When I first got mine I have both I was messing around and it slammed closed on my pointer finger and good God that woke me up .... all my fault for not understanding the system before poking around..... I love the way the shoot
Great video to clearly explain the truth about the AG42b. I was using the AG42b in a ranging shot version for the Pvpj 1110 (anti tank recoil less 90mm gun) in the Swedish army back in the 1980's, doing my conscript duty as a group sergeant. We very seldom had any issues with it. This version also had a gas regulation function and 7.62 nato caliber. The reason for the gas regulation was due to the lower velocity of the cartridge to match the 90mm anti tank ammunition.
It is nice to see a knowledgeable person explain the workings of a firearm. Would love to see you do a follow-up shoot-and-skoot. Maybe a shootout with the likes of the M1 Garand and FN49. Other info to include - best stripper clips to use. Original Gas Tool and its use.
The only legitimate complaint I ever had about my Hakim was the unpleasantness of the direct-impingement gas system. I got my gun when there was a large batch of them imported in the 1980s along with tons of surplus Egyptian ammo. When you're shooting, once the bolt carrier begins to move back the gas port is exposed to your face and eyes. When you shoot clean commercial or high-quality military ammo it's unpleasant but not too bad, but when shooting that Egyptian ammo you literally had to wear goggles due to the particles and gas blown into your face and the smell was awful (think burning urine). Other than that it was a fun gun, especially shooting a converted MG13 magazine. I never had a Swedish AG but I'm sure it's much better simply due to most all the 6.5 ammo available being very high-quality.
How different weapons function is what makes them interesting, to me at least. If you own one, you should damn well understand it. If you lay a finger alongside a revolver's cylinder gap, you'll pay it. The injury isn't due to a design fault, it's operator error.
Ive had both the AG42 and the 8mm Hakim for many years.and the Rashid as well 7.bb62x39.. The used to sell for $350 And $250. And easy to find at pawn shops and gun shows. But not any more ,I think the last Hakim I seen was $1000 bucks and the AG42,s were selling for $1500 and up. Now I wished I would have bought several more I don't shoot the Hakim very much. But I absolutely love shooting that mild 6.5 x 55 Swede. It is my favorite cartridge. I have thousand of rnds and also reload many of them.. I have several 94,s and 96,s that I love to shoot. The target rifle that I built is a custom 98 action chambered in the 6.5 swede..with a Burris Eleminater scope. Very nice with the data already in it to shoot out to 1000 yards. Up to 700 yards is spot on but my hits at 1000 are not constant. I'm thinking that's the point my 149grain projectiles are destabilizing. I will eventually work up a hotter load with a heavier projectile to see if it will do better at 1000. But I really only have one area that I can target shoot in , that is that long and it's several miles from my home.. I just love shooting that rnd.
Sold a SLEW of the HAKIM throughout the late 1980's-early 1990's, among all those other milsurp rifles & pistols. Several RASHID's as well but they were not in the best of condition comparatively. Only ever recall 3 of the Swedish AG42 6.5mm thru the shop. Kinda wish Ide kept one or two but can't keep many guns when your in the gun selling business. We got you now so it's all good 👍
I enjoy my Hakim and Rasheed rifle and carbine. I owned them for 10 years before I heard about the Hakim thumb. I never smashed my fingers in them or had any problems
Imo the hakim ( I can't speak on the ag42 cause I've never fired it, but I imagine it's just as if not better than a hakim) is one of the most underrated semi auto rifles out there. I love taking my hakim to the range, the muzzle break does wonders unless you're next to it.
I want a both of those but leaning on the Ljungman first. There is a local store that has had the Hakeem on their site for a few years now and decided to stop. They couldn’t give me a price saying it depends. I asked about a m48 Mauser and they said $1000. Apparently a unissued condition version had sold for 900 on GB and their non matching is the same. Great video
When the price "depends" that means they judge you based on how you're dressed and what there first impression of your knowledge is and then try to over charge you any way possible. That's a no go chief.
Hey man good video, was very happy with it because I’m actually looking for a Ljungman. I have a question though I was wondering if you could answer for me. I’ve seen 2 ljungmans so far at gunshows and both of their bolts were stencil etched the serial number, I don’t know if those are done at the factory commonly or if someone else did it to match the numbers. Thanks!
Your videos a always very good and have a lot of good information. I appreciate the things I learn from you. The Ljungman is a dream rifle. The only problem is the mustache. It brings attention to your lazy eye.
You mentioned trained soldiers... the Hakim was mostly used by those who had very little formal training as they were aid to Yemen and Somalia (the Egyptians mostly used Soviet and Czech rifles themselves prior to Maadi making their own AK). You should go full Fudd with the stache.
I just released a video on a Hakim... i'll therefore try to claim Milsurp world copied me! Ahhhh imitation is the best form of flattery lol! --> Also fun fact, in my video we managed to get a stovepipe malfunction and we were able to clear it easily by just pushing the dust cover forward.
THERE WE GO FOLKS! RECONGITION! Im famous!!! Awesome videos by the way - your content helped to inspire me to make my own purchases *clears throat* my own channel! sorry, Freudian slip
Is there a special way to clear a stuck case? I recall once seeing a video where a guy flippedthe rifle 180° because it may have helped. I could be wrong. Also my Hakim has no lock screws and I think blue loctite won’t last. It doesn’t last long on the long bolt/screw of my fn49. Do you have any alternatives for keeping the screws in place or sources to buy the lock screws? I tried making some with paper clips but failed. Thanks for the great video. I enjoyed your explanation of the safety and the spring that grabs the bolt.
Hello Mr. I would need your help. Pls. I am trying to port and design AG m 42 for video game mod. Game takes place in outdoor wilderness localities shotouts are of relatively long distance type sometimes. Is there any justifieble way how to put some (ideally historical) scope on Ag m 42 ? I was thinking zf41 but boys from server said no scope for Ag m 42 in any circumstances... is there really no possible way ?
Finaly somebody who understand how the Ljumgman works.
If you don't understand the manual of arms for a particular firearm, you have no where to stand with your criticisms. Great video!
You know the Swedes had that one guy....... KAAAAARRRRRLL!
It’s the return of the king… absolutely gorgeous AG-42.

