spinnanz, This old fart dug it! I was at a party one time and some guys were doing little urches with their Harleys. I fired up my GL1200, brought it up to 7k rpm dumped the clutch and stuffed throttle. It smoked rear tire like mad and was doing a slideways down the street. The expression on everybodys face was priceless! Nobody ever told me Goldwings were a pooch after that. lol Abusing dirt bikes for hundreds of hours is good prep for riding street bikes!

i used to want one of the old goldwings from the late 70's early 80's
they were initially developed to be a race bike and a large cc offering to the us and european countries as nothing larger than a 750 was really in the works.
in the 1100cc flavor they could do 13's in the 1/4 mile. striped down to the cafe racer fairings like the race bikes low 13's were possible if the weight of your balls didnt slow you down.
in japan they were used as tow trucks. people created supercharger kits for those things. look up gl1000 supercharged. randakk and octane tube have a good video.
the bike stayed to its roots deep down it just grew with its intended crowd. wider heavier. but most certainly these didnt grow slower. a good rider on one of these things can keep up with most bad riders on fast bikes.

i use to pop weelies on my dads 2003 gl 1800 gold wing in the parking lot just buy smoothley giving it throttle ans smothley letting out the clutch so the rear weel would grab and not burn out.
So when your looking at buying a used Goldwing remember to check the exhaust tips for scrapes because you know when they claim 'never wheelied' it might be bs. Especially if the seller is wearing full leathers.

That's the second Finn I've seen wheelie a big 6 cylinder bike; Arto Nyquist did some stunts on a Z1300 in the 80's. The Goldwing was a bike I didn't think could do that (although it does seem like a passenger was required), good show.

I couldnt understand a word they said but that is cool. Ever since I was younger I wanted to do that to a goldwing. Also I knew those bikes had some power but its a little weird seeing it take off so quick.
