Had a realization just a few minutes ago, thought there would be some dope blues backing tracks on youtube to try out some stuff and practice my basic guitar chops on. Found this, spent almost 9 minutes jamming out with my eyes closed. Thank you for this my man! Much love!
Absolutely terrific track Benjamin. With no gigs during the lockdown I let my playing slip. However I used this track to jam along to and it helped rejuvenate my playing. Thanks so much for uploading. Happy to buy you a coffee.
Thanks so much for this! I'm still a newbie with woodwind instruments - I picked up a Yamaha WX5 and VL70-m a few months back and have been trying to find stuff to improv over and this worked perfect, somehow managed to jam the whole 8:33 without ever losing that feel of rhythm and melody :3
These are good, solid backing tracks for guitar practice. I am baffled by those Brand X tracks where they think you want to listen to some other dude practice for 2 minutes before you start your own practice regimen. These tracks rock.
Suck my Troy the C minor blues scale should sound fine over this! learn that as it's very useful. it's basically a pentatonic C minor with F#. it's a very common scale in jazz, funk, soul... definitely learn that.
Finally!! This was so much fun to play to!!! Not only is this such a good arrangement but this guy is a hell of an engineer! You can tell he's been at this for at least 80 years lol!!
this track is super easy to make bebop passing tones sound nice. i've been trying to include more chromaticisms and passing tones on my jazz playing but i just couldn't, this is good to practice my right hand, the descending chords allow for the 'wrong' and 'out' notes to fit in in some way. i might have analysed this all wrong but it just sounds good man.
Ben, can you make a funk backing track in just c-minor. No other chords... No 2-5-1 just C-minor. This would be good for practicing outside playing. Thanks.
I'm curious Ben, how do you assemble your tracks? I make a lot of my tracks(especially practice ones) in Band in a Box, but none of the styles, have drums that good. Do you do everything "from scratch" or do you have something to assist?
Hi Ben, absolutely love this track. I just sort of started getting serious with guitar this year. I've done a recording to your backing track with full credit to you of course. I'll link to it here if you'd like to have a listen. Lots of mistakes in it lol but I'm going to leave it as it is. Cheers, James
The second chord of b flat 11 listed in the chord chart above is probably incorrect. Try a F minor ninth and see if that works better. The other chord to watch is C7 in the second part as it sounds cool but is a little outside the F Minor tonality. You can pretty play in C minor all the way through if phrased correctly.
insanely good track
Thanks Rudy! :)
didn't expect you here o_o
Hi rudy love u man
Dang rudy's here
Along with this one, I saw ur comment on chic Corea and the electric band playing time track live. You have great taste in music
I play extemporaneous flute to your tracks, and it is impressive how much your music helps me learn to play. Thank you so much for all you do!
This track opened a new paradigm in my playing.
I’ve genuinely improved as a player using this track for the past year.

I agree with Rudy. Fookin great track

Like the chord progression on this one! Nice...
Now that's what I call music.
That 6 second intro should be a jam track!!
Maybe one day I'll extend it ;)
what a super high-quality backing track
Thank you for this great track. I just jammed... sounds great backing my alto sax. =) Great groove.
I am struggling on how to analize this progression. Can someone help me?
C minor, D diminished, E♭ major, F minor, G minor, A♭ major, and B♭ major.
But just take the root notes...and play from them when soloing.
Play in the C minor scale on your instrument and let your ear be your guide.
Just play C D G skip the minor. Pentatonic. Sounds great.
this has gotta be the hardest scale to figure out..unfortunately i have a terrible time learning guitar on any note, but this one takes the cake.
Suck my Troy the C minor blues scale should sound fine over this! learn that as it's very useful. it's basically a pentatonic C minor with F#. it's a very common scale in jazz, funk, soul... definitely learn that.
esta buenisimo para usarlo como base de rap hermano una locura

Finally a Jamtrack with a dramatic structure! Great stuff, thank you!
It's funny how backing tracks are just as good to listen to as the entire song.
Just jammed to this track with my new (old) Rhodes Mark I. Made me feel like chick corea for moment there. Thank you for making and sharing this. :D
