Oh my gosh! I love these vowel videos so much. I've been having a hard time improving my voice and I realized it had to do pronunciation. I searched and found out it's called enunciation in singing. I'm glad I found your videos. You're awesome!
Yeah vowels. So enlightening and helpful. Not just the knowledge, the quality of your presentation and video really show you care. (The numbers changing color during the exercise). Those arms are looking beefy too.
So this explains some of the problems I have with “I Have Nothing”, I always feel a bit muddy with the first line of the chorus: “DOn’t make me clOse one mOre dOOr”. I had no idea I retracted my tongue if I didn’t use my mouth to make the O. Now I can apply this in my next practice!
Thanks! So glad it was helpful. Hope you have subscribed because more are coming out next month. Justin gave me a sneak peak and it will be amazing, as always. -NYVC
Thank you! People have told me that the Oh and Ah vowels are the easiest to do and those are literally the two I struggle with the most. This was very insightful!
Wow that song you sang really impressed me!!! You should not only stick with doing great tutorials but you should also do covers of songs such as the one you did in this video!!!! I bet you will definitely get a large amount of views which will in turn help you with your vocal instructing in terms of the amount of traffic you will get!!!!
I feel EXACTLY the same way. Have you heard Justin's range and how different he can make his voice sound. You got see this. Amazing: th-cam.com/video/tnSSp3R9Wd8v/w-d-xo.htmle
Oh yes i know, but at the beinging like the "let it go, let it go" he is full on mix, i know way up there on "I dont care" is were the chest is almost gone
Hi Justin, I love your videos first and foremost and am learning so much. Feel free to delete this comment after you read it. I think you got to do something about your microphone. when you sing. It always cracks up my speakers and definitely undersells your voice. Again, no disrespect, learning a ton and love your videos. Thank you so much for all you do. Just thought I'd point it out cause I think that'll improve the overall quality.
Dear Justin, I would like to learn how to get more freedom in the mix voice. The notes of my passagio and just before it I can get a great mix tone, but any notes higher than that I still find myself straining. Thanks for your great videos
Hey Justin, I have been singing Heavy Metal and Rock for a very long time. One of my favourite Heavy Metal singers is Ronnie James Dio. I love covering his songs which are so fucking difficult to sing. There are two of his songs where I struggle with the "Oh" vowel; "Holy Diver" and "Heaven and Hell". Both of the songs have the "Oh" vowel in the begining where in "Holy Diver" he says "Holy Diver..." and in "Heaven and Hell" he says "Sing me a song...". When I sing these songs, the vowel parts sound AWFUL. Please help me singing them.
Dear Justin can you do somthing about Baritone voice ? i mean wich better exercise vocal or how to get high notes or falsetto or head voice for baritone? thank you in advance
My throat got easily tired most of the time everytime I speak. Moreover, my vocal voice sounds like I am speaking thru my throat and its not sounds good really.
Dear Justin, I'm wondering how The Rev from Avenged Sevenfold achieved his voice. What is the technique behind his singing? I know that I can sound like him ismply because I'm not him, I'm just curious how to do this passage from the song "Little Piece Of Heaven" where he really sounds like gritting his teeth while singing. Even if you are not able to respond, I want to thank you for your videos which really encouraged my singing. I really say this from my heart, thank you :) Regensburg, Germany, Maximilian
This one can get a little loud with his awesome projecting so you other viewers might want to turn it down a little during the singing parts as it was too loud for me lol.
@@NewYorkVocalCoaching I wasn't telling you to turn it down - sorry! I was advising other watchers that they may want to lol.😂 It's not a reflection on you at all but I personally had to turn it down so thought others may want to be aware. You do a great job!
This is a question for Justin or anyone of the public who has already figured this out. In this exercise specifically, I found myself having to flip into falsetto for the very highest set of "5's" in order to prevent myself from "belting" or pushing the note out and not up. However, just a couple of days ago I had just discovered about a proper mix here at NY Vocal Coaching and it has helped tremendously. I'm already accessing a significant mix for the small amount of time I've spent practicing. That said, the question is: which exercise should I focus on performing to further enhance my mix and the higher notes? Up until very recently I was almost exclusively practicing chest voice and breathing / stylistic effects so any guidance on the best way to update my head voice and mix would be very, very much appreciated!
Gerald Wiseman The key too a good strog mix, (that works for me specifically) are a combination of these these three things. 1. Exellent breath soppourt 2.Vocalfry/Compresion 3. Strong Nasal resonance. To get your upperchest voice nice and active you will need to compress your chords by using vocal fry instead of using your throat. This is often very difficult for a lot of people as we get the tendency to force our upper chest voice. The only pushing should be done from your stomach and you should learn how to make it slow and soft, your throat should be relaxed it should't push your vocla chords. You should work on your nasal resonance from your upper chest range to your lower mix. If you are using this technique for the first time you will likely flip into falsetto a lot, this isn't a bad thing you have to allow your chords to get used to this coordination. and after somtime you will notice that there will be not much difference in sound between your upper chest voice and you lower mix, you might still feel a change in your chords but the sound would have evened out. I hope this helps :)
***** Do each exercise, take a ten minute break and do each exercise again. The second time even with less pressure. Take another 20 mins get something to eat. Then try softly singing in around the parts where you voice normally cracks. You will find without, much effort your voice is cracking less. How often you repeat this, and how intensely, depends on how tired your chords feel. Ps as your chords get tired you'll get a tendency to push from you're throat, make sure you keep that solid breath support, because your diaphragm will start to get tired too.

You are the second guy ive heard hit those notes without the use of head voice or falsetto! Amazing and thanks for the video its really helpful
He is using head voice.
Oh.. I thought it was mix.. Okay then
Well, if you want to use these terms, mix is a mix of chest and head and at these heights there isn't much chest left.
Oh yes i know, but at the beinging like the "let it go, let it go" he is full on mix, i know way up there on "I dont care" is were the chest is almost gone
You got a like 30 seconds into the video purely due to the enthusiasm. The rest of the content was great too.

*can't sound like him
You won't be able to sound like him because nobody has a voice nearly close to what he had
The band sounds like Ron Anderson taught them
Nice...it is also a same key of the original song
