    Bonjour Thomas,
    Thanks for sharing your experience oh the Enjomor.
    Mine was not running for 3 (!) reasons hopefuly found by a friend specialist in little engines!
    Bad timing, leaking valves and internaly broken plug (:
    I don't think it is normal and will write to Stirlingkit to ask them if they have any quality control.
    OK, this engine is not too expensive, but shouldn't test them before the packaging ?
    Never mind, we have to go on finding fun, your Harley engine is just great, I can't wait to see it repaired.

      Bonjour Raphael! Loved your vids particularly the very cute cyclecar! You had bad luck with the enjomor...even though they have all the bearings tight (unlike the original silver hit and miss from China) the valves etc do seem to be sub-par. And I had a broken plug - on the Cisin V2. On the one hand, it is disappointing; one the other hand, I can afford these engines and I enjoy improving them. I think they re tested - for under a minute, probably. Seems like hit and miss engines "miss" is not tested. eg the M19 mini Sam engine I got...so I have mixed feelings. I think of them as a nearly finished kit.

      @@ThomasPCGuruENGINES Bonjour Thomas,
      I hope you noticed it, I like sharing all my experience, good or bad. As I pay my products, I feel free to share the bests and the concerns.
      Three major concerns on an engine are not normal and I will say it and send my video to Stirlingkit, even if I fear it won't change anything.
      If someone looks for "Enjomor MK3" on TH-cam, he will see our videos and will be informed.
      Besides this, I have four other Microcosm engines without any issue else than great difficulties to adjust the needle valves.
      Let's go on having fun with these little mechanics

    Thanks for all of your videos, I have this motor coming and plan on doing your mods. I have a question on fuel to use. The Mfg recommends 25:1 premix but others have run 40:1. What do you recommend ? Thanks

      Hi! Thanks for asking. I found I needed a higher oil content with this engine - seriously - but it may be because I had issues with the rubber piston ring (my engine would seize up). Higher oil content helped. I'd start high anyway, if you want to try lower you can later. th-cam.com/video/sl3U_g-CveY/w-d-xo.html But yeah so I'm really interested to hear that I didn't recall about the manufacturer's spec. Please keep in touch even if I take a few days to reply :).

    Recently, my ET1 engine failed to run. I first noticed the failure when I slowly rotated the crankshaft (with the power switch on) up to the compression stroke; it fired! I first thought that the magnet for the Hall sensor had become loose on the crankshaft and got out of proper timing. As I move this about, it would continue firing BTD center. I removed the sparkplug and then discovered, that whenever the power switch was turned on, the sparkplug would fire continuously without the crankshaft even being rotated and in any position! The electronic module/hall effect had failed. I was able to get an entire new electronic system from Banggood and that solved the problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem? But these little engines and all of their troubles are fun anyhow!

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Karl! The electronics for these engines have a bad reputation. I've had ET1, Enjomor, EM2, R28 and tractor with no issues. H73 and Cison V2 I had awful problems. Some were because I didn't know the Hall sensors faces the magnet "backwards" but it seemed to me that although testing implied the hall sensor was at fault, it was actually (or also) the ignition. Anyway I replaced both ign and hall at once on both models to finally get them going. On the Et1 and any hit and miss a switch on the valve rod to limit firing to the hit stroke is a really good idea to minimise heating of the ignition module due to long runs and save batteries too.

    Another thing to give a try is some really good graphite powder, I have seen some graphite "powder" before that seems more like shavings, that's not what you want. It should be super fine, like confectioner's sugar. That's at least what works for me and I suggest it.

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wait...what? Where in the engine do you recommend graphite - in the main cylinder / piston??

    Beautiful Engine. Why do hit and miss engines do that? Fire here and there. Would it get too hot firing like a normal engine? Do they not get enough fuel each stroke?

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man, early engines (like 100 years ago) tended to look like steam engines - open crank, lying on side etc. I guess they were in the minds of the designers. So, the governor works by limiting the speed so it doesn't "run away" - like stationary steam engines and their steam cut-off governors. At this time carburetor technology was in its infancy. It seemed more economical for the engine to not draw in fuel, and detonate it unless it was working. From the modern point of view, we like to watch the moving parts and listen to the sound, a bonus is that the model engine barely gets warm; we don't have to worry about cooling or "wear" very much, so the engine can be simpler and cheaper.

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I should mention that a hit and miss engine running as designed, back in the day would probably be firing reasonably regularly with little of the "miss" cycle (running pumps or sheep shearing machines) . Modern enthusiasts tune the governor to maximise the "miss" cycle so the engine can gently can tick over, running on display all day if preferred.

    Hi Thomas, I watched the continuing struggle with your Enjomor. This is just my opinion but check your cam to crank timing. I think your exhaust valve is opening too late in the stroke. Maybe start by adjusting the valve lash to tighten up the rocker clearance. These use an atmospheric inlet valve with a soft spring that can tend to blow back through the carb if the exhaust cant get out or gets opened too late. Great video and good luck

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most appreciated. There is blow back when starting which the valve grinding didn't entireley fix. I had a look at this timing the other day bt will have another look...I'll let you know!

      @@ThomasPCGuruENGINES I have had no issues with mine after correcting the small problems in the second video. I've ran nearly a quart of fuel through it and everything is seating in well. I may drill and tap the oil pan for a drain plug when changing oil. I am thinking about making another video of it now that is it broken in, and belt it to the generator, load it with more draw to put the H75 to work

      I will eagerly await that. And I'll try to get some purchases past the Financial Controller. Talking of spending money, several tanks of petrol - or a nice new laptop - will not last years like these models should. Even in 50-60 years these models will still look lovely and probably run (perhaps ignition circuit replaced). model engines are an investment! But it's not you I have to convince. My family say: But how many engines fo you need? :)

    Since it's overheating, you should try putting water in the water cooler tank above the piston if you haven't already.

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dale! Thanks for your comment! I finally got this engine running properly th-cam.com/video/sl3U_g-CveY/w-d-xo.html at that speed overheating not an issue. When I did try water in there I noticed rust immediately which is why I use oil in there. Also those water seals are often not, from the factory; you get water in the engine. Properly slow hit and miss models can run just slightly warm - there's a lot of "breathing" in the "miss" that keeps them cool.

    • @ThomasPCGuruENGINES
      @ThomasPCGuruENGINES  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm youtubers seem to have great success with Premix 25:1 high octane fuel for small engines; from a hardware store, lawnmower or chainsaw shop...or you can put 40ml two stroke oil in a 1litre bottle and fill with 95 octane car petrol. Keep checking your batteries all good, spark plug clen and firing (open exhaust valve and rotate to hear the click of the spark). Notice the trouble I had when the spark happened too early (before top dead centre) whereas later I put it back to at or just after top dead centre, fine for a really slow revving engine like this. And get youself some mini screwdriver set including hex and torx...
