The song, the recording AND the bass playing are all excellent! Would've mixed the bass a bit differently though. All the other instruments sound mid 70s. The bass sounds mid 60s.

In a Interview with John Lennon…
The journalist asked John had he talked to Paul McCartney? John responded that Paul was off writing some Silly Love Songs.
When Paul heard of the response from John, Paul intentionally wrote this song with John’s quote as the song title!
Funny thing is that this song went on and out sold any of John’s songs at that time!!

"Silly Love Songs" was a gigantic hit back when, quickly topping the charts to become the song of 1976. I heard it on the radio so often back then that merely reading the name can start the song playing in my head even now more than 45 years later -- that bass line, the melody, those harmonies, the horn riffs, the disco string arrangements. The first vinyl album I bought when I got a few years older was Wing's Greatest Hits, in part because of this song, as well as the others like "Band on the Run", "Live and Let Die", "Jet", "Junior's Farm" etc. More songs to put a smile on your face!

Good one guys. Sounds of the 70's and Paul's reaction to critics, including John, that all he writes is silly love songs. What a great way to counter. He proves again that he is the king of melody and a master of the bass as a lead instrument. Bittersweet to hear Linda, his wife who passed away in the 90's, sing back up. Band on the Run, So Bad, What the Man Said, are other good examples of Paul's melodic genius.

    You both are so RigHt!!!!
This song can get you in your feels and feeling real good! I work at a Ralph's grocery store in Hollywood. Our store music is a mix of 70's, 80's, 90's, up to present day tunes and I noticed how the songs from the 70's made me feel good, very nostalgic and just made me appreciate 70's music like I never had. I've always been an 80's music baby (graduated high school in 1987).
But the way the world is today and all the negative things and all the negative energy, that 70's music did something to me!
    ✌️❤️🙏

Always liked this from when it came out. I'm 68 now and my main music in 1970s was The Who, Mott the Hoople, Bowie, punk. But this struck me as the most mature music - a realisation by a happily married man with young children that it's goid to be silly and say silly love stuff with your loved ones. His contemporaries and 'edgy' young people who mocked it just hadn't grown up.

I love a love song, but when you're broken hearted, they turn the tears on, and sometimes are too much. I like that Paul McCartney turned a put down to a creative great song, best way to deal with it. 👏❤

This song came out in 76 when I was just 5 yrs old, so I knew who Wings were before who Paul was as an individual or The Beatles as a group. I loved this song, Listen to What the Man Said and Coming Up. Because of MTV playing Coming Up and Ebony & Ivory, I learned who Paul McCartney was was!

This is one of those songs that takes me way back to when I was little kid. It seemed like this was a song that was always on the radio when we were going somewhere in our folks' car. This and the other McCartney song when he says, "Sister Suzie, brother John." I have a sister named Suzie, and we used to look at each other when we heard that as little kids and say, "How does that radio man know about us?" 😅

I've loved this song since I was 8 yrs old in the mid 70's. The message and the music are beautifully executed. Towards the end of The Beatles as a group Paul had written a few love songs and John responded by saying no one wants to hear silly love songs anymore. He and Paul had an argument over that comment. When Paul started the band Wings with his wife Linda Silly Love Songs was one of the 1st songs he wrote and produced. The song ended up doing extremely well on the charts.

The first song I ever remember hearing. I was in diapers and it was my favorite. Dad says I sang it all the time and made him play it nonstop lol. Still one of my faves (as is Paul, in general.) The end is actually a 3 part harmony with Paul, his wife Linda and Denny (Wings.) They even pulled that shit off live in concert. Amazing. I believe this song was in response to Lennon saying Paul wrote too many love songs 😏 There are so many Paul songs to recommend. As you already did “Maybe I’m Amazed,” I’d suggest “My Love” or “With a Little Luck” next. Loved this reaction.
