    You know what I really like about this review? It's watching these wonderful younger adults mature as content creators and critics. I LOVE how Amber is really finding her voice and taste and establishing what she likes, sometimes without Jay necessarily agreeing with her completely. I'm also super impressed with how Jay's taste has also grown and even if a song isn't necessarily in his wheelhouse, he still listens respectfully and appreciates the talent and craft of what goes into it. But most importantly, Jay is respecting his wife's perspective and giving her all the space to express herself supportively, even when at times he's not feeling it the same way. Such wonderful modeling of how to grow, compromise, and find yourself as a young couple.

      I like John but that statement has always been a simplistic generalization. Sure it applies to some, but it doesn't apply to Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and Let Die, Band on the Run, etc. I think those comments were fueled by their relationship at the time. But they definitely did patch things up before John died.

    The female singer in this song was Paul's late wife Linda McCartney he created wings with her, so they could always be together on the road. This song perfectly encapsulates their romance they had and the video shows their children as well. Paul actually came up with the name for wings when Linda had a near death experience giving birth to one of their children. He said he had his hands together with his head in them praying, slowly pulled them away from his face, and he saw wings.

I ended up being in the hospital with a very severe pneumonia and I remember being over emotional because I was so sick and I cried like a baby, which I don't think would have happened had I not been so ill.. lucky for me, nine days later I was able to go home but it was a super close call for me as well and I will never forget how sick I was. Paul is such a melodic genius. His gift for catchy melody’s is second to none. John sometimes criticized Paul’s post Beatles work as “silly love songs” and so did some music critics - this song was Paul’s answer to all of them.

      I'm with Lennon. At the time, I was actually offended at how frothy this song -- and most of the album -- were. Didn't buy another McCartney album for many years. I now can appreciate the instrumentation, especially Paul's fantastic bass playing.

    • @deltabravo287
      @deltabravo287 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@tombeyerlein3813 McCartney was right. Lennon’s criticism’s seem to be born of insecurity. He fancied himself a rocker yet so many of the great early Beatles songs about love were written by Lennon and were hardly want one would call “rockers” - all a bit hypocritical for me. Many of Lennon’s post Beatles criticisms- even if his own Beatles work pissed me right the fuck off. They were either jealous ravings or drug addled nonsense. I still cried my eyes out when he was killed. Loved his Beatles music and him- flaws and all.

    • @Jessica_Roth
      @Jessica_Roth ปีที่แล้ว +1

      John even wrote a song ("How Do You Sleep?" on the Imagine album) that basically asked Paul "what is this trash?" I mean, songs such as "Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey" are wonderful pop confections…but some of the audience (and a number of critics) were wondering if that was all Paul had to offer, when George was doing concerts for Bangladesh and John was writing "Imagine" and all the political songs on the "Some Time in New York City" album.
      (Although the best song on that album will probably never be on this channel, because of the controversial title.)
      Paul's right and he's wrong; there's nothing wrong with love songs per se. But any one note gets tiring if it's done forever.
      The backing vocals (and the tambourine) were by Linda McCartney, who co-wrote the song. So after all the talk about Yoko "breaking up the Beatles", it was actually PAUL who incorporated his wife into his band.

      Heater Skelter was recorded to show that the band could be edgy.
      The following is from Chat GPT
      The Beatles recorded "Helter Skelter" for their self-titled 1968 album, also known as "The White Album". The song was written by Paul McCartney and was influenced by the heavy, loud rock music that was popular at the time.
      McCartney has said that he wanted to create a song that was even louder and more raucous than any other rock song at the time, and "Helter Skelter" was his attempt to do just that. The song features aggressive vocals, distorted guitars, and pounding drums, and it was meant to be a showcase for the band's raw energy and musicianship

    This song came out in the summer of 1976. I was in sleep away camp for the first time in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. I was eight years old and I remember my bunk mate Lance Moore calling out to me every time band on the run or silly love songs played on one of our counselor’s transistor radios. It was my first foray into Paul McCartney and later the Beatles. Summer of ‘76. Sweet memories. Such an innocent time!

      @@Dr.Dave.W So cool David. I remember Logan’s Run. I didn’t see the movie but watched the short lived TV series. It’s still one of the wildest concepts for a story in that once you reach a certain age (I think it was 30) you go into a Death Star chamber and face certain death and of course Logan our protagonist goes on the run to avoid execution. Maine like the Poconos is still one of the best places for sleep away camp. In fact my two daughters both went to Camp Tapawingo (Camp “Tap” in Harrison, Maine. They went for 10 years from the youngest bunk to being the seniors and never missed a summer. from 2009 to 2019. True story, my oldest daughter became good friends at camp with Sasha Seinfeld (Jerry’s daughter) and Lola Consuelo (Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelo’s daughter) both camp mates. And I met them on parent’s visiting day and shared some good laughs. I wish every kid in the world had the means and opportunity to experience sleep away camp.
