    Extraordinario! Felicitaciones! Fantastic! You are an excellent teacher. Please keep making this kind of videos. I always thought about how to put together all the HSK words to make phrases with sense in chinese that sounds natural. This is the first time after a lot that I can find something exactly as I need. As selflearner of a third language this methodology save me a lot of time.!

    Another great video! Every time you pronounce the name of our hero 李想, you make a hand gesture. Why is that? Must be an aspect of the Chinese culture I am not familiar with, but it really interests me:)

    • @MandarinClick
      @MandarinClick  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh, that's just a gesture our presenter made in the first videos to make it easier to identify when a character name was used (like sometimes an underline is used in written texts), but we soon realized it was a bit redundant and annoying, so we decided it was not really necessary. It's not anything cultural, but just something we came up with, so it cannot extrapolate to other situations.

    • @WM-eg4gh
      @WM-eg4gh 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MandarinClick
      I also recommend to consider not using such hand gestures as it can be interpreted as a negative connotation, especially in other countries about intepretation of "dream" with the culture of such "dream" in China. Considering his name, his age and his dream can be also rebutted by people with their views and the obvious labels given.
      Realistically the scenario used in this example could be interpreted derogatory to this character name called Li Xiang who apparently is a low paid English Teacher with no car, no financial stability and wanting a house in Shanghai out of all the cities/provinces in China.
      As you know, language and community/society expectations goes goes hand in hand. Whether you consider it as culture or not, people will say otherwise.

    Great video! I do have a small suggestion(personal opinion more than anything). I think it would be better if pinyin would be optional (same as eng/esp subs) and only Chinese characters available by default. I'm trying to avoid reading pinyin and just follow characters but I can't stop my eyes from taking a sneak peak all the time.

    • @noirnight2608
      @noirnight2608 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brave I'm.lesrning on Duolingo plus and I prefer Pinyin to traditional I don't think I will ever learn by reading traditional but if it works for you great, how are you learning if you don't mind me asking

    • @CrazyFruit93
      @CrazyFruit93 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@noirnight2608 I have set a daily minimum for myself - 5 new words + 60min revision of previously learnt words. Afterwards, if I feel like it, I do some reading/writing/listening practice.
      I've already learnt all of the hsk dictionary up to level 4 + random words I picked up along away. However, I can't recall them quickly enough to be useful for listening/speaking yet.
      I think characters only by default is how it's commonly done on Chinese TV. The sooner I remove pinyin crutch for myself, the better xD
      Best of luck in your Chinese studies!

    I have a question, how do you know when reading Chinese characters that they represent a person's name, such as 李想? In English we capitalize the first letters of names, but that can't be done with Chinese characters, can it?

    • @Gib0777
      @Gib0777 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I've seen in some cases, in text books, where there will be parentheses around the name. But it is not common to see it.

    那对我来说,从来似乎有一样的问题,尤其是给做很重要的,大一些选择.... 可能这是因为我长大了有一点自卑!这个事情有一些比较明显的原因的, ,要找到在家庭界中了.
    可我认为最反常的是:
    我现在是年纪比较大的,以前做一些很大的错误后,就终于明明知道我想什么!但是看来给我已经没办法选择!有的说《不行!》,《你不可以!》....
    难道谁有权利这样说,及其也
    以黄话卑你吗?
    无论是这样的,我比如在做事汉语和几门不同外语从早到晚吧!《如果幸运的话》,我还可以有一个机会给新的生活开始啦!
