Still an excellent movie, even after all these years. Tight, well acted and a good story well filmed and directed. One of those nuggets of gold made just before television took over our lives.
Suddenly is one of my favorite movies and definitely one of my favorite Sinatra movies. This is the first time I ever saw Sterling Hayden and I fell in fan-love then and there.
When I was 4 years old in Benton Illinois I locked myself in a phone booth. I started screaming and crying having horrible but panic. A nice policeman came along and saved me. I was so shook up he took me and bought me a ice cream cheese cone. I'll never forget that. Sterling Hayden in this film made me remember that.
That's Suddenly alright! Frank Sinatra, brilliant singer, surprisingly great actor. It's really funny how as you watch the film you forget he's Frank Sinatra, he's that good!
Anyone else notice that she lives Pidge at the supermarket? Yep, I watch this movie too much. One of my favorite old movies. Sinatra does a great job, but Sterling Hayden, war hero, a man's man. Also, James Gleason (grandpa) is such a great actor. He delivers the best line in the movie; no, he makes an ordinary line extraordinary, "Well, you got me there, boy!" Also, David Raksin's incomparable score. Classic movie from a different era.
Sinatra carried this film. Superb score by David Raksin. And Sterling Haydn was such a fine actor that his performance seems ever so natural and unforced.
+Joseph Carl Breil Why do you think he had top billing? And his character had more lines than any one else. He probably had a piece of the action too (other than salary). Still he did a very decent acting job.
this is a real tangent, but I think if Jim Morrison hadn't drank himself to death he might've become an actor himself - he had the looks and the charisma. (Who knows, he went to UCLA film school, might've become a director too!)
Frank Sinatra was a great actor----many young people dont know that. He is great in this; like so many of his films ! Sterling Hayden was underrated too. Great actor.

The Godfather was a game changer in film look & real grittiness. Glossy was out & Wayne Stewart Widmark Newman were out bar a good last gasp with True Grit etc but the writing was on the wall. Ironically it was mumbling Marlon Brando being replaced with mumbling Al Pacino in acting terms. I never understood over half their dialogue in films. De Niro wasn't much better!
Comedian Tom Dreesen (Mr. Sinatra's opening act for fourteen years at the latter end of his career), tells a story about eating dinner with "Mr. S.", at this Palm Springs home, along with Barbara Sinatra, Gregory Peck, Robert Wagner, Jill St. John, and others from Hollywood. Some of the table talk among the actors turned to where each had studied acting in their early days. Dreesen asked Mr. Sinatra, "Where did you study acting Frank?" Gregory Peck intervened with Dreesen, saying "He's (referring to Mr. S.) a natural-born, diamond in the rough, actor. Acting school would have ruined him."

Love American cars. Like taking your living room with you & 3 piece suite! Lush suspension as you wallowed over pot holes. As long as roads were straight, as they were, you had a good ride.
Blimey. A variation of Manchurian Candidate. Or an inversion, with Sinatra as the assassin instead of Laurence Harvey Sterling Hayden is too rarely seen. He suffered from typecasting. They made him a parody in Dr. Strangelove. 1018p resolution. Complete uninterrupted movie. No weirdness with the picture or the sound. A gem of an upload.

What a fantastic film love these oldies
Old but good.
"I won a silver star, a medal"
"Aw, you stole it"
😄
Yeah, you're just like lying Trump!
Classic movie. One of only 2 great ones with Sinatra. Manchurian candidate and this one.... in my humble opinion.
From here to eternity ; Pal Joey ; The man with the golden arm ; Some came running ; The joker is wild ; Von Ryan's Express . Have you seen all these? If not, seek them out, you may be pleasantly surprised just how great an actor he was. I'm a massive Sinatra fan, so forgive me. 😁
@@MOGGS1942 You're probably right, he did do more than 2 great ones, just I only like the two, ( and von Ryans express)
Frank Sinatra was a really good actor.
Good Movie ! Filmed in Newhall, Ca.
“ expert ... first he wrecks the set then he tells the kid how to fix it “
lol
Great characterisations.
Love American cars. Like taking your living room with you & 3 piece suite! Lush suspension as you wallowed over pot holes. As long as roads were straight, as they were, you had a good ride.
Frank is so intense
He did it his way
Claremont?
Splendid ,, i like it so much,,
Blimey. A variation of Manchurian Candidate. Or an inversion, with Sinatra as the assassin instead of Laurence Harvey
Sterling Hayden is too rarely seen. He suffered from typecasting. They made him a parody in Dr. Strangelove.
1018p resolution. Complete uninterrupted movie. No weirdness with the picture or the sound. A gem of an upload.
That convertible at 1:15:50 is a new 1954 Buick Roadmaster.Worth big💰💰💰today.
Sweet ride, my buddy's father had one and it would fly (but not when his dad was driving).

Man with the golden arm is his best film
