How to set up an air pump\Sponge filter or air stone for your aquarium

To those of you who do not know or wondered how to set up an air pump in your tank, I hope this helped! this covers how you can use a sponge filter as well as an air stone to maximize gas exchange in your aquarium.

I have the same pump and check valve and everything I tried to do it except instead I connected one tube to the pump for the filter and the pump has another side as well to connect another tube and that's what I use for the Air zone which I also connected a check valve because I saw you do it.. but my air stone I don't see it working or throwing bubbles but my filter is working fine. Why is my air stone not throwing bubbles?

Hello Serena, sorry I didn't mention it in the video, but the check valves do not come with the pumps. You can buy those separately, and those should only be about a dollar or two to get, and they usually sell them at any pet/fish store, or online. I'll put an amazon link in the description to a set of check valves so you can get one there if you would like :)

Why no check valve on filter?

The check valve wasn’t in frame when I installed the sponge filter, but it was still configured in the way I showed from about 1:05 to 2:11. In other words I did have one with the filter, I just accidentally didn’t show it.

You don’t, you can just have a sponge filter and you’ll have more than enough filtration. You can use any other type of filter pretty much. But they do help a lot with circulation and aeration, so I would recommend one.
