  • Dr. Danielle Brandman serves as the medical director at the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation located within Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. Her specialized focus lies in the management of steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and polycystic liver disease (PLD). Dr. Brandman provides care to individuals at all stages of liver disease, with a particular emphasis on the assessment and treatment of candidates and recipients of liver transplants.
    Dr. Brandman is actively involved in clinical research endeavors in partnership with primary care providers. This collaborative effort aims to identify individuals with MASLD who are at a heightened risk of advanced fibrosis. Additionally, she is involved in innovative models for delivering care to patients with MASLD.
    Her academic journey began with an undergraduate education at Boston University, followed by an MD degree from Rutgers-Newark. During her time at Rutgers-Newark, she was honored with induction into both the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She proceeded to complete her internal medicine residency and fellowships in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). Throughout her gastroenterology fellowship, she pursued a Master’s of Advanced Studies in Clinical Research.
    From 2012 to 2022, Dr. Brandman was a faculty member at UCSF, where she played a prominent role in medical education. Notably, she held the position of Program Director for the ACGME-certified Transplant Hepatology Fellowship. Her contributions extended to overseeing education for residents and fellows in hepatology. In recognition of her exceptional teaching abilities, she was granted the Excellence in Teaching Award by the UCSF Haile T. Debas Academy of Medical Educators in 2015. In 2023, she achieved the distinction of becoming a fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD). Dr. Brandman also holds a position on the editorial board for JAMA Internal Medicine and has participated on committees associated with both the AASLD and the American Gastroenterological Association.
