I saw them on this tour and it’s amazing what a difference not having Pat on drums made. The band sounded stiff without Pat. I’ve got no doubts that Matt Starr’s a decent drummer, but he’s no Pat. Pat Torpey was probably one of the most under-rated drummer/singers (they’re a rarity in themselves!). Feel, flair, chops, he had it all and he always had that enormous smile.
Godspeed Mr. Pat Torpey, rest in peace.

Han pasado muchos años desde que vi en VHS a Mr Big en vivo tocando éste tema, todo está obviamente cambiado, ya sin Pat, Erick cantado lo que alcanza, y bueno Billy y Paul de gran nivel aún,..Mr Big for ever mientras yo también me pongo más viejo ajaja pero Alive and Kicking!!

Tempo was sort of fast too. One thing I learned was to listen to the vocalist. It dictated where I placed the tempo.

Giorgio Andrea Baldisserri purtroppo aveva uno stile basato molto su falsetto e cambi di tonalità che ti giuro erano una cosa spettacolare. Nonostante tutto se vengono a Milano li andrei a vedere volentieri. Buona serata. ☺
Marco Reale lo so che era spettacolare, Per questo ho il rammarico! Comunque anch'io andrei di nuovo a vederli, ma solo per un tour di greatest hits, perché sinceramente a me questi nuovi album non dicono molto.
Ho visto Eric con gli Avantasia e da solo in gran forma, non è che per una o due volte che lo si vede giù allora "non c'è la fa più" (non canta tra l'altro mica canzoncine facili eh) tipo Kiske che si era beccato quel brutto virus. Comunque... Vi ricordo che stavano passando un periodo difficile per via della salute di Pat, e in questi casi lo stato d'animo influenza molto.

This is seriously shot terrible. There is nothing worse than quit cuts and close up zooms. The LA Guns show frontier put out was shot awesome. This is terrible. Too bad because I would have bought this is a second because I have all the other Mr. Big Live DVD’s.
Am I the only person that thinks Billy is overplaying as much as he can to show how good he is?
The verses and choruses are basic rock bass player stuff. Billy throws in a few embellishments as befitting an exciting rock show.
qdaveq Yeah but I mean doing pinch harmonics, tapping, and just flat out overplaying in my opinion not only defeats the purpose of a bassist, but just takes away from the song.
Every player should be free to express themselves creatively as they see fit, or as they feel in the moment. The main body of the song is certainly played in a supportive way. I understand your point and the song would certainly work without all that stuff. Billy tends to have a sense of humour about it and has referred to that kind of playing as "nonsense".

Yeah, the voice is a machine that needs well oiled ....and kept in shape ,otherwise you are screwed .
As Roger Daltrey of The Who once said 'Use it or lose it', he is 74 and still sounding great.
Admittedly Mr Big songs are 'up there' range wise, but Eric set the bar, and it is up to him to maintain it.
Btw, I am a 59 year old singer that can still hit the notes from 30 years ago, it's called 'practise'.

ps: I'm a HUGE Mr Big fan since day 1, seen them a zillion times since the early 90's, and am friends and have known Billy (since the 80's in Toronto)
All that said , vocals as you grow older are the hardest to maintain, so I understand his problem, he just has to work a bit harder imo.

Very few male singers can hit the high notes from their prime when they're well into middle age. Mickey Thomas (Starship) is an exception but think of Robert Plant, Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, Steve Perry, Bobby Kimball and Joe Elliott - they all lost the top end and had to find ways to compensate. Freddie Mercury was doing that when Queen were at the peak of their career! At least Eric Martin isn't reaching for notes he might not get! His voice is still rich, powerful and emotive, it just doesn't have the range it once did.
Was a fav band of mine back in the day.. but i think singer is struggling here... maybe will get them vocal cords loosened up again after a lil bit..
