dean was framed for the death of a reaper. He looked guilty and Hannah and the other Angels said that Dean should be punished. When Cas refused to hurt Dean, he lost Hannah and the Angels who were his army.
Sammy was somewhere else entirely and was not involved in that framing. But yes, it is quite often about Dean when it comes to Cas’ big decisions.

@@JA-yx9mq it most definitely was thought of… some of the writers were pro-destiel in the earlier seasons and purposefully wrote the script that way. as well as castiel’s actor, misha, has on multiple occasions stated that it’s always been canon and real. it isn’t some made up fantasy by fans. we also shouldn’t blame diehard fans of the show for shipping two characters who have been flirting for years. It isn’t their fault the heads of the show queerbaited them for so long. Stop blaming them.

Same. Dean thinks he's gonna die bc of the mark of Cain. And, the case they are working on is sth related to murders happening in a church after the victims confess their sins. So, Dean goes to confess and he ends up talking with the priest and telling him he doesn't wanna die, that he expected to die but now that seems to happen, he doesn't want to die bc he wanna experience new things *wink wink*. Oh, and he previosule told the priest that he has been with a lot of women but he never had something special(? Or something deep with someone and he does want that.

Why the hell would killing Cas hurt more than killing his own god damn brother. that scene did it for me years ago. I didn’t ship destiel at first but I didn’t ignore the subtext either but as the seasons progresses it felt like there was something more. At first it felt more of Cas being in love with Dean but after Deans confession I hoped for Dean to reciprocate somewhat.
