      Honestly that's true for any suburban and rural areas. Which is why people don't rely on police they rely on their guns. Our police response time is a couple hours and if you're lucky after calling them 3-5 times they will come in an hour. You're truly on your own.

      The direction is also great. When the brother is informed of his sibling's death, instead of giving us a close-up of his facial expression or reaction, it cuts to a long and wide of the scenery experiencing a harsh blizzard.
      That not only makes his grief more pronounced and unnerving, as it's left to our imagination how he reacted but conveys the film's core theme: nature can be indifferent to the pain and suffering we experience. Deciding to cut away gives a bleak tone that would've not been conveyed if the director stayed on the subject.

    • @HeliumCarbonated
      @HeliumCarbonated 2 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      @@jasonemanuellee6884 She keeps the gun up, ready, and in front of her the whole time. When she checks her corners, she steps back to reduce the odds of her weapon being grabbed and improve her line of sight. When she fires on the move she's got her eyes open and on target the whole time, and she shoots until the threat is neutralized or as is the case here, her magazine runs empty. When she reloads she has the gun up in front of her in her "working space" where she's able to see, check, and manipulate the weapon without completely taking her eyes off what's in front of her. The reload itself is quick and smooth, indicating she's familiar with the gun and is able to index the magazines into the well and manipulate the weapon with practiced ease.
      When the shooting starts, she mag dumps into the guy. With her ability to see diminished she isn't taking any chances on him still presenting a threat even after he falls backward. It also takes him time to die, which is often the case with pistol caliber wounds. It's easy to kill a man, but it's not always easy to make it happen quickly and cleanly.
      From a cinematic standpoint, it's brutal and gritty. I also love how she checks the hallway and then in the brief second before she advances down it, he appears as if he's a specter. It's a great little "jump scare."
      This is from my admittedly limited training, experience, and conjecture with firearms and handguns.

    i don't know a thing about guns, other than they're a terrible, necessary fact of our lives. but something about the way she carried herself here just struck home for me - i felt i was watching the real deal.
    especially the way she practically empties her clip into the shooter once she has him - the Hollowood oneshot just didn't apply here. i love that. if you were being shot at, wouldn't you want to be sure to kill your attacker? in the heat of combat, you're probably gonna want to make _damn_ sure your enemy's down. a kind shot to the shoulder probably isn't gonna do it.
    that's what i thought, anyway. a really good movie, a really good scene. the ending shootout is kind of hilarious in parts, but this scene to me reeked of authenticity. and i don't know anything about police tactics or firearms. it just had that shine to it. good stuff.

How she looks down the hall and all is clear then goes to clear it and all of a sudden he pops out of nowhere so she panics a bit and just starts firing blindly in his general direction. I didn’t much like the overall plot of this movie, but I have to acknowledge this whole scene is perfection.

    • @JR-ju3kj

      I can see why they would relate to rap, though. Just like the projects are, Indian reservations are some HARD places. A lot of them don't have clean, running water and adequate sanitation. Funny that you should say that the rap music playing in the background sounds so ghetto because as far as I'm concerned, Native reservations are pretty much rural ghettos.

      Because it is not, this film and a follow up NYT article pissed a lot of people off on Wind River Reservation, not the most peaceful reservation around because they badly under fund their police force compared to other reservations but it is not nearly as bad as the media make it out to be, that said there is a huge problem all over the Western US and Canada(worse there) of missing and murdered Native American (First Nations in Canada) women.

    What they say at the end of the movie about Indian women on reservations going missing, and there’s no statistics done on them, that is true. I should know. Born & Raised here in the very NW Part of Montana. Yaak MT. 5 Miles from the Canadian border. Only two stores in our town.
    We have far-far more grizzlies & wolves than we do people. And I am dead seriously serious about that. Anyway, I digressed. I most definitely highly recommend. Everybody reads my comment watch the movie. And also post a comment to me if you feel like it. I do reply to all comments.