Any tool can be unsafe if you don't know how to use it. First rule of safety everywhere and always is: think about what you are doing.
I have owned my hakim over 30 years. It’s a gem in my collection. Never fails to get folks attention at the range or start a conversation.
Most unergonomic rifles I’ve ever handled. Owned a Hakim decades ago and couldn’t stand it.
I think these kinds of videos are cool. When these myths get accepted, people just repeat them. Keep up the great work.
No bloody stumps for fingers??? MIRACLE!!! LOL Thank you for destroying myths!!

I purchased my Hakim a few weeks back and this video helped a lot. Good information as always.

Love the ljungman! I think you are the defacto ljungman/Hakim expert on the tube now
Great technical video..Thanks
I enjoy my Hakim and Rasheed rifle and carbine. I owned them for 10 years before I heard about the Hakim thumb. I never smashed my fingers in them or had any problems

11:10 or sweep back (or forward) on the cartridge/shell/casing like you mean it.
I made a video about a year ago similar about hakim thumb. To this day people still give me shit and say I'm wrong still.
Well you're not wrong :)
Great video. It's a solid design.

The Hakim so cool and different rifle . I have sellers regret for getting rid of mine few years back .
can we use the kakim with aN AG42 magazine? are they interchangeable?? thanks
Great vid!
Is that 7 Belgium’s behind you?
Doesn’t look like model 8’s or 81’s
How about Widowmaker thumb?
Hey man good video, was very happy with it because I’m actually looking for a Ljungman.

It's common. If you find one for under 1500 buy it.
@@MilsurpWorld Thanks man!

Always wanted a ljungman, love the round. Boy they’re getting pricy

You should go full Fudd with the stache.
The Swedes would have been trained, the conscripts I mentioned would be more for who used the Hakim.
Giggle giggle ☺️

Oh neat, I'll have to check out your video. I like your channel name.
THERE WE GO FOLKS! RECONGITION! Im famous!!! Awesome videos by the way - your content helped to inspire me to make my own purchases *clears throat* my own channel! sorry, Freudian slip
I dont get it why get a Hakim when you can get it in the kings caliber 6.5x55 SE :D

If you really want to scare yourself with a loud noise, try releasing the bolt on my Remington 740.
Awesome video Danny. If you keep growing that mustache out. I want to see you curl it with mustache wax.
Keep it
….. I don’t own either of these rifles……but I’m gonna watch anyways.

Mustaches are in. It takes a couple months to get it good anyways.
What about the Rasheed? I know totally different operating system. Still apart of the family.
Clear as mud?
5:54 because they're concerned it's going to close on their finger while loading.
🤗💯💣💥👍👏👏👏
bigger mustache, tom selleck or don frye style.
Can you sell me a Ljungman?
Shave the stash bro, not workin
with love
When an AR bolt goes forward, it doesn’t take your finger off.
When an AR bolt goes forward the gun has fired. So says the black panther wannabe dude., too funny.
Ljungman! There's no need to feel down...
That bolt carrier design is still baffling to me. Why not just use a normal charging handle?
Not interested in any Swedish firearms. Came because of the thumbnail, keep the mustache, looks great man. Your fellow straight guy.
