Also, try on the turn around, using B Harmonic Minor. If you're feeling more major, you can play some Ab Major licks over it (relative key), don't overcook it but it does work to dip in and out of. Use the Ab Minor Pentatonic shape to get that sound, but your root note will obviously be a B not an Ab. At the end of the day, listen to someone like Scott Henderson, 99% of his tracks change key a couple of times in a progression! Thats when the real arguments start about what to play! The song description of this backing track says it's in the key of B minor. B minor is the relative minor of D major. Dorian is the minor second of the D major key....so in this case it would E Dorian...as E is the minor second of the D major key.
Try using B minor pentatonic, then adding the two Dorian notes (2nd and 6h, C# and G#) sparsely, like a seasoning to spice up your pentatonic jamming. It's a nice variation to do now and then, since the straight pentatonic scale starts to get boring after a while.

This is timeless, it could be the 70's 80's or now with some scratching and a LOT of autotune. I think people are autotuning their instruments they suck so bad. This is good and a great idea for a video channel. Dance People!!
